Lucas spun in Damien’s arms and faced the man. “I don’t think you would.”

Damien reached out and brushed a hand over Lucas’ cheek. “Have dinner with me tomorrow night.”

“Only if you promise this won’t happen again.”

  Damien frowned. “This?”

“You sending me away when I ache this much.”

Damien’s lids lowered, and he swallowed. “Don’t tempt me any more than you already have, Lucas. I’m trying to protect you.”

Damien reopened his eyes and then Lucas saw it… the dark lusts the man was holding back. It only drove Lucas to want more, now. Not later, not tomorrow. “Damien,” he whispered breathlessly.

Lucas closed his eyes as Damien’s lips slanted over his. The kiss was soft at first but quickly grew into a fervor. Damien claimed his mouth, his aggressive kisses drugging Lucas once more.

Damien pulled away. “I need to get you home before I completely lose it.”

Lucas closed his eyes and let Damien draw him away from the door. He opened it and urged Lucas out into the hall. He wasn’t sure how his legs managed to get him downstairs, into the garage, and into Damien’s car.

  “Where am I taking you?”

“Back to my office,” Lucas said.

Damien laughed. “Still the man of mystery, hmm? I can’t know where you live?”

“My car is at my office,” Lucas said. “I’ll need it to get back there tomorrow.”

Damien chuckled and turned on the powerful engine before throwing it into drive.

Damien closed the hotel door behind him and turned to glance at the empty room. It didn’t need to be empty. There could be a gorgeous man thrashing in his sheets, begging to come again, had he only taken what he wanted.

There was no way he could’ve trusted himself tonight. He’d laid down a gauntlet that had affected him more than he’d ever realized. All night, he’d thought about Lucas naked, on his lap, taking his punishment. It had driven him to extremes, and when he’d finally gotten here, and gotten the man over his lap, it had been too much.

He wouldn’t allow Lucas to see him completely lose control on their first night. Damien wasn’t sure what he’d do and how far he’d go, and he wasn’t going to scare off the skittish man.

Although Lucas hadn’t looked so skittish when he’d asked for what he’d wanted tonight. Lust had fueled him, it seemed, and he’d begged for Damien to spank him more. Damien had almost given in and done it. He wanted to see how far he could push Lucas before he’d shattered, but they barely knew one another.

He needed to prove himself worthy of Lucas’ trust. And the best way to do that was to maintain his control.

Peeling his clothing off, he walked towards the bathroom. Once inside, he got completely bare and turned on the shower. Before he got inside, he turned to look at himself in the large wall mirror above the sinks.

His cock was fat and heavy, leaking fluid from the tip. His gaze roamed up to his face. The look in his eyes was dark and should’ve scared Lucas. Yet it seemed to have incited him all the more.

Damien stepped under the spray and began to soap his body. When he got to his cock, he ran his hand over the length, not able to remember the last time he’d jerked off. There had been a bevy of hot men over the last six months, all ready to give in to Damien’s needs. He’d fucked his way through the lot of them, a glutton after a near lifetime of fasting.

Not one of them had he cared about. Not one of them had he wished to hold back with.

Lucas deserved to be more than one of the men on that list.

Maybe that was the reason Damien had felt the need to stop things before it had gone any further, because he still wasn’t completely sure himself why he’d stopped things. He’d claimed he didn’t want to hurt Lucas, and that was partially true.

  But it was more.

He wanted to get to know Lucas. He wanted this to be more than just sex.

Damien sensed there could be a future with a man like Lucas, as long as he didn’t fuck things up. His little game tonight might’ve already sent them on the wrong path, but Damien couldn’t imagine that was true, not when he’d witnessed the desire and need in Lucas’ eyes. Not after witnessing the man come, simply from a spanking.

Damien’s eyes closed as he remembered that moment. Lucas’ body tightening with need. His sweet cries as he came, as he gripped himself and urged the release on. Damien stroked his dick, remembering the taste of Lucas’ mouth and the way those lips parted when he cried out. He ran his hand down his length, eyes closed, the soap allowing his hand to glide along his hard flesh.

