Margo's Lullaby

“Are you going to write a book? Become a motivational speaker like other families have over the years?” The interviewer asked with an eyebrow raised, but a smile curving her lips.

Gabby smiled. “No. We’ve decided that a nice, quiet life is what we prefer. I’ll let the experts handle that.”

“If you changed your mind what would you call your story?”

Gabby frowned as she thought about it. She looked over to Dean who waited for her answer.

She thought back to her childhood, and the times she spent with her sister. The times they played in the backyard or fought for certain toys. A simpler time when they were a happy family and all three siblings were together. It was very precious. Gabby realized as she entered her thirties she never had many years with Margo. Margo Ryan was fifteen years old when she committed suicide. So young, and fifteen years was just a candle in the wind.

Then a thought occurred to her and a memory she held so dear for so long came to the forefront of her mind.

An innocent child’s face lighting up when a ballerina played a lullaby in a simple music box.

That was the sister Gabby held onto. It would always be a contradiction for Gabrielle.

Gabby accepted that her inner battle would rage within her soul the rest of her life. Holding on to the sister she loved so much, and rejecting the sister she’d become. The murderer. The one who took the lives of five students, and injured ten more.

Gabby smiled at Dean and turned back to the interviewer.

The thundering sky grumbled above them as Gabby came up with her answer.

“I would call it Margo’s Lullaby.”

  The End

  About The Author

On a dark and stormy night...

  Nah

  And, he woke up...

  That won't work either.

Trying to be clever here folks, but it's not working out.

I'm a natural blonde. Well, that's what the bottle tells me. Who knew, right?

I was born in a small town (truth) in southern New Jersey. Where there's only 1 traffic light, an ice cream shop, and a post office run by an old lady who still thinks I'm twelve when I visit home.

While in high school, I found a love of historical romance novels. Sneaking them around my teachers and parents. I got caught once, and had the book taken away from me for the rest of the day. I was sent home with a note, and my mom shocked me when she said she was happy I was reading and didn't care what it was.

I've been writing since I can remember. My first ever story was a fan fiction of the 1989 Batman movie from Tim Burton. I gave up writing for many years until I discovered this little website named fanfiction.net while in school.

After discovering fan fiction, I decided, hey, if they can do it, so can I.

Well, my love of writing was re-born. I call my fan fiction years the "training wheel" years.

I have the greatest husband and bestie in the world. He has a love of books like me, but he would never touch romance. Except! He reads all of my writing giving me critical feedback. How awesome is that?

I hope you join me on this journey through my personal twilight zone. You never know where you may go.
