Carol shivered at the sound of passion in their voices. “Yes, please. Make me scream.” She reached up and back and wound her hands around Warren’s neck. “I want your cock in my ass and Edward’s in my cunt and I will scream both your names as I come. Fuck me, oh, baby, fuck me now.”

Warren’s smile, deep and devilish, curled heat in her belly.

“You’re awfully good at dirty talk, woman. You’ve made my cock so hard I bet I could drill post holes with it. I think I like this side of you.”

“You like this side of me except when you tell me no.”

His smile widened. “For now, when necessary, I tell you no. But I can foresee the day when I’m going to have to turn you over my knee and paddle your ass.”

Carol could have sworn her eyes glassed over and her blood heated about ten degrees at his words.

“Oh, listen to her purr now,” Edward said.

They turned off the water and then bundled her in fluffy towels. She loved the way they indulged her this way, taking care to wrap her hair gently to dry it, blotting the water from her body. She’d never imagined being treated as if she were precious.

Sometimes she wanted to weep from the beauty of the way they made her feel.

  “What is it, beautiful?”

Edward slid his arms around her and she laid her head on his shoulder. “I just love you both so much. Sometimes, it overwhelms me.”

Edward kissed her, a soft, gentle kind of kiss, and then met his brother’s eyes. Warren stepped closer so that she was exactly in the middle of them. He caressed her face, and lifted her chin. When her gaze met his, he, too, gave her a way-too-chaste kiss.

“I love you with all that I am, Carol Ashwood. The moment I laid eyes on you I knew I was looking at my future. Will you marry me?”

Carol gasped, the proposal so like the man, so unexpected and sweet and honest. Before she could answer, Edward turned her face toward him.

“You already own my heart, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Carol. You’re my everything. Will you marry me?”

Was there any doubt at all? “Yes, please. Yes, please. Oh, God, I want to marry you both so much!” Emotion became a torrent that gushed and rushed through her so that she didn’t know if she would ever be able to contain it all. “I want to belong to you completely, and I want you both to belong to me, too.”

“We already do, love.” Warren gently wiped her tears. “We’re both of us yours, heart and mind, body and soul.”

“We’re already a family, beautiful,” Edward said, “because our hearts are connected.”

“Then take me to bed. Let’s be as connected, physically, as we are emotionally and spiritually.”

They led her to the bed but when she would have grabbed them, they smiled, shook their heads “no” and kissed her hands. Instead of jumping her, which she could have sworn she wanted, they seduced her.

Edward brought a bath sheet from the linen closet and spread it on the bed. Warren uncapped her lotion, and the scent of peaches filled the air.

They coaxed her to lie down on her stomach, and she thought of protesting. Warren, naked, straddled her legs while Edward knelt by her head. And then their hands, lubricated with lotion, stroked and caressed and kneaded her and she knew this was what she wanted.

“Oh God, that is even better than Sandra does it.”

Warren sounded like he was choking on his laughter. “I sincerely hope so, love.”

Carol sighed. “You know what I mean.”

“Well it’s good to know if this paramedic thing ever goes south, we can find a second career as masseurs,” Edward said.

“Only me.” She didn’t even have to think about that one. “You can only massage me.”

“Possessive little thing, aren’t you?” Warren said.

Of course, she couldn’t miss the fact they were laughing at her. “Damn straight. At least, I am where you’re concerned.”

“Good,” Warren said. “It’s nice to know we matter enough to you that your claws would come out to protect us from other women.”

  “Count on it.”

Warren moved so that he stretched out on top of her, his hard cock snug against the crack of her ass. “I love you so damn much, woman. I can’t tell you.”

  “Then show me.”

  Chapter 21

They moved, these wonderful, sometimes socially awkward men of hers, as if grace flowed through their veins instead of blood.

They touched and tantalized and tortured her with hot, seductive strokes that built her quietly burning arousal into a raging inferno. They used their lips to kiss her everywhere, melting her muscles and enthralling her spirit so that she felt as substantial as a limp noodle.

When they turned her onto her back, she reached for them and they came to her. She fed her need to please them by caressing and kissing, cupping and fisting and licking. Their moans and groans—hers and theirs—became the most arousing of symphonies.

“Your skin is as soft as silk, as tasty as sweet berries.” Edward whispered his words of praise as he suckled her breasts.

“I love this ass.” Warren moved down the bed behind her so that he could squeeze and kiss and bite.

Carol’s internal muscles began to clutch as if she already held a cock within her cunt. Her juices flowed and her nipples puckered and she felt balanced on a very fine edge. “You’re both making me so hot and horny. Please don’t make me wait much longer.”

“All right, sweets.” Warren reached into the drawer and pulled out condoms and lubricant. Carol quickly took the small packets from his hand. She took great pleasure in sheathing each of her lovers, using a firm grip to stroke their cocks and ensure the latex was well and truly in place.

She felt powerful when both of these men—her future husbands—hissed as their cocks grew under her erotic stroking.

“Come here.” Edward fastened his hands around her waist and lifted her. “The time for teasing, for all of us, is over.”

