As she pulls back, it takes Sam a moment to open her eyes. When she’s able to refocus, she smiles and laughs a little.

  “I was not expecting that. Thank you.”

  “You’re welcome, little bear.”

  “I love you.” Awenasa smiles and kisses her lips again. “I love you too.”

  One by one, she gives each of them a hug and short kiss, leaving all of them blushing and grinning. Its adorable.

  I’m awoken by someone quietly moving around the bedroom. I slowly open my eyes and see Shannon wrapped in a towel and putting her watch back on that she had placed on the dresser last night. I’m lying on my side with my arm wrapped around Awenasa, but I slowly lift my arm and climb off of the bed. Shannon’s smile widens as she takes my hand and we walk down the hall.   “Can I fix you something to eat while you’re getting ready for work?”

  “Will you eat with me?”

  “Yes. What would you like to eat?” She smiles as she kisses my lips and runs her fingers through my hair. “Whatever you feel like making. Just try to be quiet so the others can sleep in.”

  “Ok, I’ll be quiet.” I start to turn to walk into the kitchen and she laughs a little. “You should put some clothes on. The thought of you in here naked making breakfast for me has me seriously considering calling out today.” I smile and kiss her lips. “Ok, baby. I don’t want to get you in trouble at work again, so I’ll put this sex machine away.”

  She laughs loudly and quickly covers her mouth and looks towards the bedroom nervously. She takes my hand and pulls me to the spare bedroom. I quickly throw on a tee shirt and a pair sweatpants.   Shannon likes to start the day with a meal high in protein and a carbohydrate, like oatmeal, potatoes, or buttered whole wheat toast. I decide to make her some cheesy scrambled eggs and a bowl of oatmeal with fresh strawberries.

  As I’m pouring boiling water into a mug to make her favorite morning tea, she comes into the kitchen fully dressed, with her dirty blonde hair pulled up into a ponytail. We carry the food and drinks out onto the balcony to eat, so our talking wont wake up the others.

  “Thank you for fixing breakfast. This is really good.”

  “Yours is better, but you’re welcome.”

  “I think you’re turning into a morning person. You’ve been getting up early pretty regularly for a while and you don’t sleep heavy in the morning like you used to. I thought once Awenasa moved here, you’d start sleeping in again, but it’s almost been a week since she came to live with us.”

  “Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. Does that mean I’m growing up, baby?” She laughs and shakes her head. “No, I think you’re feeling the weight of your responsibilities more and you’re starting your days earlier to fulfil them.”

  “That’s a very astute observation.” She smiles and laughs a little. “What are you going to do today?”

  “I’m supposed to meet with Trudy’s dance teacher today to go over the plan for the event at her school. I received the release forms from the lawyer, so I’ll give her those to have completed before the event. When I come home, I’ll need to continue working on the choreography for that. We almost have the editing done for the dances I did with Awenasa at the gathering, so I’m going to try to get those uploaded to the channel today.”

  “Sounds like another busy day. Please take some time to just do nothing. You don’t want to burn yourself out when you have that big trip coming up. You need to try to relax a little more so you’re not too exhausted to work.”

  “I know. There’s just so much to do. I need to have a game plan and all of the legal stuff figured out for these dance choreography events before school starts again. Actually, before I leave for California. So, I have less than two months.”

  Shannon sets her cup of tea down and takes my hands.

  “Sweetie, you are putting too much pressure on yourself. We want your dance business to be successful, so we need to take our time with building it. We don’t want to miss any important details or mess up just starting out. You don’t have a deadline to have this in place. I know you’ll be very busy when school starts, but all of us will work together to help you make this happen the right way at the right time.”

  “I just want to make sure all of you are taken care of and have everything you need.” Shannon smiles and kisses my lips. “I know, but we’re doing really well right now. We’re not struggling and we’re still putting money away in savings, so you don’t need to worry so much. Do something for me today?” I smile and nod. “Anything, you know that.”

  “After your meeting, take the girls to lunch. I want you to get out and relax and have some fun.”

  “But, you have to work. I don’t like the idea of all of us going out like that when you’re not able to come with us.”

