“Time to go, later Vic,” Vanessa said hitting the end button before Victoria could continue her questioning.
Just seconds later she received a text, thinking it must be Vic but when she looked at the name, her smile almost made her cheeks hurt. “Can’t wait to spend the day with you tomorrow.”
****
Saturday morning they got an early start, eating a light breakfast at the B&B and climbing onto their bikes by 8:00 a.m. in order to beat the heat. It was supposed to be in the 90’s today and the humidity was brutal. All four cruised at 16 miles per hour, with only the headwinds keeping them from going faster. They headed south on Route 33 towards Tilghman Island, stopping when they reached the beach at Black Walnut Point.
On their return trip, a quaint little café caught their eyes as it was one of the only restaurants on the island. The owners were friendly and welcoming, sitting down with them for a few minutes to ask where they were from and how they were enjoying the area.
Following brunch and a quick stop at the Waterman’s Market, they cruised during the return trip, making it back to the B&B by noon. The fresh air and breathtaking views of the Chesapeake Bay made the trip one to remember.
“I think I’m going to spend some time at the pool,” Vanessa admitted. “Maybe do a little reading.”
“Would you mind if I joined you?” Taryn asked quietly.
“I’d love that. Meet you there in ten minutes?”
Taryn nodded her head and squeezed Vanessa’s hand. She then turned to Summer and Myla who were watching the exchange. “We’ll see you in a few hours. Dinner around five?”
“Sounds good. Just give me a call if you’re going to be longer. I think I’d like to eat in Easton tonight if that’s okay,” suggested Taryn.
“Okay. We’ll make sure we’re ready by five,” responded Summer.
When Taryn gave her a knowing look, Summer laughed as Myla smiled at the exchange and shrugged her shoulders. “Promise,” Summer added with a straight face, before giving her a sly grin.
Taryn walked off shaking her head as Summer and Myla followed her up the staircase.
When Taryn walked out to the pool area, she chuckled as she took in Vanessa’s black bikini and tan lines that clearly suggested she spent a lot of time in the sun wearing biking shorts and jersey. “I know, don’t laugh. I would normally wear board shorts but I thought I might try to even some of this out today,” she said smirking. The previous evening she had done just that, wearing her favorite board shorts and tankini to avoid embarrassment. She opened her eyes to take in Taryn’s creamy white skin that barely showed any tan lines.
“I think you look great. Trust me when I tell you that I burn with even the slightest exposure to sun, unless I wear SPF 100 lotion. And if I miss a spot, I get a freckle to show for it.”
“You’re beautiful.”
“You’re full of …compliments. Thank you, and so are you, tan lines and all.”
Vanessa swatted her hand and waved to the chair next to her. “There’s enough shade if you don’t want to sit in the sun.
“No, I want to sit here next to you, but maybe I’ll inch over there in a little bit,” referring to the shade of the tree at the end of the pool. Taryn sat down next to Vanessa, placing her towel on the back of the chair and her suntan lotion in the shade.
“I’m so glad you invited me along on this trip. This place is really lovely.”
“I agree. We’ll have to do this again next summer,” Taryn said without thinking.
Vanessa glanced at Taryn and smiled, knowing she didn’t realize what she had said. “I’m officially staying two extra nights. Do you think your boss would let you join me?” Vanessa blurted out.
Taryn turned to take in Vanessa’s blushed face, smiling hesitantly back at her. “Are you sure you don’t want the time alone? I don’t want to intrude.”
“I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t want you to join me, trust me.”
“In that case, I would love to spend more time with you. I’ll ask when we see them at five. Something tells me she won’t have a problem with it at all,” Taryn smiled and leaned over towards Vanessa hoping to steal a kiss. Vanessa joined her in the middle for a soft brush of their lips. “What are your plans? I don’t want you to change anything for me.”
