“I know the bartender, he snuck them to me. No shot glasses though, we’ll have to use party glasses.” He poured everyone about a shot, with some good natured ribbing around the table for him to make sure they were all even.

“Just one or two rounds for me,” said Brin.

“One, two, three!” counted Patricia, and they all did the shots.

The next round was poured, and the next. By the third round, Kris was getting a buzz, she’d already had a few wines. Brin covered her glass when the next round was poured. “I’m out.”

“Come on, Brin, one more!” said Patricia.

“No, really. But don’t stop on my account.”

Patricia had taken over the pouring. She held the bottle poised over Kris’s glass. “Kris? Are you giving up too?” Their eyes locked.

Kris knew she couldn’t handle too much more, but this direct challenge was something that was hard to resist. Against her judgment, she said, “Bring it on.”

Patricia smiled slyly and poured the drink. Kris thought Patricia had over poured, but bit her lip. I won’t give her the satisfaction.

They all did the shots. One of the other women at the table dropped out. Now there were six left, the two guys, whose names Kris had forgotten, Andrew, Patricia, and John.

John looked steely eyed. Maybe he can hold it, thought Kris. But I won’t last much longer. I’ll lose this one to Patricia, but this loss won’t bother me, because she’ll be too drunk to focus on Andrew.

It occurred to Kris that Andrew might be too drunk to hook up with anyone, including her, but that would be a small price to pay, as long as Patricia didn’t get him.

Patricia led another round of shots. One of the unnamed guys suddenly turned green and rushed from the room. Everyone laughed. “One more down!” said Patricia.

Again Patricia held the bottle poised at Kris’s glass. Kris appeared to think about it, then nodded. Everyone else was still in.

The glasses were raised, and Kris took only a sip, waiting until everyone else had swallowed, and then said, “I can’t do it, I’m out.”

“Aww, too bad, I guess you lose,” said Patricia, blatantly eyeing Andrew, making it clear that she had won.

“I’m out, too,” said the other guy. “If I knew we’d be doing this, I wouldn’t have had so many before.”

Patricia turned to Andrew. “Andrew? Do you want to keep going?”

When Andrew hesitated, Kris asked, “How about you, John?”

“I’m still in,” said John, matter of factly. “Just getting warmed up.”

Patricia turned to him, a little surprised. “Well, we’ll see about that.”

“You don’t have to drive, do you, Patricia?” asked Andrew.

“I can drive us home,” said Brin.

“Okay, then, hit me,” said Andrew.

Patricia, John, and Andrew did another shot. Kris could tell that the alcohol was getting to Patricia, but she also knew Patricia would never admit it.

“Let’s keep going,” said Patricia. She picked up the bottle, but it was empty. “We need more tequila!”

“Might be out of luck,” said the unnamed guy. “Jack is the one who knew the bartender, and he’s probably still puking his guts out.”

“I guess it will have to be a tie,” said Kris.

Patricia glared at Kris. “For now.”

The party finally ended. Kris had managed to goad Patricia and John into another few hard drinks. They were both just shy of sloshed, but neither willing to admit it. Kris had her own buzz, but had drank enough water to drown in, trying to dilute the booze.

As they were getting their coats and saying goodbyes, Kris managed to get John out of earshot of the others. “I think Patricia really likes you,” she whispered. “I think she’d be open to, you know. Just in case you were wondering.”

Kris hoped that John would take Patricia to whatever hotel he was staying at. But to Kris’s chagrin, John said, “She’s kind of fun at an event like this, but she’s too wild for me. I have a reputation to protect.” And with that he strode out the door without even saying goodbye.

Kris could only hope that Patricia was too drunk to put the moves on Andrew. Brin went to get the car, and when it pulled up out front, Kris tried to maneuver into the back, which would force Andrew to either sit up front, or in the back with her. But she had underestimated Patricia’s acuity and competitiveness, even when partially inebriated. Patricia jumped into the backseat, pulling Andrew with her. Kris had no choice but to sit in the passenger seat up front.

  “Home, James!” yelled Patricia, laughing.

