Amanda's Wolves

Sawyer grinned. “That’s it, really. And believe me, this strange supernatural presence is as unnerving to us as it is to you.”

She burst out laughing at the statement. Not a normal jovial giggle but a full condescending laughter that didn’t end until her eyes watered and she had to wipe tears from her face. “Strange supernatural presence?” she repeated.

Her face sobered, and she jumped to her feet. “You.” She pointed at Sawyer. “And you.” She shifted her finger to thrust it toward Logan. “You are a strange supernatural presence. How the hell can you sit there and tell me about some weird black aura as if you can’t believe it yourself while I’m still trying to wrap my head around the existence of wolf shifters?” she shouted.

  Sawyer flinched. She was right.

  And then the doorbell rang.

  Great. The pizza.

Amanda turned to tromp from the room before either man could respond.

Sawyer groaned as he lifted himself up and trudged to the door. “That went well,” he muttered.

He whipped the door open without considering for a moment that he wore nothing but unbuttoned jeans. Surprisingly, the delivery boy was a girl, however, and her mouth gaped open as she stared at him.

He dipped his hand into his back pocket and pulled out several bills. “How much is it?”

She handed him two boxes without speaking. Lord. The receipt was on the top box, and he glanced at it, mentally added five dollars, and handed her the total. “Thanks,” he muttered. Half of him wanted to chuckle at the way she still stared. But he had bigger problems, and instead, met her gaze. “Anything else you need?”

She jerked her gaze from his crotch, up his bare chest, and across his face until she met his eyes with a flush. And then she fled the front step.

Sawyer watched her back for a second before something crawled up his spine, making him glance around the parking lot in front of the condo. He had no idea what had ahold of his chest, but it tightened until Logan was suddenly at his side, taking the boxes from his hand and tugging him back a few steps to shut the door.

Sawyer lifted his gaze toward Logan. “Something was out there.”

“I know. I felt it too. But we don’t need whatever or whoever it is to realize we’re onto them.”

Sawyer nodded. Logan was right. Suddenly he wasn’t nearly as hungry. If someone or something meant harm to him or his mates, he would blow a gasket. If anyone thought for a second to lay a hand on Amanda…

  Chapter Eighteen

Amanda wandered back out to the living room, trying to control her anger. She would have loved to sulk in private for a few hours, but that would solve nothing. Besides, she was starving, and the smell of pizza had made its way to the master bedroom where she’d been pacing for the last few minutes.

At least neither Logan nor Sawyer came after her. She might have thrown a punch. It would have hurt her more than them, but she still would have done it. She was that stressed.

“Amanda, we’re so sorry. I know this isn’t what you envisioned for your life. Believe me, if I could make it any easier, I would.” Logan eased back into the same seat he’d been in before, not approaching. Two boxes of pizza sat in the center of the table, and there were several sodas and bottles of water scattered on the surface too.

Her stomach growled, and she wasn’t too proud to sit back down and stuff her face. The moment Logan opened the first box, she moaned. They’d ordered that first pizza exactly how she loved it—peperoni, olives, and mushrooms. She smiled. Not many men would do that for a woman.

Without saying anything, she grabbed a plate and two slices and sat down to sink her teeth into it, hoping she wouldn’t burn the roof of her mouth in her haste.

Sawyer opened the other box and grabbed a slice of what looked like meat lovers. Also a good choice she wouldn’t turn down, but when they’d asked her earlier in the day what her favorite pizza looked like, she’d told them, and now she was enjoying the fruits of her honesty.

And she’d learned something. Never underestimate her men. They had good memories and used them to make her feel more at home.

She lifted her gaze to find Sawyer chewing on a bite while looking at her. “We are sorry,” he said as he swallowed.

“I know. I’m just drowning in information. I hope you’re done.” She hadn’t begun to process the latest, but she would. She had to. Every ounce of her soul told her to face this head on. She was with them for life. She couldn’t explain how she knew that, but she did. And she had to trust them, weird black auras and all.

