She sat at the edge of the couch. “I tried to work. You asked me to stay at home, remember?”

His nostrils flared. “I know that. The job you was about to get wouldn’t put a dent in the bills in here. I didn’t see a point. I just need you to understand that I have to do what I gotta do. I might not always come home when you want me to. That’s the way shit is. I ain’t fucking around. It’s about money, man.”

“But you can’t be considerate of my feelings?” she asked incredulously.

  “Did I say that?”

  “Your actions told me that.”

“Alright,” he nodded. “My bad. What else do you want from me?”

She shook her head. “Nothing, you insensitive bastard. Do whatever makes you happy,” She stood and stormed upstairs.

Mark stood staring off into space as he heard her slam the bedroom door shut. He knew that he could have called. His boys had been jabbing at him about being pussy whipped. They claimed that Necole had been keeping him on a short leash and for a minute, he allowed that to fuck with him. His friends all had women and kids at home, but they still lived the life of single men, declaring that they were too young to be tied down. At twenty-one, he was often confused. He loved Necole and the kids with everything he had, but it made him feel older. He now had real responsibilities other than himself. Sometimes he just didn’t want to care. He knew that he was being selfish and decided to fix it.

He walked upstairs and into his bedroom. He found Necole sitting on her phone crying.

“Who are you talking to?” he questioned.

She sniffed as she ignored him. “He just got here and it’s one o’clock,” she whined with fresh tears in her throat.

“Who you telling my business to? Huh?” he asked as he sat next to her.

“Yeah,” she said into her phone. “I don’t know,” she sniffled.

Mark palmed her face and wiped away her tears with his thumb. “Hang up the phone and let me talk to you.”

“Leave me alone!” she snapped as she pulled away from him.

“What is he doing to you?” Cali questioned on the other end of the phone.

  “Fucking with me,” Necole gritted.

“Who’s fucking with you?” Mark asked, faking confusion. “Tell me so that I can fuck them up. Baby, tell me,” he smiled as he wrapped his arms around her.

“Move,” she whined as she attempted to shove him. He wouldn’t budge.

“Give me a kiss,” he teased as he puckered his lips and grabbed her face.

She struggled against him as he kissed her lips. He forced his tongue into her mouth against her will. She shook her head, but it was no use. He had her exactly where he wanted her.

He took the kiss deeper and she dropped her phone. He pushed her back and laid on top of her before thinking about his baby. He then shifted his body to the side of her without breaking their kiss. With his free hand he lifted his t-shirt over her bare breasts. He gently caressed a swollen nipple.

It didn’t take long before he was inside of her while she lied on her side. Her leg rested in the crook of his arm as he slid in and out of her. He kissed and sucked her neck leaving passion marks.

She gripped the sheets as she bit her bottom lip not wanting him to know how good he felt. Her efforts were lost on Mark, because he knew that she loved his stroke as he felt her tighten her muscles around his length.

“Umm,” he moaned into her ear. “Stop acting like you don’t want this dick,” he rotated his hips. “Tell me that didn’t feel good to you.”

She said nothing as they made the bed rock.

“You ain’t gon talk?” he asked as he made sure to dig in a little deeper. “Huh? Answer me.”

She continued biting her lips, trying to keep quiet.

He picked up the pace as his balls slapped against the face of her pussy. “You ain’t gon say nothing? Huh?” he smacked her ass. “I can’t hear you.”

Her eyes rolled into the back of her head as she tried to restrain herself. “Ughhhhhh…” Finally escaped her lips as she began cumming.

“Yeah, that’s right,” he breathed as he grabbed her face and pulled it toward him. He forced his tongue into her mouth as he continued to long stroke her, heightening her orgasm.

“Uh…” she moaned while his tongue rested in her mouth while he hit her spot.

He bucked harder and harder before finally exploding inside of her. “Shit!” he sighed as she pulled away from him.