Kris fumed, stymied. She had to resist the urge to turn around and see if she could do anything to keep Patricia away from Andrew. But what could she do? Brin, although she only had a few drinks much earlier, drove slowly and carefully, so it seemed to take forever to get across the city.

At one point it got pretty quiet in the car and Kris noticed Brin glance in the rearview mirror and frown. Kris stole a look in the back and saw that Patricia was practically on Andrew’s lap. Andrew had a big grin on his face, reveling in the attention.

“This is every guy’s fantasy!” said Andrew, clearly happy. “Going home with three beautiful women!”

“Don’t get any ideas!” joked Brin.

“Oh, it’s just a harmless fantasy,” said Patricia, but with a slurred sultry tone, suggesting that Andrew shouldn’t think of it as a fantasy at all, at least as far as she was concerned.

Kris thought fast. If she didn’t act, Patricia would have Andrew in bed soon. “Patricia, do you have any tequila at home? We could continue the shot contest.”

“I do, but you dropped out, remember? And you were two drinks down.”

“Okay, I’ll do my two first to catch up. Fair?” Kris said, hoping all the water she drank would help keep her sober, or at least keep her from passing out before Patricia.

  “You’re on!” said Patricia.

Brin shook her head. “I can’t believe you two.”

“Three!” said Andrew, really loosened up now. “I’m in!”

At the apartment, Patricia went to the cupboard and returned with a bottle of tequila and shot glasses.

“I’m going to bed,” announced Brin.

Andrew suddenly looked a little crestfallen. “Hey, Brin, come on, stay with us.”

“No, you all go ahead. It’s not my kind of game.”

“We don’t have to,” said Andrew. “It’s not my kind of game either, I just got caught up in it. We can do something else, or just hang out.”

Brin smiled, clearly touched by Andrew’s concern. “Thank you. I don’t mind, really. I didn’t mean to sound judgmental. I’m a little tired, anyway.” She went over to Andrew and they both looked as though they wanted to hug, but shook hands instead. “It was nice meeting you, Andrew,” said Brin. “I guess I’ll see you in the morning. Good night everyone.”

After Brin had gone to her room, Patricia poured two shots. “Okay, Kris, let’s see if you have what it takes to compete.”

The hidden meaning wasn’t lost on Kris. She eyed the drinks, wondering if she had gone too far. But she remembered her promise to herself, her vow not to be outdone by Patricia. She picked up the first drink and chugged it, and before she had time to reconsider, downed the second as well. The liquor went down easy, and Kris waited for the buzz hit. Fortunately, she was still mostly sober. All the water had helped. Which reminded her, she had to pee.

“I have to go to the bathroom,” she said, getting up.

  “No barf cheating!” admonished Patricia.

  “You want to come watch?”

“No, I’ll just wait here with Andrew,” said Patricia, the threat clear in her voice.

Kris rushed through her bathroom needs, using the time to also drink as much water as she could. She wasn’t fast enough; when she came back Patricia had moved much closer to Andrew on the couch.

“Ready,” said Kris, sitting down on the other side of Andrew. />
But when Patricia went to pour the next round, there wasn’t enough for all three of them. “I guess it’s another draw,” said Andrew, sounding relieved.

“We could switch to something else,” said Patricia. “I have scotch.”

“No fair,” said Kris. “You know I hate scotch. You’d have an unfair advantage.”

Patricia wasn’t ready to give up, her competitive nature taking over. “We’ll just have to find some other thing where there’s no advantage,” she said. She thought for a while, then her mouth broke into a wide grin. “I know. We could have a kissing contest!”

Kris glared at Patricia. Was she drunk, or did she have something sinister planned? They’d had kissing contests a few times in college, and Patricia always won. And sometimes got more than a few kisses as a reward.

“We’re a little old for that, don’t you think?” said Kris.

“Speak for yourself. Unless you don’t think you can compete?”

“I’m sure Andrew doesn’t want to play.” As soon as Kris said it she knew it was stupid, Andrew was grinning wildly, not believing his luck. Kris pressed on. “Besides, there are just two of us. Not really a contest unless there are more players.”

“We could wake up Brin,” said Andrew hopefully.

