Their Child? Page 54

by Christine Rimmer

She grinned at him, a smile that spoke of some hidden knowledge she wasn’t sharing. “Open your present.”

Ry studied the package for a moment, then carefully unwrapped the ribbon. Next he took off the wrapping paper. As soon as he saw the contents of the box he stopped. The magnitude of the event washed over him. He looked at Jean and saw the love in her eyes. He pulled her into his arms. The love he felt for her swelled inside him until there wasn’t room for anything else.

“I can’t believe this…you bought me a train. After twenty-four years I finally have my train.”

“I thought it would be something you could share with our son.”

He felt his eyes widen in shock. His words came out as a soft whisper. “Our son? Our baby will be a boy?”

“Yes, the tests confirmed it today. We’re having a boy.”

Ry held her tightly, his words barely audible. “A son…”

  “I love you, Ry.”

“Even though we’re married, just seeing you still takes my breath away.” He placed a loving kiss on her lips. “I love you so much. I can’t imagine what the rest of my life would be like without you as part of it.”

“You’ll never have a chance to find out because I intend to spend the rest of my life with you.”