He saw Lucas in his mind’s eye, observed the man shatter with need. It had been the hottest thing Damien had ever seen, and he wanted to watch it over and over again for the rest of his life. His hand quickened over his shaft, needing to finally find relief from the lust he’d been drowning in all night.

Finally he came, with a deep cry of release, shooting his load against the porcelain tiles. He coaxed his cream out, yet felt empty once it was over. There was no warm, willing man lying in his bed to curl up to. No Lucas to hold as he drifted to sleep.

Soon enough he’d have that. He would make it happen.

  Chapter Eight

Lucas sat at his desk the following day, his ass throbbing under him. Each time he moved, stood, walked, anything, he was reminded of the night before. Damien had been on his mind all day, and he was completely distracted and unable to get one damned thing accomplished all morning.

  “How are you?”

Lucas looked up to see the man in question hovering over his partition. “What are you doing here?”

“What a welcome that was,” Damien said.

“Sorry,” he said with a frown. “It’s been a bad day.”

  “It’s only eleven.”

“So it will likely only get worse,” Lucas added.

  “Is that my fault?”

  “Actually, it is,” Lucas said.

Damien walked around the partition and sat in the small chair to the side of Lucas’ desk. He only had a small work station, with two partitions and the glass wall facing outside as his three walls. He was a junior agent and hadn’t sold enough to garner one of the offices deeper in.

“How is it my fault?” Damien asked with a grin.

“I can’t concentrate. At all. And every time I move…” he allowed the sentence to drop, knowing Damien would know what he meant.

“How can I make it better?”

Don’t leave me this frustrated again. “Nothing. So why are you here?”

“Chance has papers for me to sign. JLC agreed to my offer, so the house is mine as soon as I put my John Hancock on the contract.”

  “Congratulations,” Lucas offered.

“Why does that not sound heartfelt?”

Lucas was irritated today. He’d barely slept and obviously was no good at work—and it was all Damien’s doing. “I am glad you got the house. I’m just tired.”

“I think I like you all frustrated,” Damien said with a smile.

Lucas looked up at him. “And why is that?”

“It makes you forget to be nervous around me.”

Lucas almost smiled, but forced it back down.

Damien rose to his feet. “I’m picking you up at seven. We can celebrate me being a new homeowner. Am I to pick you up here again?”

“I’ll text you my address,” Lucas said, trying not to smile. How the man had such an effect on him, he didn’t know.

Damien lowered to kiss Lucas, but Lucas pulled back. “Damien!” he nearly whispered. “This is my workplace.”

“So?” Damien asked before finishing the job. He pressed his lips to Lucas’ gently, but with an underlying firmness that spoke volumes. He lifted his head and looked down at Lucas. “Seven. Be ready for me.”

Lucas leaned back in his chair as Damien exited his workspace, his body already reacting to that kiss.

  Ready? He was well p
ast ready at this point.

Damien walked through the local furniture store with a salesman, eyeing a few basic pieces when his phone rang.

“Excuse me,” he said before lifting the phone from his pocket.

  Jax. “Good afternoon,” Damien answered.

“Hi there,” Jax replied. “We were hoping you might stop by our job site this afternoon so we could talk to you. Or we could meet you elsewhere, if you couldn’t make it out.”

Damien tried to stifle the grin. He didn’t know the exact reason for the call, but he had an idea. “Sure, I can make it out to you. Say, in about an hour or so?”

  “Sure,” Jax answered.

“Text me your location and I’ll wrap up things here and head out.”

“Sounds good, Damien. We’ll see you shortly.”

Damien ended the call and grinned. Looked like he was getting two things he wanted today. He turned back to the salesman. “Can you have the bed and the sofa delivered later this evening? The house is completely empty, and I need at least a bed and somewhere to sit.”

“All the pieces are in stock, but to get delivery today would be next to impossible.”

