Thief of Hearts Page 4

by E. D. Parr

Blake closed his eyes. Alex still held his cock. He’d never felt so loved, so good, and so happy. Alex was some kind of dream come true. As Blake drifted in happiness, Alex slid his cock from his ass and pulled Blake to lie on his back. He kissed Blake’s lips.

  “You’re hard again.”

Blake murmured. “I’m okay, though. I feel like lying here with you, just cuddling. The hard on was from your fucking and touching. I don’t think I could come again.”

Alex gathered him into his arms. “Maybe later, babe. Hell, you felt good—so tight. I don’t think I’ve ever had an orgasm like it. I could get used to this, Blake Aster, so look out.”

Blake smiled. He traced a path along his lover’s muscled body with his palm. “I’d like that.”

Alex sighed. “I should deal with this condom.” He rolled away from Blake. He stood and went into the bathroom.

Blake shuffled up the bed. He held out his arms to Alex on his return. “Are you staying the night?”

Alex went into his arms. “If that’s okay.”

  Blake grinned. “It’s great.”

  Alex held him.

  Blake closed his eyes.

They must have slept for a time, because Blake woke with Alex lying beside him. He shifted a little and eased away. He crept from the bed and padded to the living room where his cell phone lay on his briefcase. He’d discarded both onto the small table when he got home. Blake checked the time. Ten PM. He went quietly back into his room and picked up his robe from the hook behind the door. Suitably covered he went to clear away the dinner dishes.

Blake had loaded the dishwasher and put the beer bottles in the recycle bin under his sink when Alex appeared. He’d wrapped a towel from the bathroom around his hips and looked so sexy, Blake’s stomach clenched.

“Hey, I woke up and you were gone. What are you up to?”

Blake shrugged. “We never got the coffee. It’s probably too late for caffeine. Do you want a whisky? I don’t usually sleep until midnight, but you wiped me out.”

A smile spread over his lover’s face. “Yeah … and you wiped me out. Whisky sounds good. Just a taste.”

Blake brought glasses and the bottle of whisky from the cupboard. He poured the pale golden liquid into each glass. “Do you want ice, Alex?”

Alex came to stand behind him. He slipped his arms around Blake’s waist and kissed his neck. “No thanks. Are we taking this to bed?”

Blake put down the bottle and turned in the circle of Alex’s embrace. “Seems a chore to pull on suits again, but I have a spare robe if you’d rather watch a movie or something for a while.”

Alex rubbed his nose against Blake’s then kissed him. “Okay.”

Blake left him bringing the glasses into the living room. He retrieved a toweling robe from his linen closet and brought it to Alex. They flopped onto the couch together.

Blake snatched up the remote and turned on the TV. He found a movie that was just starting.

Alex edged his knee against Blake’s knee.

Blake couldn’t remember when he’d felt so happy.

  Chapter Eight

Alex looked back on the previous night with a sigh. He had no doubt that he already felt more for Blake than he’d ever felt for anyone, and he’d had a few lovers, acting out against his family and healing his heartbreak over the guy he could never have.

They’d watched the movie for a half hour. Blake sucked an orgasm from him that made his legs go weak. He jerked Blake off in the shower, and they crawled into bed. Alex smiled, remembering the desire than burned through him for Blake as soon as they kissed. It was as if he couldn’t keep his hands off Blake’s perfect cock. Sleeping alongside Blake changed something in Alex. A sense of belonging crept over him as he’d drifted to sleep, and he conjured that feeling easily right then, recalling the delicious feel of Blake’s hard body against his.

He’d asked Blake to come to his place that night. It was suddenly important to Alex that Blake didn’t see him as only the guy who cleaned windows. He’d already decided to quit his extra-curricular activities. It wasn’t as if he’d needed money. He’d saved since he was teenager. He could access his trust fund left him by his grandfather anytime he wanted. He hadn’t wanted before. His anger still burned over the way his father treated him when he came out. Sure, it wasn’t just his coming out—it was also about the musical career he’d shunned.

