Every kiss left her squirming and her hands were in his hair even before he could push her thighs apart and lap his tongue over her sex, making her back arch and a whispered prayer escape her lips. His hands locked around her hips, driving him between her legs and claiming her pussy with his mouth.

“Oh my… Fuck! Blitz!” she moaned as he caught her clit between his lips, sucking gently before parting her folds with his tongue and tasting her thoroughly.

She bucked against him, grinding her body to the beat of the movements of his tongue, adoring the way he felt against her. He was playing her like an instrument and she never wanted it to end. When he inserted two fingers in her, the digits slipping in easily because of how damnably wet she was, she thought she’d gone to heaven. Hissing out his name and scraping at the back of his neck with her nails, she ground into him, completely lost in the sensation of being his.

When she was seconds from cumming, his name a constant chant on her lips, he pulled out suddenly and travelled up her body and to her lips and mouth again.

“Not yet, beautiful,” he said, kissing her deeply.

Riley clung to the kiss, loving her own taste mixing with his cinnamon and vanilla as her hands undid his zipper and urged him to take the jeans off. He shucked them off, never breaking the kiss, and when his thick, pulsing cock slapped against her stomach, Riley knew she was in for a whole other kind of bliss.

“Holy hell, I’m not sure if it’s going to fit,” she blurted, eyes wide as Blitz pressed himself against her slit, rubbing up and down the length of it and covering the head with her juices.

“You’re so wet for me, Riley. You can take it,” he said with a growl that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up and her nails dig into his shoulders.

Hell yes, she was going to take it. She wanted it, she needed it, and she wouldn’t be sated without it. He kissed her again and she concentrated on the kiss as he thrust into her, his mouth on hers muffling her whimpers. Fuck, he was huge. But he worked himself into her inch by inch, giving her time to take him and to adjust to him. And when he finally bottomed out, it was the most delicious feeling of fullness that Riley had ever known.

She shook violently as Blitz pulled back, one hand on her hip and her legs around his waist.

“What do you need, Riley?” he asked, his low voice making her spine tingle.

“I need you,” she confessed, bucking herself against him, impaling herself on his big cock. “I need you, Blitz.”

It wasn’t just something she said. No, she felt it. She did need him, and want him, and desire him. The rawness of her emotions was mindboggling, but she didn’t stop to think about it or to analyze it. She needed this man and that was all there was to it. She could rationalize it later, but for now, she just wanted to feel.

“Good,” he hissed, pulling almost completely out before plowing into her hard, making her whine and moan loudly.

He threw her legs on his shoulders, angling himself deeper into her, and Riley saw stars. Each thrust took her breath away. She was clinging to him for dear life, nails scraping at his arms and his muscular chest as he fucked her into oblivious. She went into it willingly, grinning the entire time.

Her pussy clenched around him, her tightness making him grunt with each motion. Blitz was so deep inside of her that she felt like there was no way he could fill her any better. But when he lifted her hips by holding her up slightly by her thighs, she found out that she should never question Blitz’s ability to do something. He always could and it would blow her mind every time.

Her legs were shaking now and she was struggling for breath between her moans, any memory of the coldness of the water washed away by Blitz and the heavenly moment they were sharing. She reached out for him, pulling him into her, and he almost bent her in half when he leaned in for a deep, demanding kiss. Their tongues twisted together and she sucked on his lower lip, making Blitz grin.

Sweat dappled on their skin and Riley loved the way the light caught the beads, making Blitz shine with moisture. The pulsing in her core was growing maddening, taking over her body and her mind, and when Blitz plowed into her deep and hard one more time, she couldn’t hold on any longer. The orgasm washed over her easily, claiming her entirely and making her shudder and squeal under Blitz’s touch.