“How much extra would I have to pay?”

The salesman’s eyebrow rose. “I’m sure we might be able to come to an arrangement.”

  Damien was sure they could.

  * * * *

Jax spied Damien’s sports car pull across the street. It stuck out against all the big pickups lining the narrow lane. Damien stuck out compared to them, as well, and he hoped this wasn’t a mistake. Sure, he was Golden’s friend, but sometimes friendships belonged nowhere in business. “You guys sure about this?”

Both Colt and Linc stopped their work to look up and out the window.

“One job. If that goes well, it turns into two. And three. And then we go from there. One job won’t kill us,” Colt said.

Jax nodded his head, urging the other men to follow him downstairs to meet with their future. As he made it down the stairs, Damien walked into the front door of the nearly gutted house. He looked around at the work in progress while he waited for them to meet him. Jax walked up and offered a hand to Damien.

“Glad you could make it out,” he said as Damien shook his hand.

“I was curious as to why I’m here,” Damien said as he also shook Colt and Linc’s hands in quick succession.

“We discussed your offer,” Colt said. “And we have a proposition for you.”

  “I’m all ears,” Damien said.

Jax walked over to a table sitting in the middle of the room, covered in the blueprints for the house they were currently standing in. He pulled a sheet of paper from a folder sitting atop those blueprints and handed it to Damien.

It was a spec sheet for a house for sale. A piece of shit, run-down house that looked as if it were on its last legs and he wanted to see if Damien would back out of a big project.

  “What’s this?”

“Our next flip. We thought you might like to invest in the project,” Jax answered.

Damien eyed the sheet before looking up at Jax. “The project… but not the company?”

“Exactly. This way, we can feel each other out. See if we work well together. And if that works out, perhaps we try another flip and then go from there.”

  “The terms?”

“You’d be a fourth investor. Put in twenty-five percent of the cost and get out twenty-five percent of the profit,” Colt said.

“And you need to get your hands dirty,” Linc added.

“My hands dirty?” Damien asked, a shocked look on his face.

Jax paused a second, waiting for the man to refuse. This was the caveat they had to throw in—the way they’d know just how serious Damien was about wanting to try on a new hat. They wouldn’t have some rich asshole lording money over them and trying to pull the strings when he could barely hammer a nail, but they would accept a solid partner, one willing to man up and get to work when they needed him. Sweat equity was just as important as the money backing it up.

“You can’t know what this business is about unless you work it from the ground up,” Jax said. “Pretty boy will have to work some construction.”

“I don’t know much about building a house,” Damien said, frowning.

“Good thing is, we do. And that’s our offer. Take it or leave it,” Jax said.

Jax crossed his arms over his chest, waiting to see what Damien decided. They were at a crossroads and if Damien wasn’t willing to use some muscle, they couldn’t do business.

“You’ve got yourself a deal,” Damien said with a smile.

Jax grinned, a little shocked at how easily Damien agreed. The man might not be singing the same tune once they put him to work. “You’re in for some hurting. This job isn’t for the weak.”

“Bring it on,” Damien answered. He pulled off his jacket and loosened his tie. “And why wait. I’ve got some time.”

Jax chuckled, shaking his head. “You ever swung a sledgehammer?”

  Chapter Nine

Change of plans. Come to my new house.

Lucas glanced over the screen of his phone one last time before he got out of the car. The text didn’t give him much to go on, or know what Damien had planned. The house loomed before him, dark and empty looking. No lights glimmered from deep inside. Was Damien even here? He tentatively pushed the doorbell, sure no one was home. The man had just signed the papers that morning.

He waited a moment, but when he heard nothing, he walked back down the walkway to the drive.

  The door swung open. “Wait!”

Lucas turned to see Damien’s darkened figure in the doorway. Something was wrong. He took a few steps back. “Damien?”

  “Yeah, come back here.”

Lucas walked closer, unable to really make Damien out completely. “Do you have electricity?”

