Not that her ass hadn’t looked magnificent in her teeny tiny bikini, because there wasn’t a view yet that hadn’t wanted to lick up one side and down the other.
“I know it’s a little small,” Katie flushed tugging on her top causing her boobs to bounce in response.
And just like that Colt was as hard as a rock.
“You look…” his eyes consumed every inch of her body. “Damn, Katie.”
She flushed, “So it doesn’t look awful?”
Colt tried to clear his throat—three times. “Not even close.”
CHAPTER 12
Colt couldn’t control his body’s response to Katie in that barely there bikini. Her breasts were bursting out of the small triangles and her gently rounded stomach looked so feminine and perfect. Her ass had even filled out a little bit and Colt had images of things that he knew he shouldn’t be thinking of. Most of them involved that ass of hers.
His hands itched to reach out and touch her. But he knew that would be fatal. “Are you coming in Katie-cat?” Colt did his best to keep his voice level.
Katie grinned at him as she sauntered over to the pool. Dripping a tan leg into the water, she shivered slightly. Causing her nipples to bead up against her swimsuit top.
Colt felt his swimming trunks get tighter, his dick was hard. How in the hell was he supposed to ignore that? He prayed that Katie wouldn’t see it.
“It’s a little chilly,” Katie sat at the edge of the pool and stuck her feet in. “I need to build up to these temperatures, I can’t just dive in.”
Colt knew that he couldn’t sit and watch her perfect body on the side of the pool. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Coming closer, Colt grabbed Katie’s legs.
“You can jump in yourself,” he warned, “Or I will help you.”
Katie laughed, trying to pull her legs away from him, “Stop, you maniac!”
Colt shook his head, “Maniac’s never listen,” And then pulled hard on Katie’s foot.
Katie squealed as her body flew off the side of the pool and landed in the deep water. Coming up sputtering she rounded on Colt. “That was a mean, nasty trick Coulter Andrews!”
“It wasn’t me,” Colt’s eyes widened in innocence.
Katie pushed some watcher at him, “You are so right, I threw myself in the pool. You had nothing to do with it.”
Colt gave her a shit eating grin, “You should watch yourself, Katie. We don’t want any harm done>”
Katie shoved more water at him. It was a matter of seconds before Katie ad Colt were locked in a massive water fight. Water splashing everywhere, both grabbing each other and dunking whenever possible. There were having so much fun, Katie couldn’t remember the last time she had felt this way.
Gasping for air, Katie cried for mercy, “Colt, I just need to catch my breath. Give me a second.”
In an instant, he was right there beside her, “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
His hard body started pressing against her. Katie bit off a moan, she didn’t think that would help anything.
Colt’s eyes ran over her face, the concern was evident, but there was something else.
“What?’ Katie began but left off when she felt something brush against her thigh. Surely that wasn’t what she thought it was? “Colt?”
Colt couldn’t stop staring at Katie’s mouth. He knew that he was in over his head. That he should back away, and they should remain friends. But her parted lips were proving to be more intoxicating than rum and coke, and he loved rum and coke.
Katie’s breathing was erratic, he was going to do it, he was going to kiss her. And she hadn’t realized just how badly she had wanted him too. Colt’s large body surrounded hers and when he traced the side of her face with his finger she felt another jolt of desire. His green eyes darkened as she stared back at him.
“Tell me to stop,” he whispered as he moved in closer.
But she couldn’t, Colt’s body felt so right against her. His strong arms enveloping her, as his minty breath caressed her check.
She knew for sure what had brushed her thigh earlier, as it was now nestled against her belly. And damn it, if she didn’t feel the same way.
“No,” Katie answered. Right before she reached up and mashed her lips with his.
Katie’s mind was going a million miles a minute. She couldn’t believe that she was kissing Colt. That the boy next door, who had been her brother’s best friend forever, had his lips plastered against her own. And the boy could kiss, damn could he ever.