Alex debated leaving a message somewhere about the item in the alley. He couldn’t get it out of his mind that it was his fault the kid Blake was defending got caught with stolen goods. There’d been a time when Alex had dumped something after hearing sirens in the distance and he searched his memory for the name of the alley where he’d dropped it. He sipped his coffee and gazed out of the window at the traffic and people passing on the sidewalk. He waited for a meeting with one of the directors from the concert hall and performing arts center. It was time he picked up where he left off two years ago. I’ll do something about the kid if he’s found guilty. I can’t let him take the wrap. Surely, they can’t jail him. I’ll wait. I’ll fix it if anything bad happens. What a coincidence. I meet a man, fall for him, and he’s a fucking lawyer. He’ll hate me if he finds out what I’ve done. I can’t let it him find out. It’ll break my heart if I lose him.

Alex picked up his smartphone and opened the notepad. He read the lists where he kept a record of what he’d acquired and to which charity he’d given the proceeds. He sighed. I don’t regret it. It was exciting, challenging. I never hurt anyone. The items were insured. Look at my dad’s stuff, insured to the rafters. I should have taken his Brancusi. I could have funded an orphanage for a year. His phone rang.

  “Alexander Ryan.”

Blake grinned at the young man he escorted from the courtroom. He had the case thrown out in less than fifteen minutes. They parted on the courthouse steps.

Blake checked his phone. There was half an hour before he needed to go back to the office. The sun shone. The sky held patches of blue the color of Alex’s eyes. Blake walked off to a coffee shop he knew at the end of the block. As he passed the window, he glanced in. Surprise spiked through him. Alex sat at a table with a man—a man who gazed at Alex with adoring eyes. Blake froze on the sidewalk and people grunted their displeasure as they avoided crashing into him. He stared in at his lover. Alex wore another suit, dark, expensive, and he appeared older, more refined—elegant. A frown creased between Blake’s eyes as pain entered his heart.

He turned away. I’ve only known him a week and yet this hurts so badly. I shouldn’t have let myself hope. I, I’ve fallen in love with him. When did that happen? Blake’s chest hurt. His stomach ached. He stared down at the pavers. He took a step along the street to trudge to his office. Should I go to his place tonight?

A hand grasped his shoulder. A familiar voice murmured in his ear.

“Babe, you’re through with court already. How did it go?”

  Blake spun around.

  Alex smiled at him.

He shook his head, unable to get the idea that Alex had been seeing another man out of his head.

The expression on his loved one’s face went from pleasure to anxiety. “You didn’t get him off?”

“Yes, yes I did. What are you doing here?” Blake heard the suspicion in his own voice and cringed.

Alex gave him a puzzled look. “I met someone for coffee, about work. I’m done with cleaning windows and … and other hazardous pursuits.”

Relief swept over Blake in a huge wave and he sighed loudly. “You’re wearing a suit again. You look great.” He gazed at Alex knowing his eyes broadcast love.

Alex’s eyes reflected his gaze. He edged closer to Blake. “I’m dying to kiss you. Do you have time to get coffee?”

Blake’s brush with heartbreak made him edgy. “I have to get back to the office.”

Alex gave him a tender look. “You’re heading in the wrong direction, babe.”

  A drench of love flipped
Blake’s stomach as he heard the emotion in Alex’s voice. He nodded. “Yeah. I, er, I saw you in the café and…”

Alex raised his eyebrows for a second. “You thought I was with another guy.”

“Well, he looked pretty into you.”

Alex laughed aloud. “I’ll walk to your office with you. You know here in this city gay couples can hold hands and even put their arms around each other.”

A smile hovered on Blake’s lips and he finally let it happen. “I’d like your arm around me.”

Alex obliged. “There are things about me I haven’t told you.” He walked in step with Blake.

“Don’t tell me. Anything you did before we met, anyone you fucked … I don’t want to know.”

Alex hugged him into the side of his muscled chest. “We’re just going from this moment then?”

Blake couldn’t stand hearing about anyone having touched Alex. It was safer not to know anything Alex might have designated “dodgy prior behavior,” so things such as public exposure on a window cleaning scaffold could be thrown onto that pile, too.

They stopped at the crosswalk and Alex slipped his arm from Blake’s waist. He grasped Blake’s hand. “You are coming to my place tonight?”

Blake cast a sideways glance at him, before they set off across the road with the crowd.