“I thought it might be nice to stay in Easton tomorrow night, and then on Monday I want to get an early start for a 50 mile ride. Does that sound like something you would be up for? I mapped it on Map My Ride, but we don’t have to go that far if you don’t want to. We could do a shorter ride and see some sites in Cambridge. I just thought…”
Taryn laughed out loud, she had never seen Vanessa so flustered. “That sounds great. I wouldn’t dare want to change your plans. A 50 mile ride sounds great, though I have to admit that I haven’t done one in a while. If you think I’ll slow you down, I can do a different route.”
“No, I want you to ride with me! We’ll break if we need to. I don’t mind at all.”
“Thank you.”
“I like you Taryn, a lot. I know we’ve talked about this before, but I’m not looking for a holiday fling.” Vanessa obviously wanted it to be clear that she wasn’t going to try anything with Taryn. It was an innocent request for her to stay with her for another two days. “I want more for us, a relationship.”
Taryn blushed and took Vanessa’s hand. “I’m looking for the same thing, and I think we’re moving in the right direction. I’m still a bit horrified by my behavior yesterday, but if you give me a chance, I can show you that I’m not that dramatic.” Taryn couldn’t help the blush that overtook her face and neck.
“Taryn, you thought I rejected you. I understand. Let’s put this behind us and see where the rest of the weekend takes us.”
Taryn nodded her head. “You’re on. Now tell me about this 50 mile ride.”
Vanessa explained that she downloaded a route from a site called Ride with GPS. The ride should take them through the Blackwater Refuge in Dorchester County, where for all intense and purposes, you ride through a gorgeous waterfowl park. She laughed out loud as she explained that it was rated as one of the least boring rides on the eastern shore.
While Vanessa told stories of some of her rides in Florida, where wildlife became a hindrance, Summer and Myla appeared freshly showered with lazy matching smiles.
“Hi ladies. Taryn, you better put on some more sunscreen. You’re starting to look a little pink.”
“Shit,” Taryn said pressing her finger into her skin, watching as it changed color from white to pink again. “As much fun as I’m having, if I don’t get out of the sun, I’m going to be in pain tomorrow.”
“I guess I’ve made some progress on my moon belly.” Vanessa said rubbing her stomach to indicate how white it was compared to her arms and legs. She was embarrassed for Myla and Summer to see her so exposed.
Myla laughed and shook her head. “Don’t worry, I have that too. Summer, on the other hand, has a nice overall tan.”
Summer just shook her head. “We were thinking about eating at a place called Out of the Fire. They received great reviews and the food is supposed to be wonderful. Not too fancy, but delicious.”
“That sounds great to me,” Vanessa said excitedly.
“Me too,” Taryn added. “What time is it anyway?”
“It’s 4:45. I told you we would be ready.” Summer teased.
“Wow, where did the time go. Just give me twenty minutes and I’ll be ready.”
“Meet you out front?” Vanessa exclaimed.
Both Myla and Summer nodded their heads in agreement, then each took a seat and sat down to rest for a few minutes before going into Easton for the evening.
****
They seated themselves at the table, Summer and Myla sat next to one another across from Taryn and Vanessa. Each ordered a glass of wine before dinner as they considered Tilghman Island and St. Michael’s culture. Both were considered Waterman’s towns and although St. Michaels was friendly, and rela
xing, Tilghman seemed like a world of its own. Some folks talked as if they had never left the island, their accent was so thick they were almost incomprehensible. Besides that, it was a neat place, where the Waterman welcomed them to tour their boats and offered fresh seafood from the docks. They all agreed that different was the word to describe Tilghman, but not in a bad way, just different.
When their food arrived the conversation changed to fall activities and future plans. Myla groaned over the steamed clams made with white wine garlic broth and bread crumbs, while Vanessa nodded her head and pointed at her watercress salad with hazelnut and lemon oil. Taryn laughed and gave Vanessa a second napkin to wipe the oil that was dripping down her chin.
“So, I’ve been talking with Kelly and it looks like her basketball camp is a go. Would you guys be interested in donating your time? It’ll be an afterschool program that ends just before basketball season.” When Taryn furrowed her brows, Myla continued. “She coaches basketball at Whitman High School.”