  She smiles affectionately and pulls me into a soft kiss. God, I love kissing Shannon. She puts so much love into her kiss that it makes me swoon every time. I inhale deeply and lean forward into her, making her smile against my mouth. She starts to pull back, but I follow her and keep her engaged. She releases a small laugh between the tumbling of our lips and tongues. I place a hand on her thigh and squeeze, making her moan and she quickly pulls back and places a hand on my shoulder, keeping me back.

  “That kiss more than makes up for missing lunch with all of you.” I smile really big and she giggles a little. “Ok, we’ll go to lunch, but I’m going to have dinner ready for you when you get home.”

  “That would be nice.”

  “Or, would you like a hot bubble bath first?” She giggles and her face lights up with a big happy smile. “Tell me more about the bubble bath so I can decide.”

  I look down at myself and then back up at her with a pouty look.

  “It’s the lazy clothes that makes you uncertain, isn’t it? Do I need to strip down again?” She laughs hard and shakes her head. “No, keep that sex machine put away or I won’t be able to make a single responsible choice today.” I smile really big and start to lift my shirt, as if I’m going to strip down right here on the balcony. She laughs as she grabs my hands and firmly kisses my lips. “A bubble bath with you would be great.”

  “Good, it’s a date. We need to talk to the office about getting a bigger bath tub so we can have family bath time. Do you think we can convince them to upgrade us to a giant jacuzzi with jets?”

  “No, but that does sound really nice. Maybe one day when we have a house we can install one.”

  “A house with my babies.” I smile really big and she giggles. “Ok, sweetie, I better get going. Thank you for breakfast and for eating with me. I don’t like that your mind is burdened, but I do like when you get up early and eat with me. It’s nice not getting up alone.”

  “Then I am definitely going to become a morning person. I don’t like when I don’t see you before you leave, so if I’m not already awake, then you wake me up when you’re getting ready.” She smiles and stands up with our dirty dishes in her hands. “Ok, sweetie. Walk me back inside so I can get a hug and kiss.”

  We quietly put the dirty dishes in the sink and I walk her to the door. She wraps her arms around the back of my neck and looks in my eyes with a very happy serene smile.

  “Please be careful driving and all. I’m going to miss you today, but I’m going to have something nice waiting for you when you get home.”

  “I’ll probably be smiling all day thinking about coming home to you and the bubble bath.”

  “Good, because you have an amazing smile. I could look at it all day.” She laughs a little and kisses my lips. “How are you so perfect?”

  “Because I have a piece of each of my perfect babies inside me.”

  “I loved that seed explanation you gave Joey when he asked you why you have so many wives. When you were out in the storm, your voice was playing over and over in my head and my heart was breaking, thinking I was about to lose
you. I wanted to run out of the house and find you, just to be by your side.” I smile and pull her into a short kiss. “You were exactly where I needed you, to be able to get through that. Knowing you were waiting inside and needed me by your side helped me fight through that storm to get back to you.”

  “I love you, Kayla.”

  “I love you too. I hope you have a good day.”

  “Thanks. Now, don’t forget your promise to flex your sloth skills today.”

  I laugh hard, and quickly cover my mouth, looking towards the bedroom. She smiles and pulls me into a sweet soft kiss.

  “See you later, sex machine.” I grin really big and hold the door open for her. “See you later, beautiful.”

  I watch her walk down the hall, and as she’s turning to walk downstairs, she looks back with an adorable affectionate smile that makes me feel warm inside.

  I quickly wash the dishes from making breakfast and then quietly walk back to the bedroom. Madison and Sam are curled up together with Madison’s arms wrapped around Sam, and Awenasa is still laying on her side facing them, but they’re all still sleeping. I try to climb back onto the bed behind Awenasa without waking her, but she slowly lifts her head and looks up at me before I can even lay down. She smiles and rolls over to lay on my chest. She lifts my shirt and rests her hand on my stomach and drapes her leg over mine. I kiss her head and wrap my arms around her, holding her close.

  I hold her for a while, just waiting for them to wake up. It really is crazy how I’ve turned into a morning person. At first, I thought it was just my impatient energy of waiting for Awenasa to be able to move here. But Shannon’s right. It’s been about a week and I’ve gotten up with her every morning. I really don’t like Shannon having to get up and eat breakfast alone when we’re all home. Maybe that’s why it’s becoming such an easy habit. I know the dance business stuff is weighing on my mind, but I think it’s mainly because I really like the mornings with Shannon.