  “If that’s still okay.”

Alex let out a sigh that Blake heard above the city noise. “If you don’t come around I’ll drive to your place and hammer on the door.”

  Blake squeezed his hand.

At the entrance to the office block, Alex leaned close. “I’m tempted to kiss you. Hell, I will.” He gave Blake a quick soft kiss.

Joy traveled over Blake. “I’ll see you tonight.”

Alex loosened his designer tie. “You are so hot.” He stepped away and turned to wave. “See you tonight.”

Blake watched his lover walk away for a few moments. He’d put his hand in his pants pockets and his hard ass made a tempting sight. Tenderness grew in Blake’s heart. I might have to tell him how I feel. It would break my heart to lose him, but suppose I fall deeper in love with him and then he dumps me. I’d rather know sooner than later.

Blake couldn’t quite discard the idea his scar made him undesirable.

  Chapter Nine

Kathy looked up from a document she read when Blake entered the office.

He smiled at her. “Got him off—easy as pie. I don’t know why they thought they could get a conviction. There was no evidence he’d been in the venue to steal the painting.”

She returned his smile. “Makes you wonder why a boy would want a painting.”

Blake shook his head as he leaned his briefcase on the front of her desk to talk to her. “He likes drawing and wants to go to art school. Sadly, he’ll never finance that.”

Kathy’s eyes filled with sympathy. “Poor kid. Hey, Blake, I found this.” She put down the legal letter and moved the folder to one side. A glossy magazine appeared. She turned the article vertically so that Blake could see. “This is your gorgeous window cleaner isn’t it?”

Blake’s heart lurched. He picked up the magazine expecting the worst, but it was a photograph of Alex with his father taken a couple of years ago according to the picture’s caption. They stood on stage at the Carnegie Hall having performed a duet piano piece. His father was Alexander Ryan, Senior. Blake’s eyes widened and he gave a low whistle.

“It sure is, Kathy. I thought I recognized his name, but he didn’t add Junior or some numeral to describe a generation … so, you know, I dismissed the connection. Hmm…”

Kathy grinned at him and took the magazine from his hand. “Seems like Alexander junior is possibly joining a resident orchestra and tutoring. I didn’t read the full article yet. It’s not even my journal. I get it for Jenna.”

Blake still reeled from discovering his hot, sexy window cleaner was an accomplished musician, but he asked about Kathy’s daughter. “Jenna still hooked on violin lessons?”

His assistant dropped the magazine into her straw basket that traveled to work with her each day containing all manner of things with a nod. She looked at Blake. “So, I guess we’ll see a new window cleaner rock up next time.”

Blake lifted his briefcase. “I guess so.” He went into his own office. He dropped his briefcase next to his desk and walked to the window. Blake stared out across the city. I wonder why he’s been cleaning windows for a living. Whatever the reason I wouldn’t have met him otherwise…

  ****

Alex stopped at the kiosk on the end of the block. He picked up a few music journals, paid, and tucked them under his arm. He looked along the street. People were alighting from a cab. Alex hailed it. As he sat in the back going home, he flipped through the journals. A frown sprang between his eyes as he saw the article about him. He’d only accepted the job that morning so they’d been premature advertising his possible addition to the place. He could still have gone with the place offered him at his coffee meeting. Then he shrugged. I’d like to see the old man’s face when he reads this… Then Alex put his father out of his mind.

Blake made him feel loved. Blake accepted him when he was a guy cleaning windows in ripped jeans and a faded t-shirt. Blake wanted him. He sighed, thinking about Blake. Hell, he’s great … he loves me. His eyes when he thought I’d been seeing another guy … I’ll fuck that notion right out of him tonight. Love’s weird … you haven’t got it and you ache for it, then wham, it hits you, and you ache worrying about losing it. I’ll tell him how I feel tonight.

Time couldn’t pass fast enough for Alex. He discarded his suit and pulled on jeans and a t-shirt. He checked his fridge contained beer and thought about walking to the corner liquor store for whisky and then decided not to. He rehearsed what he’d say to Blake.

When Blake rang his doorbell, a spike of nervousness went over Alex. He raced to the door, opened it, and grabbed Blake by the shoulders. He kissed Blake.

