In a sagging, deserted cabin, high in the mountains of the Wind River Range, a family of mice scampered happily amid the straw that still covered the cabin floor. One industrious rodent finally wiggled his way behind an iron door that covered a little oven built into the side of the fireplace, where he began eagerly nibbling away at some very old bread crumbs.