Necole rolled over before scooting down. She grabbed his still hard dick and hungrily took him into her mouth. It felt as though she’d locked her jaws around him. He gazed down at her as she did her thing. He slowly sat up as she continued to give him brain. She was in doggy-style position as he reached down and played with her pussy from behind. She picked up the pace as he rubbed her clit. She rolled her hips enjoying the feeling his finger gave.

“Fuck,” he let out as his head fell back. He pulled his dick out of her mouth. “Hop on it,” he instructed.

She straddled him and slid down his piece. She bounced up and down his length hearing him slide through her wetness. He leaned against the leather headboard as he pulled his t-shirt completely off her body.

They were chest to breasts as she rode him while he sat up. They feverishly kissed as his hands rested on her waist. Their bodies were drenched in sweat as her ass slapped against his thighs.

“Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh,” she quipped every time he slammed his hips into hers. “I’m cumming, I’m cumming!” she let out as she had an earth-shattering orgasm.

“I can’t be doing this with you,” she sighed as they lay in the bed completely naked after finishing three rounds of hot steamy sex.

“Do what?” he asked as he stared at the ceiling while his hands rested behind his head.

“This fucking and fighting shit,” she turned to look at him.

“Fucking and fighting, huh?” he turned to her. “I don’t think that we really fought.”

  “Then what was it?”

“We had a disagreement. We settled it.”

She shook her head. “The only thing we settled was our sexual appetite.”

He smiled. “It was good, wasn’t it?”

She playfully shoved him. “That’s beside the point. I still don’t know why you didn’t bother to call.”

Mark took a deep breath while he contemplated if he should be honest. He knew how emotional she’d been since becoming pregnant and he didn’t want to have another blow up. “Alright, it’s like this,” he gazed into her eyes. “I was riding around the other night with my niggas. We all had handled our business so we were just fucking around. They were like, ‘Man, let’s fall off in the strip club.’ They had been complaining about me not kicking it like I used to, so I went to the strip club with them. You know the bitches were everywhere trying to come up on a dollar, right. I ain’t gonna lie, I got a few lap dances,” he watched the expression on her face. It was blank so he continued. “After a while, I realized that it was getting late, but I asked myself when was the last time I stayed out late. I felt like a lame, having to think about shit first. That wasn’t me at first and I realized that my life was different now. At that moment, I didn’t want it to be different, so I said fuck it.”

  Necole blinked her eyes rapidly.

“What?” he asked with a raised brow. “You mad?”

“Yeah, I am,” she sat up. “What pisses me off is that I never forced your hand. From the beginning, I held back because I understood that I came with a lot of baggage. And now you’re making me feel like this loser that you had to save,” she fumed. “I don’t need you to save me. If this isn’t what you want, then let’s end this. I’m not trying to smother or trap you. This is my life,” she patted her chest. “Those are my kids. I fucked up and had kids early. That’s me, but it doesn’t have to be you. I don’t even want someone that feels forced into something. We can go our separate ways right now.”

He sat up as he shook his head. “No
w, see…that’s why I didn’t want to tell you nothing. This ain’t got nothing to do with the kids. I don’t give a fuck what you say; Junior and Carma are my fucking kids, man. Don’t ever do me like that. What I felt had more to do with just being in a committed relationship. It would be the same thing if you were childless. I was trippin’ and had a moment. I just decided to keep it real because my uncle taught me that keeping shit built up will only explode in your face later.”

She sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes.

He stared at her. “I told you your eyes gonna get stuck one day. Now…like I was saying…I was trippin’ with myself thinking that a nigga was missing something. So I hung out around half-naked bitches; but it was funny…” he smirked as he stroked his goatee, “I found myself checking out all those bitches and comparing them to you. Nobody came close,” he shook his head. “So that’s when I realized something. Me and my niggas weren’t the same. They were drooling over bitches they wish they could have, while I have what they want. I ain’t gotta run the streets searching for something I already got. That’s when I shook the spot. But by then, the sun was up and I knew that you would be pissed. I was still rolling on that X so I was just kicking it with my niggas.”