The passion in Blake’s response made his cock stir. He pressed his body against Blake’s until his cock hardened. He drew away from the kiss. “I’ve wanted to do that all day.”

Blake’s eyes filled with desire as he gazed at Alex. “So the kiss outside my office didn’t count?”

Alex took his hands and pulled him into the apartment. “It was great but not enough. Can I get you a beer or coffee? “

Blake followed him into the kitchen. “A beer’s good, thank you.”

Alex brought two bottles from the fridge and uncapped them. He handed one to Blake. He stood close cradling his beer. “I need to tell you something.”

Blake gave a little nod. “I already know. You’re a musician. My assistant showed me an article about you and you’re the son of a famous concert pianist.”

Butterflies twirled in Alex’s stomach. He couldn’t tell from Blake’s tone if his lover was annoyed about the discovery. “Does it matter?”

Blake put his beer on the kitchen counter. He took Alex’s bottle and placed it next to his own. He pulled Alex into his arms. “Why would it? I already love you. I hope it’s not too soon to tell you, but I couldn’t take losing you, so if it’s not okay to love you tell me now. We’ll call it a day before I get too attached to you.”

A mix of desire and relief stormed over Alex. “I feel the same. I feel exactly the same. Being with you, it’s made me think … I’m happier, ready to change … I love you, too.”

Blake smiled before his touched his lips to Alex’s mouth. He brushed a kiss there. “Don’t change. I love you—the man in my arms—the one whose kiss gives me a hard on. The guy who brought fun into my life…”

Alex rushed to assure his lover. “I mean resume music. I always loved it, but I had an ache in my heart from stuff in the past, and I threw it to one side. I’m okay now and that’s because I met you, babe.”

Blake’s expression grew tender. “Thanks for loving me, despite my scar.”

Alex grabbed his head and kissed Blake hard. He left his lips
against Blake’s to whisper. “You need to drop the idea that scar makes you less. You are hot as hell, sexy, intelligent, cool …shall I go on, or…”

Blake merged his lips with Alex’s mouth and closed off the whisper. He grabbed Alex’s ass and ground their cocks together.

Alex murmured softly as his erection filled out. He thrust against Blake. He broke the kiss to breathe. “I thought maybe we’d go out and grab some dinner, but let’s fuck first. I’m more horny than hungry.”

Blake grinned. “Take off your clothes before I lose it and rip them from you.”

Tingles ran all the way from Alex’s chest to his balls. He pulled off his t-shirt.

Blake dragged off his suit jacket and tossed it on the kitchen counter.

Alex pushed his jeans and boxers down together. He got to his loafers and levered them off. He stepped out of his clothing and kicked it to one side.

Blake gasped and stopped taking off his shirt to circle the head of Alex’s cock with his fingers. “When your cock springs free, I get this melting feeling in my ass and my thighs go weak.”

Alex tried to unfasten Blake’s pants to speed up his undressing.

“Wait, wait, let me lick your cock for a few moments. Fucking hell, I’ll never get enough of sucking on your enormous dick.”

Alex grabbed Blake’s head, and his thick hair slipped in Alex’s fingers. The words Blake murmured made his balls lift. His stomach clenched as Blake ran his tongue up and down his cock. He gasped and thrust against Blake’s lips, unable to stop.

Blake took the head of his cock into the wet circle of his lips. The things he did with his tongue made Alex groan.

“Take your clothes off. I want you naked.”

Blake let Alex’s cock slip from his mouth in a sexy wet slide. He dragged off his shirt, and pushed off his shoes.

Alex couldn’t keep his hands off Blake. He swept his palms over Blake’s naked skin as it was revealed. He bit on Blake’s shoulder as Blake held his waist to balance and push off his pants and underwear. Desire and the promise of sex sparked between them. Alex grabbed Blake’s cock and his own, bringing them together to rub up and down. He moaned softy. “Fuck me first. I need you.” He thrust his tongue into Blake’s mouth as they kissed and crushed together. The feel of Blake’s tongue sliding on his after it had been on his cock sent waves of desire over him. Alex tore his mouth from Blake’s. He groaned as he let go of their cocks. He took his lover by the hand and brought him through the living room and into his bedroom.
