This is Not a Love Letter

I also want to thank my extended family, who are always cheering me on. Thank you to my aunt Angela for your poetry and encouragement. You gave me a green leather journal when I was ten, a place to put my special words, my dreams, and my anger, and you taught me that it was okay to write down the things you are afraid to say out loud.

My mom has been one of my biggest cheerleaders, always saying I believe in you, and reading my stories. My dad shared his love of nature and answered all my questions. And my amazing sisters, Jenn and Tara, said all the nice things.

Thank you to Adelina for taking care of my kids and our household when I’m writing. You have made it much easier for me to create.

I also want to thank my fourth- and fifth-grade teacher Mrs. Aalto. She put me in a special enrichment class where I wrote a book called The Mystery of the Poison Ivy. I was so proud of that book. Teachers can make a gigantic difference.

Finally, thank you to my husband, Gavin, and my two daughters, Madeline and Harper. You are my first readers. You inspire me every day. Your love helps shape every word I write. I love you.