They all three ate like wolves…literally. And when the last piece was devoured, she took a long drink of soda and then looked at Sawyer. “Will you shift for me?” She had two reasons for the request. One was that she’d seen Logan last night but hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing Sawyer. The other was she needed the reinforcement that it was real and not a figment of her imagination.

Sawyer chuckled as he scooted his chair back. “Well, I’m not a figment of your imagination, but I’ll be glad to reinforce what you saw.”

She flushed. “And stay out of my mind. It’s disconcerting.”

“We can’t help it. You’ll learn to block us when you want, but we won’t like it.”

She crossed her arms again, well aware what it did to her breasts. She’d seen the look on Sawyer’s face when she’d done it earlier. He could be brought to heel with that small gesture alone. “Just show me your wolf and get out of my head.”

He lowered the zipper on his jeans and then shrugged them over his hips until he could step out of them.

Damn. She’d forgotten this part. He needed to strip first or risk ruining his clothes. If she’d considered that aspect, she might have asked him to switch forms the second she entered the room earlier.

The man stood so tall and broad, any woman would swoon. And he was hers. No other woman would ever get the chance to see him like this again. No matter how many eyes she watched following him around a crowded restaurant for the rest of her life, she would be able to smirk at them, knowing they would never experience what she would enjoy behind closed doors.

Logan chuckled to her side. “Baby, you’re going to have to block better than that.”

Sawyer leaned his hands on the table, his cock bobbing in front of him, fully erect. “I’m going to shift for you because you asked, and I know you need to see it again, but I’m not going to stay in wolf form long. Your thoughts are killing me.” He stroked a hand down his shaft.

She swallowed, wishing it were her hand instead of his. She hadn’t had the opportunity to explore either man sufficiently. They’d taken every inch of her body, and she’d spent the majority of their time together on her back at the mercy of their mouths.

Sawyer righted himself with a low groan. “Woman…” He dropped to the floor on all fours.

She stood to round the table for a better view as his bones popped and stretched and reshaped into another form. His hair elongated at the same time, and his snout protruded from where his human jaw normally resided.

It happened so fast, just as it had last night. If she had blinked for any extended period of time, she could easily convince herself Sawyer left the room and this wolf had come in to replace him.

But there was no denying what happened.

  He was so gorgeous.

She stepped closer, and he padded toward her tentatively. When she reached out a hand to stroke his fur, he tilted his head and set it on her palm. She giggled. His fur was a dark brown, almost black like his regular hair, and his eyes were the same brown when he blinked up at her. His tongue wagged out of his mouth, and she jumped back, half afraid he would try something with her in his wolf form.

Logan chuckled at the end of the table. “We don’t mate in wolf form, baby. He’s harmless.”

He was anything but harmless. After all, he’d stolen her heart. He and the other large man currently making fun of her.

She buried both hands in his back, getting bolder,
wanting to feel his hardness, and wondering if he was as tough in wolf form as he was in his human skin. He was.

He let her explore, but after a few moments, he backed up, breaking contact, and shifted back into human form.

When he stood, completely naked, his cock once again bobbing between them, he stalked toward her, the look in his eyes telling her she was about to get devoured. And she didn’t mind.

  ∙•∙

Sawyer hadn’t stopped thinking about spreading her out on top of the table since she’d lowered herself into her chair earlier. And he needed her so badly now he couldn’t stop himself from making that fantasy a reality.

He heard Logan scoot his chair back next to him. “I’ll move the dishes. Hang on,” he said into Sawyer’s head. The man was going to have to move fast if he intended to save the plates. Otherwise, Sawyer was going to swipe them to the floor.

Amanda’s eyes widened, and she took a step back until her ass bumped into the edge of the glass tabletop. She swallowed hard as she tipped her head back and met his gaze. Her small hands landed on his forearms.