“I don’t think she’d like this game,” said Patricia, still staring at Kris. “I think this should be just between me and Kris.”

Kris knew Patricia was right, it was the last thing Brin would want to be part of. She held Patricia’s stare. “Let’s do it.”

“How do we play?” asked Andrew, suddenly somewhat hesitant. “I’ve never done this before.”

“It’s easy,” said Patricia. “Kris and I take turns kissing you. You decide who is the winner.”

Andrew looked from one woman to the other, sensing the tension. “What happens if I think you are both even, then it’s a tie?”

“That won’t happen, believe me,” said Patricia.

Kris ignored her. “If that’s what you decide after we both kiss you, we do it again, like another round. Until you can choose.”

  “Okay, I guess,” said Andrew.

“Kris, you can start,” said Patricia, with a sly smile.

Kris knew it was better to go last, to get to see how the other kiss went. But she wasn’t going to let Patricia win. She was tired, she knew they all were, it was late and they were a little drunk. She tried to get her wits about her, a tired kiss was a losing kiss.

She took a deep breath, and put her arm around Andrew’s back. He leaned in for the kiss, a little tentatively, so Kris pulled his head forward, not too hard, just to make it clear it was okay, that she wanted it. It helped that she thought Andrew was cute. He actually wasn’t really Patricia’s type, so that might give her an edge.

Kris met Andrew’s lips, starting soft, letting her own lips slip over his, and as Andrew relaxed and got into it Kris let her tongue slip out just for an instant, a hint, a promise only. She could feel Andrew’s mouth press on her, opening, following her tongue, wanting to touch it, to taste it. Kris tightened her grip on Andrew’s back, but at the same time moving her head away ever so slightly, as if to give the impression that she was being taken. It wasn’t hard, Andrew was a pretty good kisser, Kris felt her mouth open more, on its own accord, and now their tongues were touching, dancing. In an real contest Kris would have held this back for a later round, but tonight, with just two of them competing, every kiss was do or die.

Kris let herself go, forgetting the surroundings, forgetting Patricia, thinking only of Andrew, this was the way, and she felt Andrew respond to her release, that combination of relaxation and excitement. Kris lost track of time, it was a great kiss, and just when she felt it was at a peak she slowly broke off, knowing that would leave Andrew wanting more.

Andrew stared into her eyes and whispered, “Wow.”

Kris smiled. “That was just the beginning,” she said.

“Okay, okay,” said Patricia, impatiently. “No flirting. Just kissing.” She pulled Andrew around to face her. “Get ready, big boy.”

Before Andrew could respond, Patricia was on him. Her approach was just the opposite of Kris’s. Patricia practically mauled Andrew with her mouth, her tongue darting out, her arms around him in a tight embrace. Kris was almost disgusted watching, but had to admit Patricia was good at her game. She was kissing Andrew as she would be if they were having passionate sex, a deep, full kiss, a kiss of ecstasy. Patricia moaned, and Kris thought if Patricia was faking it she was very convincing, maybe she was even turned on. Unfortunately Andrew was responding, after a brief initial hesitation at Patricia’s onslaught he was fully into it. Patricia’s tongue was all over Andrew’s lips, darting in his mouth. Suddenly Patricia jerked away, leaving Andrew was gasping.

Andrew couldn’t even speak, he just lay his head back on the sofa, staring at the ceiling. “I’m in heaven,” he finally said.

  “Who won?” demanded Patricia.

Andrew looked at Patricia, and Kris held her breath. After a long moment Andrew turned his eyes to her. “You are both amazing,” he said. “But you are so different, it’s hard to compare. I think I need another round.” He smiled, clearly happy with himself.

Kris readied herself. It would be hard to top Patricia, she couldn’t compete on her terms. She’d have to try something else.

She waited as long as she could, holding Andrew’s eye, trying to get his mind off of Patricia. Then Kris leaned in to Andrew, but instead of kissing him, kept her lips just short of his, a whisper away. Andrew involuntarily leaned forward, but each time he did, Kris pulled back, letting their lips just graze, trying to build Andrew’s desire. She knew that men loved a conquest even more than scoring some loose slut, she had learned this lesson the hard way, when she had a few times thrown herself at guys, and after they had fucked her they didn’t give her the time of day. It was the men she had kept waiting who had lusted after her, who had stayed around.