His growl shivered down her back and made her nipples pucker even tighter than they already had. “Thank God. I need your cocks…ah, yes, yes, oh, Edward, I love it when you slide your cock into my pussy.”

The sound that emerged from Edward beneath her was a cross between a growl and a moan of pleasure. He kept his hands on her and moved her in sync with his thrusting. Carol leaned forward and put her hands on his chest, leaning down to kiss him lightly. And then she looked over her shoulder, looking for the final part that would complete her.

Even before she could fully focus on Warren, he spread lube over her anus, caressing back and forth, and working first one and then a second finger into her.

“Mmm, you have no idea how that feels!” There was still a sting, and she knew there would be more than a sting in just a few moments, but, oh, God, that tiny bite always just seemed to feed her arousal, making it and her soar impossibly high.

“Easy now.” Warren moved in behind her, his body tenting hers as he eased his fingers out and placed the tip of his latex-covered cock on her tiny rosebud.

The heat of his cock felt so good she couldn’t help but push back, just a little.

“No. Hold still, please, love.” Warren bent close to her. “You push us at every turn, but I will not hurt you. We have to be careful, Carol.”

“Lay your head on my chest, beautiful one. Relax those hips and thighs, just let them go. Help us give you what you want. You have to help us so we can move easier inside you.”

Edward’s hands roamed up and down her back, his voice crooned non-words and his cock flexed within her.

Warren’s strong hands grasped her ass, spreading her cheeks. He held her firmly as he began to push his condom-covered cock into her.

“I want to move, I want to make you feel good, too, both of you.” Nothing mattered more to her than that, that she give back to them the wondrous rapture they gave her at every turn.

“Darling, if we felt any better we’d die,” Edward said. “You have n
o idea how you please us just by being.”

“So hot, and tight and good.” It sounded like Warren was gritting his teeth. “Lord, don’t move, baby. Let me…” He eased back then pressed in again. She could feel him trembling even as she felt his cock begin to breech her sphincter.

Edward continued to pet her, talking softly as Warren pushed, and pushed with a steady, relentless pressure.

The burn turned into a very real pain, and it made her shiver, made her want to squirm and push back. Nothing had ever been so difficult as simply lying there and letting these men control every motion. Each touch, each caress and soft sound and even each bit of pressure against her rosebud all fed her sexual appetite, making her crave more, and still more. The thought had crossed her mind that maybe she was a nymphomaniac—and she didn’t even care that it might be so!

Warren moaned and Carol gasped as her sphincter opened and his cock slid into her.

The heat from the pain of his invasion radiated out, warming her blood and speeding her heart. The way Warren’s cock slid all the way in, a slow delicious slide, had her breathing deeply and trying hard to relax, as Edward was still trying to coax her into doing.

Warren kissed and then licked the shell of her ear. “Be still, love. I’m just hanging on here…I…are you all right?”

“Mmm…I never knew…so full. I have you both inside me and it feels so good, and so right.” She shuddered, because her arousal began to grow even more and spiral upward all on its own and she couldn’t hold it down, or slow it down. “I think I’m going to come even if I don’t move…oh please, make me come!”

“We’ll take care of you, Carol. I promise. Just let me…” Warren didn’t say another word. Instead, he moved. He eased out of her and then pushed into her again, and it felt amazing. She couldn’t get over how full, how good…and then Edward began to move, too, and Carol’s thoughts shattered.

In and out, back and forth, the men fucked her, their actions both satisfying and questing. She cried out as the heat and excitement climbed and climbed. Unable to stay still any longer, she moved, her hips thrusting down and in and out and back, a tiny, almost tentative kind of thrusting. Yet that thrusting was enough, her movements working in sync with theirs were just enough. The action gave her shivers and quivers and so she did it again and again. As her rapture burst open over her, the sensations took over, flooding, spilling, filling, and pulling a scream of ecstasy from deep inside her heart.

“Yes, yes! Oh, Warren! Edward! Yes!”

Their cries of completion surrounded her as they thrust, and then held still, their cocks pulsing within her. In that moment the connection between them became real and solid, and Carol knew it was pure and precious and strong enough to last a lifetime.

  * * * *

  “You look tired, Joe.”

Joe looked up from the coffee his wife—his estranged wife he had to remind himself—had served him. The sound of her voice, familiar and missed, washed over him. For one moment he knew a strong urge to just let her pull him in and enfold him in her arms. He knew she would do just that at the first sign from him.

Even after all these years apart, and even after the way he’d turned from her when she had need of him most, she would still welcome him.

Joe felt shame wash through him. He’d not only been a bad father, he’d been a bad husband, too. He’d failed at everything a man was supposed to excel at.

He’d failed, quite simply, at being a man.

“I’m all right, Elizabeth. Don’t you worry about me.” He picked up a chocolate chip cookie and bit into it. He’d always loved Elizabeth’s cookies. He’d told her often they were the best cookies he’d ever eaten. They were all that and more.

He really didn’t have an appetite for them, now. He only ate to please her. He’d called the night before and asked if he could stop by. He didn’t need her to tell him that she’d gone into a baking frenzy in anticipation of his visit. He knew she had.

