Secret Sister

Page 22

by Sarah Price

Such was the man she had married fifty years earlier—loving, caring husband and the most righteous man she ever knew. He had been her source of comfort throughout their life together, in good times and in bad times, guiding her thoughts and prayers toward God the Almighty when his own earthly presence was not enough to help her face adversity. And now, even after his death, he had found a way to ensure that her later years would be filled with the love and care she deserved.

Standing by the table, she shut her eyes and envisioned Menno standing before her. In her mind, she felt his arms around her, embracing her as he would sometimes do when they were alone. Only this time, instead of a simple hug, she heard the distinct sound of his voice in her ear as he whispered the same words as the young woman who had just left: Merry Christmas, Grace.