She cummed hard around his cock, every second of it pure pleasure, and she dragged Blitz right along with her. His fingers dug into her flesh, knuckles white as he bucked with savage desire until his movements became jerky and he let loose with a loud grunt, spilling his seed. Riley watched in wide-eyed wonder, coming down from her high, as he carefully lowered her back on the sheets, a picture of self-control, even though his body was shaking with convulsions.

Blitz grinned and those mischievous brown eyes hid far more than he would put into words. She giggled, a rush of endorphins running amuck through her. Without thinking about it any further, she reached out for him and pulled him down on top of her by his neck. They came face to face, his weight on top of her and Blitz supporting himself on his elbows.

“That’s one way to say goodnight,” she said with a smirk, pecking him on the lips once and then countless more times.

“I have no intention of saying goodnight yet,” he replied with a growl, his hands locking around her curvy body as he rolled them over and position her on top of him. “We’re just getting started, Riley.”

The way his still-hard cock throbbed against her told her that he wasn’t kidding. And she couldn’t wait.

  CHAPTER SIX

  Blitz

Blitz hadn’t slept that well in years, maybe in a lifetime.

When he woke up that morning, he was immediately and completely caught by the soft, sweet body against his. Riley was curled up, her head resting on his chest and her red hair spilling over his shoulders and neck. He carefully flicked a few locks back, smoothing her hair so that he could see the tip of her freckled little nose and the way her lips were parted as she slept soundly.

He couldn’t help but smile. She was so damnably sweet and the realization that she was in his arms made his cock wake up hard and fast. Blitz glanced at the ceiling, taking a deep breath.

You’re getting in way too deep, he told himself, but it was too late for that.

Yes, he was in deep. And yes, he was probably going to fall deeper before he could get her to Shifter Grove, but he had to face the facts – Riley had gotten under his skin and, try as he may, he wasn’t going to get over her that easy. It was the worst possible time to become infatuated with anyone – though infatuated was way too small of a word for what he felt for Riley. But that was how life worked, right? It didn’t ask a man what he wanted or when something would be convenient for him. Life happened while he was busy making plans.

Riley stirred and Blitz held his breath, not wanting to disturb her slumber. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked up at him, yawning softly. Goddammit, even that was cute.

“Morning,” he said, kissing her forehead.

“Is it morning already? I feel like I haven’t slept at all,” she admitted, wrinkling her nose as she yawned again.

“That’s probably because we haven’t been sleeping much,” Blitz admitted with a chuckle, letting her roll off of him and stretch.

His eyes followed the curve of her body as the covers slipped, showing him those rosy nipples he had sucked on and lavished with attention, and the heavy slope of her hips and thighs that drove him wild. He might have been taking her any way he could all night but that had barely dimmed his hunger. Blitz licked across his lips, getting ready to pounce once more, when his phone started buzzing so loud that Riley jumped a little.

He thumbed it shut, all the happiness and sheer joy of getting to share time with Riley seeping out of him. Duty was calling and it wasn’t about to let him forget what he had to do. Of course, this was the first time that Blitz could remember being reluctant to return to work.

“I’m sorry, beautiful. I’d love to continue this, but I need
to get out of here today. We need to start moving now,” he said, pulling Riley closer and kissing her on the lips with a tenderness he was surprised had been hiding in him.

Letting go of her was almost impossible, but she made it easier on him by pulling away on her own, looking a little bit sheepish.

“No, I understand. That’s okay, Claire must be going insane, waiting for me. I totally forgot to call her last night,” Riley said, jumping out of bed.

Blitz watched her disappear into the bathroom, regretting her exit the whole way. With a sigh, he heaved himself out of the soft confines of the sheets they’d shared and faced the facts – heaven couldn’t last. Not for a man like him.

They got out of the house fairly fast. Riley’s clothes from last night had been washed and dried and Blitz made them some breakfast sandwiches with eggs and bacon to go. Loading his Chevy truck up with the necessities, which included Riley, two small thermoses of coffee and an overnight bag for himself, they set off towards Shifter Grove.