Elizabeth would do that. She had served him his coffee in a sturdy, man-sized mug, too. He’d had a glance in her cupboard earlier. All the rest of the cups were thin and fancy, the kind he’d never liked.

This mug she’d served him was the only one of its kind in her kitchen and purchased, he knew, on the off chance he’d be there to use it at some point.

She’s held on to hope that we can work things out between us. Joe was in awe of her. Women were more resilient than most men could appreciate. They could hold on, and have enough faith for ten men.

Hope and faith had deserted Joe long ago.

“Have you given any thought to going to counseling with me, Joe?”

“I have thought about it.” He had, and though he doubted he would have the chance to pursue the course she had in mind, he understood that it wouldn’t hurt, for now, to let her believe there was hope in him as well.

Already, a smile lit her face. It could never be a bad thing for a man to put a smile on the face of the only woman he’d ever loved, could it?

“I’m so glad to hear that, Joe.”

He took another sip of his coffee as his eyes scanned the apartment. Elizabeth had moved here, alone, after they’d lost the house. It was much smaller, and much less than she deserved.

He could see into the next room, and the portrait that stood on a small table—the same portrait of the three of them after the championship game—that he had in his own dingy place.

They never spoke of their son, but he knew she mourned Joey as deeply as he.

The photograph reminded him of all he’d lost. He told himself it wasn’t resentment he was feeling at the reminder. How could he blame her for clinging to that picture when he’d done the same?

“I’ve got some things to see to this week. Things I’ve put off for far too long.” He looked up and met her pretty green eyes. Joey had inherited her eyes and his dark hair. He swallowed down the tears that were always too close to the surface, these days. “So after this week, if you want to call and make an appointment, I’ll go with you.”

If I’m not dead, or in jail. And he promised himself, then and there, that he would be one or the other. Because the time had come for him to finally act.

But after all he’d failed to do for her, giving her this bit of hope to hang onto was the least, the very least he could do for her.

He couldn’t live with the guilt that his son’s murderer had been allowed to go free for so long. That other young man had even told him that Jessop had bragged that he’d let his boy die.

Of course Joe had taken all the information he’d gleaned to the authorities. The police had said they’d investigated, and that there was no truth to the things Mr. Taylor had told him.

But Joe knew how things worked in this country. If a body had pockets deep enough, they could get away with any damn thing, even murder.

Joe knew that his one chance to really stand up and take action was at hand. The last couple of years of diligent research, of learning everything he could about one particular small town and the pampered Mr. Jessop was finally going to pay off.

He’d been paying attention to the weather forecasts just lately, and he figured he wouldn’t get a better chance if God himself had handed it to him.

Everything had begun to fall into place after he’d taken that one false first step. One of the techs working emergency services in this part of the state turned out to be a coworker of his from Larson Investments—before the economy had gone in the Dumpster and the brokerage firm had closed.

Joe had run into Albert just a couple of weeks before, and the man had seemed genuinely happy to see him.

Joe would call him, and Albert would give him the one vital piece of information he would need, and then he’d finally be able to be a man.

Albert would tell him where the crew from Lusty would be sent when the alerts went out.

“You said when you called last night that you needed to ask a favor of me.”

Elizabeth’s gentle reminder pulled him back
to the moment. He nodded and set down his cup.

“I almost hate to ask, but my truck has to go in for some repairs tomorrow. And I was wondering, would you let me borrow your car for a couple of days?” After being spotted that one time when he was following those paramedics, Joe didn’t want to use his truck for what he needed to do next. He was pretty certain they’d seen him.

“Of course! Where’s the repair place? I can pick you up there.”

“Oh, no need. They’ll bring me here. I’ll just come by in the morning, if that’s all right. I’m not sure what time that will be, exactly.” Joe frowned. “That is asking a lot, isn’t it? For you to hang around until I get here, especially when you have to go to work.” Perhaps this wasn’t meant to be, after all. Joe rubbed his forehead. He was confused. He’d been confused a lot, lately, and he didn’t like the feeling one little bit.

“Why don’t you let me give you my extra set of keys, Joe? I can get a ride to work in the morning, and you can take the car when you get here.”

“Thank you, Elizabeth. You’ve always been kinder to me than I’ve deserved.”

She reached out and laid her hand over top of his. It seemed so easy, and so right, to turn his hand over, and hold hers in return. He saw the tears that shimmered in her eyes and hated himself for the hell he’d put her through.

When he felt her pull, he let her go.

“I’ll just go get you those keys. Have another cookie, Joe. You look as if you’ve lost some weight lately.”

“Thank you, Elizabeth. Your cookies are the best.”

She gave him a soft look that soothed his heart and prickled his conscience. “You’ve always said that to me, right from that first botched batch.”

  “I’ve always meant it, love.”

She turned away to get the keys and, likely, to get herself under control. That sign—that she wouldn’t freely let him see her tear up—told him volumes about the hurt he’d caused.

  Joe inhaled deeply.

He’d do what he’d decided to do. And when it was over, Elizabeth wouldn’t have to hide her tears from him anymore.