Katie held on tight as a maelstrom of emotions surged through her. His firm lips branded her as he deepened the kiss. His taste, was something that Katie would never get tired of. He kissed her like he was starving, plundering her depths.
Katie had been kissed before, more times than she would like to admit. But it was not like this, it had never felt like this. She moaned low in her throat when Colt’s hands found the curve of her ass.
He lifted her effortlessly in the water and Katie wrapped her legs around his waist, not wanting this moment to end. If this was the only chance she had, Katie was not going to waste it.
She kissed him back almost violently. Colt felt completely overwhelmed by the force of their passion. He knew that needed to calm things down before he found himself pushing her bikini bottoms aside. He didn’t want to be that guy, not with her.
Katie meant too much to him to be a hook-up.
Slowly he eased back from the kiss, they were both panting. Colt rested his forehead against hers.
“Damn!”
His muttered curse made Katie’s lips twitch, “Pretty good, then?”
Colt growled at her, not willing to let her out of his arms yet. “Shit, that was… indescribable.”
A smile broke across Katie’s face.
“I’m not going to apologize,” Colt warned her, “You kissed me first.”
Katie laughed, “But you wanted me too.”
Colt tightened his arms around her, almost afraid that she might disappear.
Katie tucked her head into his neck. She wasn’t sure what they were now, but nothing had felt even close to being in Colt’s arms.
“If you knew, what took you so long?” Colt teased playfully.
“This won’t change anything,” Katie whispered her deepest fear, “Will it?”
Colt held her tight, “If anything, it will be better.”
CHAPTER 13
“Shut up! You got busy with Colt Andrews?” Brianna’s voice carried throughout the girl’s locker room.
“Brianna, not so loud!” Katie glanced around, hoping that they weren’t being overheard. “We didn’t ‘get busy’ it was just a kiss.”
Brianna grinned at Katie, “I am not buying that for a second. Your face is beet red, that’s telling me something.”
Katie ducked her head, as she pulled her t-shirt on. “Okay, so it was a bit more than a kiss.”
“I knew it! Colt is so freaking hot, I am surprised that it hasn’t happened before now.”
Katie nudged Brianna, “Are you about ready, we can talk more about it on the track?”
“Ugh, I hate gym. I was not meant to run.” Brianna groaned.
“You and me both!” Katie commiserated.
Walking into the school gym and taking a seat on the bleachers, the girls waited for their class to begin.
“Did you go to Mitch’s party last weekend?” Katie asked.
“Shit, no!” Brianna laughed.
“Why not? Are you not into parties?”
Brianna grimaced, “I like parties fine, but with friends, not strangers.”
Katie nodded, “I hear you. I used to think that many of them were my friends. Liam was there though. He and Mitch are good friends.”
“I know I have said it before, but your brother is finely put together.”
“That’s gross,” Katie winced, “But I know he has never had trouble finding a date. So, obviously, there are plenty of girls out there who agree with
you.”
“Is he seeing anyone right now?” Brianna tried3 to sound nonchalant, but Katie smiled anyway.
“Are you using me to get closer to Liam?” Katie teased.
“Yes,” Brianna said point blank, “I don’t like you at all. I just want a piece of his ass.”
Katie laughed as Brianna lips twitched. “Well, I love you too.”
Brianna grinned, “How’s that honesty for you?”
“Refreshing, actually, even though I know you are just kidding. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he is hung up on Heidi at the moment.”
Brianna looked over to where Heidi was sitting with a few of the popular girls. “I had hoped he would have better taste.”
Katie nodded, “You and me both.”
Their gym teacher came in, stifling the conversation as she took role. Sending all the girls out to run on track, the teacher yawned and went back into her office.
Katie huffed as she rounded the first turn. She knew that Brianna was slowing her pace to run beside her. And that meant a lot to Katie.
“To hell with this,” Katie panted, “You can keep going, I am need to walk.”