Damien fumbled around and finally flipped on the outside light. The illumination nearly blinded Lucas after the darkness.

  “Sorry,” Damien mumbled.

Lucas’ eyes grew accustomed to the light, and he saw that Damien wore only what at some point had been a white t-shirt and dark pants, and he was covered in dirt. “What the hell happened to you? Are you okay?”

Damien grinned. “JLC Construction happened to me.”

  “What?”

“They called. Just like you said. But there was a caveat. I had to get dirty,” he said, leaning his head against the doorframe.

Lucas reached out and brushed Damien’s hair away from his dirty forehead. “You look exhausted. Maybe we celebrate another night?”

Damien shook his head. “We might celebrate another night, but you aren’t going anywhere.”

Lucas sucked in a breath, steeling himself. “Oh, I’m not?”

Damien grabbed Lucas’ around the hips and drew him forward. He pressed his lips to Lucas’ and kissed him deeply before pulling back. “I didn’t work this hard not to get some kind of reward for it.”

Lucas liked the sound of that. “You need a shower. You’re getting me dirty.”

Damien grinned. “Maybe we should both have a shower.”

“Oh no. You don’t get to kick me out last night only to get me that easily tonight.”

“I need help,” Damien said. “I ache everywhere.”

Lucas sighed. “You are just too much, you know?”

“Maybe,” Damien said with a smile. He leaned over and kissed Lucas again, making Lucas forget all about being irritated.

  * * * *

Damien stood naked in the shower, watching as Lucas pulled his own clothing off to join him. Lucas kept looking up, his stare traveling over Damien’s body. It was the first time Lucas was seeing him naked, so let him get his fill. Damien had nothing to hide.

Perhaps he did. He wasn’t as tired or sore as he let on. The work had been hard, but he wasn’t a weakling, either. He was suffering a little, and had fallen asleep over his new mattress instead of
getting into the shower and getting ready earlier. Luckily the bed was still covered in the plastic it was delivered in and he hadn’t fouled it up with his dirt and sweat. The doorbell had barely roused him, but when it had, he’d rushed downstairs before his Lucas left.

  His Lucas.

A smile played over his lips as he watched his Lucas pull the last of his clothing off and climb into the shower. No words were shared between them as Lucas grabbed the new bar of soap Damien had just opened. Fortunately, he’d stopped and purchased a few basics and packed his bags and left the hotel before he’d gone to work with the guys. He’d bought a pair of sheets, a couple towels, a couple plates and utensils, as well as, two flutes for the champagne he’d also grabbed.

Later, after their shower, he’d order take-out and they could eat. He wasn’t sure he had the strength for much more tonight.

Especially when Lucas’ soapy hands were roaming all over his body. He stood still and allowed Lucas to wash his body, cleaning the day’s work from him. The man’s hands felt incredible on him, and he quickly responded to the feeling.

  “I thought you were tired?”

Damien looked down at Lucas. “I am.”

Lucas gripped his hard cock. “You don’t look too tired to me.”

“I never said too tired. I don’t think I could ever be that tired around you.”

Lucas grinned, continuing to run his hand up and down Damien’s shaft.

“Keep doing that and I can’t be sure I can stop this,” Damien said, his voice low.

“I told you there was no stopping this again,” Lucas said, his voice firm.

“What happened to my skittish man?” Damien asked with a smile.

“You left a needy one in his place,” Lucien said, his eyes darkening with lust.

“Then I need to correct that mistake,” Damien said, lowering his head to kiss Lucas.

Water sluiced down their body as Damien pulled him closer. The kiss awoke the dark demon inside Damien even more. Suddenly the aching in his body no longer mattered. The only thing that did was the man in his arms and bringing that man to completion.

Before Damien could stop him, Lucas slid down Damien’s body and knelt between his legs. He’d wanted to give, not receive, pleasure, but seeing the hungry look in Lucas’ eyes made him pause. His cock responded, growing infinitely harder as Lucas gazed upon it.
