So that was it. Edwina did not wish her to go but she wasn’t the sort to come out and say such a thing. Beryl felt a warm glow wash over her that had nothing whatsoever to do with the fire. She realized in a flash that leaving Walmsley Parva, or Ed, was the very last thing on her mind.
“We may have gotten to the bottom of an old mystery and a new one.” Beryl flashed her friend a sparkling smile. “but that doesn’t mean there is nothing else that needs investigating.”
“You think there is something else nefarious going on in Walmsley Parva?” Edwina leaned forward in her chair, a flicker of hope passing over her small features.
“I’m certainly going to stick around to find out,” Beryl said. “That is, if you can put up with me for a bit longer.”
“I can’t think of anything I’d like more.”
