The Butterfly Whisperer

“Yeah, but don’t worry about it.”
“Hey, beautiful.” Doug gave Sophie a kiss on the cheek.
“We’re so glad you’re here,” Sophie said.
“So, is…uh…everything final?” Jordan whispered to Doug.
“All signed, sealed, and delivered.”
“So that means it’s a done deal?”
Sophie squinted. “What are you two up to?”
“It’s final.” Doug smiled with a gleam in his eyes.
Jordan turned to Sophie with a huge smile. “How would you like to have me in Monarch full-time?”
“What do you mean?” Sophie asked.
“I sold my half of SOS to Doug. I’m going to continue helping him, but on a contract basis from here. That is…if you don’t mind having me around so much.”
“Oh my God, seriously? Are you sure this is what you want? It’s your company.”
“I’m more than sure. Being with you is what’s most important. I want us to be together all the time.”
Sophie threw her arms around Jordan’s neck. “This is by far the best news I’ve ever heard.”
“You two are so freaking cute,” Doug said. “But I’m still counting on you for help.” He wagged a finger at Jordan.
“I’ll do whatever you need…from here.”
As the day wound down and people started to leave, Jordan looked at her watch. “I better get Chuck back. It’s almost four.”
“All right. We’ll finish cleaning up here, and I’ll meet you back home.” Sophie kissed Jordan’s cheek. “What? Why are you grinning?”
“It’s nothing.” Jordan looked down, embarrassed.
“What is it?” Sophie lifted Jordan’s chin.
“When you said home, I felt it. Right here.” Jordan pressed a palm over her heart. “Sophie Opal Sanders, you’re my home,” Jordan whispered and planted a kiss on her soul mate’s lips.
About the Author
Lisa Moreau has been writing stories ever since she could hold a crayon and Big Chief tablet. She’s an ultimate romantic and loves creating genuine characters who seem so real that she finds it sad they don’t actually exist. When Lisa isn’t writing on her laptop, in her mind, or with a crayon (old habits die hard), her absolute favorite pastime is perusing bookstores―so much so that they should really start charging her rent.
Lisa has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Midwestern State University, TX, and has completed an indefinitely large number of creative writing courses at Santa Monica College, CA. She lives in Los Angeles, CA, for the ocean, mountains, and totally awesome weather and only occasionally thinks about moving when she feels an earthquake tremble.
