“Well, you could see it that way,” Hope said, walking towards Tony. “But Hope can also be a form of torture, the last thing you want to have in an unredeemable situation. It appears as a force of good, but it could just as easily be the source of torment, maybe even more so.”

  “Like love,” Tony said.

“Yes, actually,” Hope replied. “Like love.”

They both stared each other down for a while. “You have a very interesting mind, Hope, very interesting,” Tony said.

“Are you both done staring into each other’s eyes?” Gabe asked.

Hope had almost forgotten that he was there. Tony had such an enchanting aura, similar to Gabe’s but much more fun and lively. He also seemed to be smarter than he let on.

"Don't be that guy, Gabe," Tony pouted. "Don't be jelly; it doesn't suit you well."

“When are you leaving?” Gabe asked. “I have work to do.”

“Then go work, bro,” Tony said. “Hope and I can stay here and, you know, chat, right, Hope?”

"Yeah, I'd like to get to know your brother, Gabe," Hope said. "You can go to work if you need to."

Gabe stared at Tony for what seemed like forever. He was furious, but Tony didn’t seem to be fazed by him at all. Tony stared right back at Gabe, and Hope realized how willful both these people were.

“Well, if you’re not going to say anything,” Tony broke the silence.

“Hope, tell me more about this fateful night you guys met at the hotel.”

“Right, so Gabe came up to me, trying to flirt with me,” Hope smiled.

“Oh, my gosh, I can’t even imagine him flirting,” Tony cringed. “Please make it stop!”

“It wasn’t that bad,” Hope laughed. “It really wasn’t.”

“Right, right, right,” Tony calmed down. “Okay, go on.”

“Yes, it wasn’t bad, so it worked, then we got to the elevator and . . . things happened,” Hope continued.

“Couldn’t wait till you got to the room, huh?” Tony smirked. “I definitely know the feeling.”

“Yeah, it was going well, but someone interrupted.”

  “Damn, what an ass.”

"Yeah, I was actually really pissed about that, but it was my friend," Hope said.

“You think she wanted a piece of your man over here?”

“I would be worried, I mean she was gorgeous, but she was murdered the following morning, so,” Hope said.

Tony’s demeanor changed. He looked at Hope with a serious face, and then he looked at Gabe, seeming suddenly a little angry.

“Do they know who did it?” Tony asked, his eyes still on Gabe.

"No, but I'm determined to find out," Hope said.

“You some sort of detective, Miss Bridges?” Tony asked.

“I believe ‘some sort of’ is the perfect description,” Hope said. “I’m a journalist, but I specialize in crime. I know my way around a murder.”

Tony chuckled. “Gabriel here and I know our way around murders as well, don’t we, big brother?”

  “Really?” Hope asked.

"Yeah, we were both very good at deduction," Tony said, keeping eye contact with Gabe. "I was always better, though. Believe it or not, he was pretty competent, but he always let his emotions blind him from the truth."

“Gabe? Emotional?” Hope exclaimed, hardly believing her ears.

"Yeah! This cold-faced brooder is actually the emotional one," Tony said. "Why do you think he has such a temper? He's very sensitive. He expects so much of people, and when he's inevitably disappointed, because really no one can live up to his expectations, he lashes out. But really, he's a softie."

"Wow," Hope said. She looked at Gabe, but he was still frowning, holding his staring contest with Tony.

“Yeah, he can be very predictable that way,” Tony said. “I was always one step ahead of him, always closer to the truth.”

"That's… interesting," Hope said. She was starting to feel weird about both of them. "Why do you guys have so much friction? What's the issue here?"

"All in due time, Hope," Tony said. "About this friend that died . . . Do you have any suspects?"

“Not at the moment, no,” Hope answered.

"Why not? You're intelligent, aren't you? Don't tell me you're letting your emotions cloud your judgment like broody over there," Tony said. "You said you were angry that she interrupted your love session in the elevator, right?"

  “Yeah.”

"But as far as you know, it wasn't you, unless you sleep-murder or something," Tony said. "But imagine how angry Gabriel here must've felt. He can hardly control his impulses. Did anyone else see her before she went to bed?"

Hope shook her head slowly. “No.”

“So, apart from you, Gabriel was the last one to see her before she was murdered,” Tony said.

“What the hell are you implying? Out with it and stop beating around the bush. Just say it,” Gabe finally spoke.

Tony didn't have to say anything, though; Hope knew what he was trying to say.

“Hope, has Gabriel told you about our family yet?” Tony asked.

  “Not really, no.”

"So, I'm guessing you haven't heard what happened with our dad."

Gabriel knew where Tony was going with this, and he couldn’t let him get there. “That’s enough, Tony.”

  “What happened?” Hope asked.

"Too late now, brother, she's already curious," Tony smirked. "Plus, didn't you hear? She's a detective; she was bound to find out somehow."

  “Find what out?” Hope asked.

Tony looked Hope in the eyes. “Gabriel killed our father.”

Gabriel saw the horrified look on Hope’s face.

  “You what?” she gasped.

Gabriel was speechless. He wanted to explain, but the words wouldn’t come to him. All he could do was stare.

“Is that true?” Hope asked. “You killed your dad?”

More silence. Gabe saw the tears in Hope's eyes, she was, without doubt, actually entertaining the suspicion that he had killed her friend, and he couldn't blame her.

She ran out of the room, and he didn't stop her. He knew whose fault this was; it was his own.

  Author Note + Thank you

  Hello Beautiful Readers!

Thank you for reading; I hope you love the story as much as I do. If you could spare some time, I’d like to get to know each other a little better?

  Okay, I’ll go first…

I’ve been reading and writing ever since I was small, but going from princes saving princesses to sexy, strong, confident women bringing hot, possessive, dominant alpha males to their knees was quite the change!

Instead of following my dream of becoming an author (I know!), I decided to study something you’d consider ‘sensible’ for too many years. While studying, I took every spare second to continue writing sultry stories, inspired by the many scandalous parties I went to and my dating life
– which has been everything from fun one-night stands and heartbreak to finding true love. I’ve absolutely no regrets, and nothing could hold me back from writing about every second of it!

Eventually, the mundane 9-5 took over, leaving little to no time for reading, let alone writing. Necessity pulled me from job to job, never using my ‘sensible’ degree and never getting any further. After years of it, enough was enough and I took the leap to write full-time. It was a risk, but it’s brought so much light back into my life.

I put a little bit of myself in every story, taking months to perfect each one for you.

This series means the world to me, so I’d love to hear your feedback. (I make sure to read every single one.)

Leaving a review also helps get word out to others about my hot, dirty, fun reads!

Thank you so much for your continued support!

  With Love,