He shrugged her off, grabbed the hem of her T-shirt, and whipped it over her head. His gaze wandered down her body. Lord, he was one lucky man.

Her nipples puckered to stiff peaks, and a slow inhale told him she was wet and aroused. He leaned in closer, setting his hands on the edges of the table and trying to avoid direct contact with her body.

He lowered his lips to hers and kissed her chastely before giving up the farce and smashing his mouth against her to devour her taste. Pizza sauce and spicy peperoni masked slightly by the syrupy sweet soda she’d finished after eating.

He stroked her tongue with his while she reached between them and set her palms on his chest. He could feel his pulse through her fingers.

When he released her mouth, she swayed toward him.

He glanced at the table to find it cleared and Logan standing on the other side. He nodded toward the surface.

Sawyer let go of the glass top and grabbed Amanda’s hips so fast, she let out a small cry. He set her ass on the table and gently lowered her back until Logan took over, cradling her shoulders until she lay flat on the clear surface between them. Her head was almost in Logan’s crotch.

The man had also shed his jeans. And he immediately reached for her breasts, leaning over her to cup them not half as gently as they had both fondled her earlier.

She moaned and arched her chest into Logan’s hands.

Sawyer lifted both her ankles and set them on the table far apart, forcing her pussy open wide to his gaze. There was no way she could possibly be expected to keep them there, so he slid his hands up to her thighs and wrapped them around as far as he could to press them wider.

He inhaled again, drawing her essence into his body. She smelled like the floral soap she’d used in the shower, and Amanda. Her musk was potent. It would drive him crazy for years. Whoever said the mating frenzy would last a few weeks before slowing down hadn’t been mated to Amanda. There was no way he would get his fill of her in that short amount of time.

Her arousal spilled from her pussy to leak toward her ass, and she thrust about on the table, making Sawyer glance up to find Logan had her hands squeezed between his thighs, his face hovering over her chest, and his fingers pinching her nipples.

Sawyer blew out a breath. She was so fucking hot. Any doubt he’d had about sharing her with another man dissipated entirely at the visual in front of him. He simply didn’t have enough hands to propel her to this state of total wanton abandon alone. Fate knew what She was doing.

He lowered his face to her pussy and stroked his tongue through her sweet juices. She was close to coming. He could smell it. And he wanted to devour this orgasm, so he sucked her clit into his mouth and then gently grabbed it with his teeth.

As he expected, she came, her clit pulsing between his teeth hard enough for him to feel the force of it swelling. She screamed, writhing on the table in an effort to escape Sawyer’s determined lips. She would not, however. He had other plans.

As he felt her orgasm subside, he flicked her clit a final time and lifted his face. “Let’s flip her onto her belly,” he suggested to Logan alone.

Logan lifted his face from her chest and nodded, releasing her nipples to reach for her shoulders.

“On your belly, hon,” Sawyer requested. He grabbed her hips to help her turn.

Her eyes were glazed, indicating she was still under the spell of her orgasm. When she settled on her stomach, her hips on the edge of the table, her legs dangling over the side, she could just reach the floor with her toes. She rocked forward on her elbows, licking a line up Logan’s shaft, obviously taking the man off guard.

Logan grabbed her shoulders and moaned, thrusting his cock forward, eager to feel her lips around his shaft.

Sawyer felt a twinge of jealousy, which he shook off as he shifted his gaze from Logan’s cock to his own and the perfect way her pussy was presented to him at just the right level. He grabbed her hips in both hands and thrust into her without warning.

She was tight. So fucking tight. But he knew she was stretched enough between everything they’d done earlier and the way her muscles would be loose after the intense orgasm she’d just had.

He fucked her fast, holding her steady when it seemed she was intent on squirming away from him.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want him to mate with her. It was simply that she was overloaded on sensations. Her mind darted around from thought to thought, making it difficult to keep up. But he heard her loud and clear over the firing of every synapse in her body. She wanted him to fuck her just as hard as he was. In fact, she wanted more.