She continued to tease Andrew with the edges of her lips, only grazing his when she sensed he was getting really frustrated, and she found she was enjoying this, forgetting the contest, this felt good. Andrew was pursuing her, now it was he who grabbed the back of her head, pulling her forward, into him. For an instant, Kris resisted, knowing this would turn him on, and then she fell into him, surrendering to the kiss and to him, almost melting, her mouth opening, accepting Andrew’s tongue as it pushed into her mouth.

Kris could feel herself become aroused, she loved kissing, and if Patricia hadn’t been there who knew what might happen, she might be grabbing for Andrew’s cock. Instead she let herself fall toward Andrew, like he was pulling her, and she guided Andrew’s hand onto her hip, and then, as if it was he who was doing it, Kris slipped her leg over Andrew and in one smooth motion was sitting on his lap, never breaking the kiss, and now it was Kris who moaned, and she wasn’t faking anything.

Kris felt Andrew stiffen beneath her, his cock growing hard, and she subtly ground into him, only wishing that her skirt had been hiked up, now not only wanting to win the contest, but to make Andrew feel good, to make herself feel good. She shifted her hips and squeezed her legs around his thighs, hoping Andrew could sense her excitement.

Kris loved turning a man on, it was such a rush. I could almost come doing this, she thought.

Once again, when Kris felt Andrew was near a peak, when if they had been alone he would have grabbed her breast, or lifted her skirt, when he would have wanted, needed, to go to the next level—that’s when Kris pulled back, slowly, reluctantly. But she didn’t get off Andrew’s lap, and gave her thighs one last squeeze, as if to say I want you in me.

Kris finally slid off Andrew’s lap, slowly, as if they had been glued together, and she was very pleased to see that his eyes followed her, he seemed to have forgotten Patricia.

Kris glanced at Patricia and saw that she was livid, her face red, her eyes on fire.

  “Playing a little dirty, aren’t we?” she spat.r />
  “Who me?” asked Kris, innocently.

“Two can play that game,” said Patricia, and she grabbed Andrew to turn him around.

“Give him a minute,” said Kris. “No taking advantage of my glow.”

Patricia glared at Kris. “I told you, I don’t take seconds. I don’t need your help.”

Andrew looked from Patricia to Kris, wondering what was going on, the mood from his kiss with Kris instantly broken.

Patricia smiled. “Whenever you are ready, Andrew.”

Andrew took one last look at Kris, and with an apologetic shrug, leaned over toward Patricia.

Once again Patricia was all over him, assaulting him with her mouth, moaning. If Kris hadn’t been watching them she would have sworn she was hearing a porn video soundtrack, Patricia sounded like she was going to have an orgasm. And yet nothing about it sounded fake, Patricia sounded like she really was excited, maybe from Andrew, maybe because she wanted to beat Kris, maybe because she was a little drunk. Kris could see Andrew hesitate, he probably had never been attacked like this before, especially by a woman as beautiful as Patricia. But his body responded, and he was leaning into her, his tongue thrashing against hers.

Patricia fell back on the couch, pulling Andrew on top of her, letting him smash against her full breasts, Patricia’s legs opening to embrace him, using her thighs to pull him forward, her body screaming for Andrew to mount her. Kris watched with dismay, how could she ever have hoped to compete against this? Patricia was invoking her inner slut, unleashing all her sexuality. Kris’s only chance would be that Andrew would be turned off.

Instead, Andrew ground his hips into Patricia, and even before Patricia guided Andrew’s hand to her breast, Kris’s hope faded. That should be against the rules. I can’t compete against her tits.

Andrew was grasping at Patricia’s breasts, and to seal the deal, Patricia spread her legs wide and yanked up her skirt, and now Andrew’s very visible hard on was pushing against Patricia’s thin panties. Patricia moaned and wrapped her legs around him, pulling him down onto her, grinding her pussy against Andrew’s cock.

Kris turned away, knowing she had lost.