“Wow, this is something that I totally didn’t expect from her,” Taryn blurted out before covering her mouth, embarrassed that she had judged their friend.
Vanessa put her hand on Taryn’s knee and gave it a squeeze. “That’s easy to understand, considering the only time you’ve spent with her was either when she was hitting on you or someone else. But really, you have to get to know her. She isn’t who you’d think she is –believe me – I went through the same thoughts.”
Myla nodded her head and grinned. “She’s often misunderstood,” she said with a laugh. “But honestly, she’s been a great friend to me since I returned to DC. I trust her completely, and once you are her friend, she would do anything for you.”
Taryn tilted her head and smiled. She knew there had to be more to the brunette than a woman shit eating grin. She was beautiful and could probably have anyone she wanted. And probably has had a lot of woman. At least now she understood why Myla was close friends with her.
“So, what does she need?” Taryn asked, going all in.
“I’ll have to let you know. She’s already found a place that will let us play, and she’s starting to get the word out throughout the school system. She wants to favor the lower income students, those that wouldn’t be able to afford the opportunity otherwise.”
“What’s she going to charge? I mean if she’s catering to lower income.” Taryn was already excited about helping out. She liked kids and thought that what Kelly wanted to do was admirable. Then her mind slipped to Vanessa, she wondered if Vanessa liked kids… wanted kids. I know it’s too soon to talk about it but I wonder…
“Minimal, as far as I can tell. She’s getting donations for the balls and equipment, and she’s not asking to be paid herself. Kelly’s giving her own time and hopes to have volunteers, like us, or parents that want to help.” Myla grinned knowing that her friend was amazing. She only wished that she would settle down and find someone who would appreciate her for all of her better qualities.
“I’m in. Just let me know what I can do to help,” Taryn responded.
Vanessa smiled and nodded her head as well. “Me too.”
“This is so awesome. I feel like a kid again just thinking about it.”
Summer laughed and squeezed Myla’s leg. She loved seeing her excited… and happy. “I hope it does the same for me. The other day I drove around for 20 minutes with my blinker on.”
Myla patted Summer’s back and told her how great she looked while Taryn and Vanessa didn’t bother trying to hold back their laughter.
When the main course arrived, Myla and Summer shared their food while Taryn snuck food from Vanessa’s plate and vice versa. When the plates were cleared they all agreed it had been a nice day. Since they drove separately in two cars, plans were made to meet back at the hotel in Vanessa’s room, where they could sit and have another drink on Vanessa’s patio.
****
The following day Summer took the lead having input the ride into her GPS. The trip took them across the Miles River Bridge and through Unionville leading to Tunis Mills. The scenery was incredible, and although the roads could have been a little smoother, the ride was amazing. It was definitely another relaxing ride, leaving Summer and Myla refreshed enough to return to the real world.
At noon Taryn and Vanessa said goodbye to their friends and looked at one another to determine the next step. Vanessa had booked a suite at the Hampton Inn in Easton, choosing a room with two queen beds, not wanting to put any pressure on their situation.
At Taryn’s suggestion, they spent the afternoon walking around Easton, after showering and depositing their luggage and bikes at the hotel. They weaved in and out of small stores that gave a hint to Easton’s changing culture. Stores with modern ideas and eclectic art, mixed in with gun shops and boutiques catering to the rich Eastonites that more than likely supported the small town long ago. It was charming to say the least.
Taryn followed Vanessa into the elevator and when they reached the door, Vanessa keyed them in, allowing Taryn to enter the room first. Neither seemed awkward about sharing a room, in fact it seemed natural. After sharing the day together, Taryn grew fonder of Vanessa by the minute. With a quick change of clothes and a short make out session, they traveled twenty minutes to Cambridge to eat dinner, taking in some of the sights they would see the following day and to determine where they would park the following morning.
With dinner behind them, they returned to the hotel to get some rest and an early start. Taryn laid down on the bed closest to the balcony while Vanessa brushed her teeth and washed her face. As Vanessa returned to the room, she watched as Taryn took in her simple pajamas. “I had a really great time today, the entire weekend has been a nice change.”