“You popped a tab?” she asked, getting even more upset. She knew that when he got on ecstasy he liked to fuck until the sun came up. “Now I know that you were out there fucking something.”

He sucked his teeth. “Why the fuck you think we just went so long? I had been waiting to bust a nut.”

  “Whatever,” she sighed.

He pulled her into his arms. “That’s real talk, man. Again…my bad for not calling. That was inconsiderate of me. Just don’t try to pull the same shit.”

She shook her head and laughed. “You’re something else. Why can’t I?”

“‘Cause you pregnant and shit. You’d have me riding around with my shotgun looking for your ass and I know you don’t want that.”

  She giggled. “You’re crazy.”

“But you still love me, right?” he questioned as he kissed her neck.

  She shrugged.

“Aw, that’s fucked up. I love you though,” he kissed her cheek. “With all my heart.”

She exhaled. “You know I love you, boy.”

  Chapter 22

“That nigga usually gets there about three o’clock,” Loon said as he, Carmelo, Jesse and Kareem sat outside of Mark’s house in an all-black tinted Lincoln Town car.

“Is he usually by himself?” Carmelo questioned. He hadn’t shared the fact that Necole was his baby mama and now lived with their lick. He’d kept that secret for multiple reasons. For one, he didn’t need them knowing his weakness was in a form of a five-foot-five female. Secondly, he just didn’t trust Loon enough to reveal such vital information. As long as they caught Mark alone, everything would be all good.

Loon nodded. “Yeah. He leaves that fine ass bitch of his at home. Nigga…what I wouldn’t give to fuck the shit out of that broad. She got the nicest ass I ever seen.”

Carmelo clenched his jaws. “Oh, yeah?”

  “Hell yeah.”

Kareem tapped Loon’s arm. “Aye, here he come.”

They all watched as Mark’s Range Rover backed out of his garage. The windows were tinted so dark that they couldn’t see who was inside.

The driver Jesse waited until the truck was down the street before he pulled away from the curb to follow it. He made sure to keep their distance, figuring that he knew where Mark was headed anyway.

“The nigga does a pickup before stopping off at some condo. That gotta be his stash spot,” Loon explained as everybody else rode in silence.

Carmelo was anxious. He had never wanted anything more than he wanted to take Mark’s life. The money be damned. Their last lick had set them all nicely. This one was personal for him. He knew that greed was Loon’s motivation; still, he claimed that they would all chill for a while after this one.

“I just told you that I don’t want to go over there,” Necole snapped as Mark drove along the streets.

Mark sucked his teeth. “Look, it ain’t gon take long. I’m just stopping by to get my fetti. Chill out.”

She folded her arms underneath her breasts and pouted. “Whatever. I don’t know why you can’t do that once I leave my doctor’s appointment. I don’t feel like riding while you make all these damn stops.”

Mark cut his eyes at her. “Why are you so damn grouchy? You know that I do my pickups every Wednesday, so what’s the problem?”

She sighed. “I’m just not feeling it today,” she stared straight ahead.

“Whatever,” he shook his head. “You and these damn mood swings are going to drive a nigga insane.”

“You’re going to drive yourself insane, if anything,” she piped as he pulled up to his trap house. It was a fairly decent house that sat in the heart of a neighborhood called Trinity Garden. A few of his boys were sitting on the porch blowing some haze.

Necole rolled her eyes. “Don’t go over there trying to smoke with them and then get back in here smelling like that stinky shit.”

He sucked his teeth for the tenth time. “Shut up, girl,” he said as he climbed out of the Rover.

“What’s the business?” Coop asked from the porch as Mark approached them.

“Shit. What ya’ll niggas smoking on?” he asked as he stepped onto the porch.

“This purp,” Nookie said as he took a drag from the blunt. “You want to hit it?” he asked, extending the blunt to Mark. He waved him off.

“Naw, man. The smell been making Necole sick and shit. I ain’t trying to hear her mouth.”

“Necole? She in the car with you?” Coop questioned as he looked over at the Rover.

“Yeah,” Mark looked back as well.