The roads were almost impossibly bad. So bad that if there hadn’t been snow chains on his truck, he was sure they wouldn’t have gotten far at all. A very big part of him regretted the fact that he was so damn prepared. Holing up with Riley for Christmas sounded like the best possible thing he could do for his sanity.

The drive went by mostly in silence. Blitz didn’t want to drag their combined misery on for too long if he could avoid it, and keeping the truck on what could have been roughly defined as the road took most of his attention. Or so he pretended, because he kept glancing at Riley every few seconds, trying to glean what her thoughts on the whole matter were.

Had he taken advantage of her fragile state the night before? Did she feel the same way, that parting ways was almost impossible? Hell, at the very least, the past fourteen hours had taken a large chunk out of Blitz’s conviction to devote himself solely to his work, and he got the feeling that he wouldn’t even miss it much. If he could have thought of a way to get out of work, he would have done it immediately. But his wasn’t exactly a profession that could be pandered off to a random temp worker.

Every time they reached a fork in the road, Blitz was tempted to pick the one that would take him as far away from Shifter Grove and from his responsibilities as possible. At one point, Riley reached over and put her hand timidly on his thigh. He put his big palm on top of hers immediately, covering her dainty fingers with his and squeezing them gently. She smiled at that and his heart leapt. Spirits above, he’d do nearly anything to make her smile.

“Do you get to do this often?” Riley asked as they were trudging through a particularly tough stretch of snow.

“Rescue beautiful women from certain death? Have to say, it was a first,” Blitz commented wryly, giving her a wink.

It made her laugh. Good. He wanted to make her smile, giggle and enjoy herself as much as he could. After all, it would be the last time he’d get to do that, and he wanted to distill as many moments into their time together as he could. Her green eyes sparkled as she patted his leg playfully, but then put her hand back where it had been before.

“No, I mean push through snow like this. But if you want to discuss your heroics further, I’m totally game for that too, Mr…”

  “Frost.”

“Your name is Blitz Frost?” Riley asked incredulously.

Blitz nodded with a chuckle. “What can I say, my parents have an odd sense of humor.”

“And your brothers? Do they have names like that too?” Riley pried good-naturedly, quirking her brow at him.

“Some of them do,” he said noncommittally.

“You have to introduce me to them at one point. I’d love to meet the whole Frost clan. I can’t imagine having such a big family,” Riley said wistfully, extending the daydream a little further.

“Definitely,” he promised, and looking at Riley he knew that she expected it to happen as little as he did.

But it was a nice moment of escapism for the both of them. Still, Blitz wondered what his family would think of him getting so smitten with a human woman. Not just the brothers, but the rest of them too. The Frost family was anything but ordinary, but they had a long history of eccentricity that humans were usually not quite equipped to handle. While Blitz knew that some of his brothers made a habit of screwing around, it was rarely ever serious. And it definitely never happened around Christmas.

He was already supposed to have been on the airplane, making his way to the rendezvous location. Instead, here he was, trying to find the slowest, most arduous path to Shifter Grove so that he could spend just a few more moment with Riley Seston.

When they hit the first cleared road, his heart dropped into his stomach. It meant they were getting close. He’d hoped that the roads would be horrible the whole way and he’d have more and more excuses to keep taking odd little detours along forgotten forest paths, but once they hit drivable roads, it was all over.

Damn locals, he cursed sullenly under his breath.

Most of the bears had to have been hibernating at that time of year and he’d figured the big cats of Shifter Grove to be too lazy to deal with clearing the roads for other drivers. But as usual, he was wrong at the most uncomfortable time.

“So, what kind of airports do you visit?” Riley asked, probably picking up on his sour mood and deciding that she could do something about it.

If anyone could, it would be her. Blitz glanced at her, a slight smirk playing on his lips. It was a fun game, running circles around his profession, but he wasn’t sure how long he could keep playing at it before he let on too much.

“Oh, pretty much all of them.”