Brianna laughed, “I would rather talk to you. Besides, I work out at the gym, I have no desire to sweat at school.”
Katie pushed her hair back, “I think that it’s too late for me, I am sweating like a pig.”
“But you are a cute pig!” Brianna teased.
Katie bit off a laugh, “Thanks!”
They continued to walk around the track berating their lazy teacher who was watching the class through the window of her airconditioned office. It wasn’t anything knew, so the girls didn’t expect much.
As they passed the cheerleaders, who were also on the field, Katie noticed Heidi whispering something to Lexi Conrad.
Brianna looked between them, “What was that all about?”
Katie picked up the pace, “I don’t know. I didn’t even realize they were friends. They didn’t used to be.”
Brianna nodded, “You used to be pretty close with Lexi, didn’t you?”
Katie was quiet for a minute.
“You don’t have to tell me,” Brianna rushed to add.
“No,” Katie shook her head, “It’s not that. I am not terribly sure what to say. Lexi was my best friend up until this happened.” Katie rested her hands on her stomach, “She wasn’t like some people who started calling me names and gossiping. Lexi seemed broken up about our friendship ending. Her parents made her, they are very strict.”
Brianna didn’t look convinced, “Lexi? She is a party girl, how does that even make sense?”
Katie frowned, “Her parents don’t know a lot of what she does. She used to say she was staying over with me and then we would do whatever from there.”
“But she told them about your pregnancy?” Brianna wrinkled her brow, “Why would she do that?”
Katie shrugged, looking over across the track to where Lexi and Heidi were still staring at her. “I don’t know. I honestly didn’t tell anyone besides Lexi. I don’t know how the entire school found out.”
Brianna’s eyes widened, “Do you think she spread the rumor?”
“I don’t know, I don’t want to think that she is like that. She never hurt me in the past.”
Brianna blew out a breath, “But that was when you were hanging out with the hottest guys in school, living with two of them.”
Katie’s eyes flashed to Brianna, “Colt doesn’t live with us!”
Brianna laughed, “He might as well. You wouldn’t complain, don’t even pretend differently.”
Katie’s blush caused Brianna to laugh harder. “Shut up!” Katie couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face. She wouldn’t mind that one little bit.
“So, are you an item now?” Brianna asked.
Katie ducked her head, “I don’t know.”
Brianna stopped her, “Katie, you were holding hands when you walked into school this morning. I would say that is waving the relationship flag to the world.”
Katie giggled, “His hands are so big and warm.”
“I bet that isn’t the only thing that’s big and warm on Colt Andrews,” Brianna wriggled her eyebrows.
“Eww, you, naughty bitch!” Katie laughed, “And I don’t know that for certain!”
But Katie damn well wanted to find out.
CHAPTER 14
“Just ease your foot off the break petal.”
“I’m not ready for this!” The panic in Katie’s voice brought a smile to Colt’s face, but he knew better than to say anything to her. They had been sitting in the school parking lot for the past fifteen minutes. It had taken that long for Colt to convince Katie to turn the ignition on.
Colt had put the car in drive.
“You are ready,” Colt kept his voice calm and low. “It is a Sunday morning and there isn’t another car in sight. You can do this, Katie-cat.”
Katie’s terrified eyes met his, “Colt, I thought that I could, I really did. I wanted to for you, truly. But I feel like either throwing up or passing out.”
“Katie, you are going to be fine. I am right here. Come on, you don’t even have to go very fast. If you take your foot off the break the car will move by itself.”
“And that doesn’t freak you out?” Katie blurted out.
“Because the car is possessed? Nah, you get used to it. You should have seen me the first time that it talked to me. I about shit myself!”
Katie felt a grin spread across her face, “You aren’t funny, you know.”
Colt laughed, “I am hilarious! Katie, what is it going to take to make you drive this car?”
“Divine intervention?”
Colt pursed his lips, “You don’t believe in God.”