And he would give her more. They had a lifetime of more. For now, though, he wanted to enjoy her, hold his breath, and thrust in and out at a pace that would permit him to maintain the euphoric erection he had.

He stroked his hands down her legs, grabbed her shins below her knees, and lifted her legs off the floor. She bent her knees for him, and he spread her wider. His eyes rolled back as he thrust deeper, getting a better angle with her legs suspended in the air by his hands.

He was so close to orgasm, and he glanced at Logan to judge his expression.

Logan’s face was scrunched as he fought the need to come also.

  Yes. Their lives were perfect.

Now he just needed to ensure they stayed that way.

  Chapter Nineteen

“What?” Amanda bolted upright in the bed, trying to wake up enough to understand what Sawyer was rambling about.

“Have to go, hon.” He leaned over her naked body and took her lips in his, cupping her face with one hand. “It sucks. But it’s my job. I put out fires. There’s a fire. I get a call. I run.”

“But…” Her voice trailed off as she watched him shrug into his jeans, jumping off the floor to get them over his hips.

He grabbed his socks next and tugged them on. And then his boots. It wasn’t until he was dashing from the room that he slipped a T-shirt over his head.

Logan had handed it to him. “Keep us informed, Sawyer. I don’t like this.”

Sawyer turned around in the doorway. “You and me both.” He pointed at Amanda. “Keep her safe. Something doesn’t feel right. Call Melinda. Hell, call Laurie too. And Mimi. I’ll contact you when I can.” With that, he fled the room. Seconds later the front door opened and closed with a resounding snick.

Amanda jumped in her skin. Goose bumps rose on her arms, and she crossed her hands to rub them.

Logan was at her side in an instant. He tugged her down so her back was spooned against his front, and then he pulled the comforter over them both. His lips landed on her shoulder. “He’ll be fine.”

“How do you know?” Her heart still raced from the whirlwind experience. Had Sawyer really just left the condo, or was she dreaming?

“He’s a hotshot, baby. The best of the best. He knows what he’s doing.”

  “He’s distracted. We just me
t…mated. He can’t possibly be at his best. And he hasn’t slept enough.”

  “He’ll be fine,” Logan repeated.

She knew he didn’t believe the words any more than she did, but she tried to control her erratic breathing and calm herself.

Before she could pull herself together, a phone rang.

  “What time is it?”

Logan reached across her body to snag his cell from the bedside table. “Five. The sun will be up soon.” He glanced at the screen and then answered it. “Melinda?”

Amanda rolled onto her back and stared at Logan’s concerned face.

“He just left… How did you know? Okay… Yeah, she’s right here with me.” He smiled down at Amanda and winked. “Yeah, I’ll tell her. Thanks for calling.” As he ended the call, he tossed the phone onto the mattress behind her.

  “What was that all about?”

“Melinda had a feeling. She was worried.”

“A feeling? Are you kidding? It’s the middle of the night.”

Logan snuggled back down next to her. “You’ll get used to it. The Bartel and Hamilton siblings are so sensitive they make my skin tingle. She wants me to bring you to her house when we get up so she can get to know you better.”

“Sounds like a ploy.” Amanda could tell by his voice there was more to it.

He chuckled. “Probably, but it will keep your mind off Sawyer for a while.”

“Do you think he’s in danger?”

“Fires are always dangerous, but no. I’m not too worried. Fate wouldn’t bring us together and then tear us apart so quickly.”

“How long do you think he’ll be gone?”

Sawyer held her closer. “No idea. I’m sure he’ll fill us in on the details when he can. Depends on the size of the fire. His job is demanding. When he gets called in, it could be days or weeks. It could also be far away.”

She stiffened. The idea of him being gone that long made her stop breathing. It would be bad enough months or years into their relationship, but the timing today was horrific.