“Will you sleep in the same bed with me? I need… I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep with you in the other bed.”
“I was hoping you would suggest that.” Vanessa smiled crossing the room and settling under the covers Taryn held up for her. She laid her head down on the pillow and Taryn did the same, after giving Vanessa a soft kiss on her lips. Their hands entwined and within minutes, both were dozing off.
Monday morning, Vanessa awoke with Taryn’s arm slung over her stomach and leg pressed against her. She smiled and kissed Taryn on the head rousing her from her sleep. Taryn stretched and laid back so her head was on the pillow. “I slept like a log.”
“Nice to hear I have that effect on you.”
Taryn felt hot next to Vanessa and knew if she didn’t get out of the bed, she wouldn’t want to. “Why don’t you get in the shower first and I’ll get us some coffee and breakfast from downstairs. I’m excited for today.”
“I’m glad you stayed with me. I didn’t want you to think it was just a ploy to get you into bed when I asked you to stay.”
Taryn crossed the room pressing her lips to Vanessa’s causing her to moan out. When they pulled apart, Vanessa was flushed and Taryn was grinning from ear to ear showing off both dimples.
“Shower,” Vanessa said, turning on her heel and practically running into the bathroom. She promised herself that she wouldn’t make any moves on Taryn during their extra time together, but she didn’t promise not to respond to passionate kisses. Taryn was making it very difficult to keep her promise to herself.
Vanessa stripped from her t-shirt and shorts and slid into the shower, turning the water to warm instead of hot. She wanted to cool off but didn’t want her wetness completely washed away. She needed to take care of herself before their ride, otherwise the rubbing of the seat would make her clit ache, putting her in a bad way for the rest of the trip. “Cool it Van. She only kissed you. You have better control than this.”
She rubbed the wash cloth across her breasts stopping to manipulate her nipple between her fingers. Her right hand slid down her soapy body between her legs, feeling her center that was slick from desire. Her fingers first went inside and then all focus remained on her now throbbing clit. Pressing her back against the wall for support
, she squeezed her left nipple and rubbed her clit with force causing her legs to wobble. “Ohhhhh,” she uttered out throwing her head forward, but not stopping her fingers until she was spent.
Her thoughts were completely on the woman in the next room, Taryn’s mouth on her clit and fingers inside of her. She had never orgasmed so hard through masturbation and knew that if and when they finally did have sex, it would be intense. “Fuck.”
Vanessa took another ten minutes before exiting the bathroom to find that Taryn had set up coffee, fruit and bagels on the table. She was concentrating on her iPad and licking the butter from her lips. “You’re beautiful,” Vanessa said at the sight before her.
Taryn blushed and took another drink from her cup, covering her face. “Nice shower?”
Vanessa gave her a stern look and then shook her head to herself. There was no way Taryn could have heard her. I was quiet… I think? Shit.
“Ready to ride? Thank you for getting us breakfast.” Vanessa said trying to take the heat away from her face.
Absolutely and you’re welcome. “Just let me finish this and I’ll be quick in the shower.”
“Don’t rush, we have all day.”
Taryn smiled and pushed the coffee towards her. “Black with light sugar.”
“Thank you.” She wasn’t surprised that Taryn already knew how she liked her coffee. Taryn was very observant and listened to her every word. She made her feel… God she made her feel hot.
****
“What the…” Vanessa exclaimed.
Taryn burst into laughter, having heard Vanessa make several exclamations during the last hour and a half. This time was no different, she was excited about the scenery and wildlife that was abundant in Black Water Refuge. “Do you want to stop?”
“Nope, I’m just amazed.”
“It’s gorgeous, but the view in front of me is even better.”
Vanessa smiled, knowing that it was going to be very hard for her to not make a move on Taryn later. Taryn had been flirting with her endlessly and she soon realized that it was a bad idea to masturbate before getting on the bike. Her clit was throbbing and she was more turned on from the vivid shower scene. She might be reserved, but her attraction to Taryn was overwhelming, and this trip had been enough to seal the deal on her feelings.