“I didn’t say it would be easy for you,” Katie frowned, “And I may have changed my opinion on that.”
Colt raised a brow, “You found religion?”
“I don’t know,” Katie shrugged, avoiding his gaze. “I just don’t like the thought of never seeing my parents again.”
Colt took hold of her chin, “Look at me, Katie-cat. I am an idiot. Please just ignore my stupidity.”
Katie’s troubled blue eyes met his. Immediately she felt calmer, “You aren’t an idiot, Colt. This is just another one of my hang-ups, that’s all.”
“Everyone has things they are working through. I know you miss them, Katie. Liam talks about them all the time, but you don’t.”
Katie blew out a breath, “I want to, it’s not that I don’t. It just hurts, you know? And I hate to cry, you know that I am the ugliest crier in the world. I feel like when I allow myself to think about mom and dad my heart gets ripped out of my chest all over again.”
“It’s not bad to feel things, sweetheart.”
He had never called her sweetheart before. Katie loved it.
“I know,” Katie smiled shyly.
“I know this is completely off topic, but…” Colt’s lips descended onto Katie’s.
The kiss was soft and exploratory. All the anxiety of the morning started to fade away as his lips moved over hers. Katie lifted her hand to curve around his neck and sink into Colt’s soft hair.
Colt smiled against her lips. There was nothing like kissing Katie. If Colt had his way, he would never stop.
She moaned softly in her throat. Colt growled, taking things a little deeper. Her hands roaming across his chest and lowering to his stomach. He couldn’t remember being harder. One kiss from her lips and he was ready to go. Who was he kidding? One glance from her and he was ready to go.
As things were headed to an altogether interesting location, Katie inadvertently took her foot off the break.
***
“You hit a light pole?” Liam’s wrinkled forehead said it all.
Katie and Liam looked guilty as hell. Something was not adding up.
“Did you call the police?” Liam eyed the front of Colt’s jeep. It really didn’t look too terrible, but there was
a big dent that hadn’t been there before.
Colt shook his head, “There wasn’t anyone else involved, and the light pole is fine.”
“Did you not see it?” Liam asked incredulously.
Katie snuck her hand into Colt’s. A move that Liam didn’t fail to notice. Nor did he miss the way Colt’s face lit up and the reassuring squeeze that he gave Katie.
“No,” Katie whispered, “It came out of nowhere.”
Liam wasn’t buying it, “Because light poles are knowing for their wandering habits. Hell, Colt, does your mom know?”
Colt paled, “No, I was kind of hoping that we could not tell her.”
Liam grinned, “Your ass will be on the line there. If she asks me, I am telling her the truth. That woman has saved me more times than I can count.”
“I should tell her. I don’t want either of you lying to Mrs. A, and I was driving.” Katie bit her lower lip, “Do you think she will be mad?”
Liam shrugged, “I don’t think so, if you tell her the truth.”
If anything, that made Katie feel worse. How was she going to explain to Mrs. A that she wrecked her son’s jeep while she had her tongue down his throat?
“The truth?” Katie swallowed, “Of course! Wouldn’t want it any other way.”
“What are you all doing out here in the driveway?” Mrs. A called from the front porch. It was seconds later that she spied the jeep.
“Oh, my goodness, what happened? Katie, are you alright? Is the baby okay?” Mrs. A flew down her porch steps and across the lawn. Pushing the boys out of the way she put her arms around Katie.
“Let’s get you inside angel girl. Do we need to call Dr. Williams?”
Katie allowed herself to be pulled away as Colt called out, “I am just fine mom! A little shaken up, but I appreciate your concern. Thanks for asking!”
“Stop being a smartass and get in here! I want to know what you did to your jeep.”
Katie’s lip trembled, “It wasn’t Colt’s fault.”
Mrs. A helped Katie to the couch and then sat beside her. “Don’t go making excuses for the boy. I am so mad I could spit. He should know better than to take chances with you.”