“I thought the Shifter Grove airport was too small for any big airplanes. Do you have like a puddle jumper or something to get here and the cargo hauler stowed away in a bigger airport?” she queried, frowning slightly.

“Our planes have better maneuverability. Think of those air force ones that can essentially come to a dead stop mid-air and lower themselves down. We can get anywhere we want to.”

“And your boss lets you take the plane out to nowhere in Idaho even if you’re off-duty?” she asked, ignoring the sign pointing at Shifter Grove that told them they only had a few miles to go.

“Oh, yeah, Nick’s a real saint,” Blitz chuckled.

It only took about five more minutes for Blitz to find Claire’s home and drive up to it, even if he went slower than any grandma on ice he’d ever seen. His stomach was in knots and his throat felt like it was closing up, his palms getting sweaty. It was a mix of adrenaline and dread that made him act ten kinds of weird, but he had no doubt about what was bringing it on. The thought of losing Riley was… horrifying.

“Guess this is it,” Riley said as Blitz came to a stop on the driveway, the front door to the house opening and a grinning woman waving at Riley.

Blitz couldn’t help himself from feeling a twinge of jealousy at the inhabitants of the house. They’d get to enjoy the company of his Riley while he couldn’t.

  “Guess so,” Blitz agreed reluctantly.

“I had a really great time, Blitz. Thank you for saving me. You can be my prince any time,” Riley said with a sad smile.

“Any time you need, beautiful,” he replied with a chuckle.

They looked at one another for a long moment and Blitz’s hands were getting white from hanging onto the steering wheel so hard. He wanted nothing more than to slam the gas and take the both of them away from there and hide out somewhere – to hell with Christmas, to hell with responsibility! All he wanted was Riley. But he couldn’t have her.

“Goodbye, Blitz Frost,” she said softly, her voice hitching a little.

“Goodbye, Riley Seston,” he said, his heart skipping a beat. He didn’t want to say goodbye.

She grabbed the door handle, unbuckling her seatbelt. But when she pressed down on it, opening the door, he snapped out of his haze. Blitz grabbed her wrist and jerked her back into him, catching her face with both hands and kissing her with all
the passion he could muster. By the way she melted into the kiss, her hands on his, gripping him firmly, he had to imagine it was enough.

Their tongues danced together and he drank from her mouth, desperate to remember the way she tasted, the way she moaned a little when he’d bite at her lips, the way she’d press against him. It was heaven and hell all rolled into one. When they finally withdrew from the kiss, they were both out of breath, panting hard.

“That’s one way to say goodbye,” Riley said, a repeat from the night before. But this time he couldn’t promise her that they were just getting started. And it ripped the heart right out of his chest.

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  Riley

Watching Blitz leave was bittersweet. On the one hand, he’d given her a night that she would never forget. Not only had he saved her from almost certain death, but he’d made her laugh, intrigued her on every level possible and… well, then there was the sex. Her knees were still wobbling underneath her.

On the other hand, he’d left, and that sucked so bad that Riley couldn’t really put it into words.

She’d been a mess for most of the day – emotionally, at least. Seeing Claire had been wonderful, of course, and relaying everything that had happened had been fun, but that was where the happy parts ended. Claire and her husbands Argo and Cooper were glad to have her and they made Riley feel welcome, but she still sort of felt like an intruder at their Christmas. Despite that, the evening was lovely and the food was exquisite, even if Riley could barely taste it with Blitz constantly on her mind.

“I really didn’t mean to impose,” Riley said, fussing around with Claire in the kitchen on Christmas morning.

They’d already done their round of gift giving, which again had made Riley feel a bit silly at best because of what had happened to the gifts she’d taken along. Now they were about to sit down at the table and have a hearty meal. Riley doubted it would make her feel much better, though. The truth of the matter was, she missed Blitz like air. Even if she knew it was basically impossible to fall head over heels for someone after just one night, she was definitely giving that notion a run for its money.