“Aye, you can’t speak?” Coop shouted out to Necole.

She rolled down her window. “Hey, ya’ll,” she smiled.

  “What’s up?” everybody spoke simultaneously.

“Trying to get to this doctor. Can ya’ll tell ya boy to hurry up?”

Coop looked up at Mark. “Hurry up, nigga,” he teased with a grin.

“Whatever,” Mark said as he went into the house.

“Aye, I think he got his bitch with him,” Kareem uttered as they all watched Necole talk to Mark’s boys.

Carmelo’s heart pounded in his chest. Of all the fucking times, why did she have to be with him this time? If he knew Loon, the plans weren’t going to change just because of her presence. He then started to think, what if his kids were in the car as well? Shit! He had to try something. “So, ya’ll still wanna hit this nigga today?”

“Hell yeah,” Loon spat. “Shit…if that bitch don’t wanna follow instructions, then she can get it too.”

Carmelo’s blood boiled. Yeah, he was pissed at Necole, but he could barely tolerate the next man threatening to do her harm. “I don’t know, man. I got a bad feeling about this one. I think that we should do this another time.”

Loon’s head spun around as he eyed Melo. “So you bitching up?”

“What?” Melo looked at him in disbelief. “Nigga, ain’t no bitch in my blood. I’m just saying we ain’t factored in other people being involved.”

“Man, I don’t give a fuck about that bitch or anybody else. I ain’t letting nah muthafucka stand between me and my money.”

“I feel you, my nig,” Jesse nodded as he passed Loon the sherm stick.

Loon puffed on the embalming fluid dipped cigarette before trying to hand it to Carmelo.

“Naw, I’m good,” Carmelo waved him off.

“I can’t believe that you ain’t getting fucked up, Black,” Kareem said as he took the cigarette from Loon.

Carmelo shrugged. “I just ain’t feeling that shit today.”

Kareem hit the sherm. “Shit,” he blew smoke out of his nose, “this right here gets my mind right. Hell, I gotta ask God to forgive me for what I’m about to do to his children, but a nigga gotta eat.”
r />   “Aye, he got it,” Jesse said as he watched Mark walk out of the house with a Frosted Flakes cereal box sitting in a plastic bag.

“A’ight. You know what to do, nigga,” Loon said as he loaded his gun.

They all watched as Mark hopped back into his ride. Once he was at least two blocks down, they pulled off following the car.

“I know that you aren’t dropping off this money first?” Necole asked.

“Yeah, you know that I ain’t riding around with this much bread, so I don’t know why you’d ask me that,” Mark said as he fiddled with the radio. “Aw, this my shit right here,” he bobbed his head to Houston’s local rapper, Jay Dawg’s, “First 48.” Nigga, what you scared for? I hear your heart beat. Pussy talking all that shit, you ain’t talking no more. ‘Cause them muthafuckin’ killers outside your front door. And they sound like (Boom-Boom). You better pray, nigga. This the first 48, niggas. Somebody call the law. The homicide division. This young nigga gone, hope he had the lord with him…

Necole shook her head as she thought about Carmelo for a second. For multiple reasons, the song reminded her of him and the life he led.

Mark used his clicker to open the access gate to the condos. He’d been using the spot to stash his work and cash for two years. He drove around to the condo, oblivious to the fact that he was being tailed. With one click, the garage door of the condo lifted. He pulled into the garage, but before he could close the garage’s door, a Lincoln pulled its nose into the garage preventing the door from closing.

“What the fuck?” Mark murmured as he glanced behind him. “Shit!” he frantically reached underneath his seat searching for his gun.

Necole panicked. “What’s going on?” she asked as she looked behind them.

Three masked men jumped out of the car that was blocking them in. “Get the fuck out the car, nigga!” one of the robbers shouted as he stood at Necole’s window with his gun aimed at her head.

“Alright, alright,” Mark placed his hands in the air. “Just get that gun out of my girl’s face.”

“Unlock the door,” the dude on Mark’s side of the car said as he pulled on the door.
