I nodded and walked outside. I didn’t want to stand next to him and have the cashier looking at me and wonder why I needed three dildos. He came out five minutes later carrying a black plastic bag.
“I wonder if they really think these bags are anonymous. If anyone has a black plastic bag, there’s really only one place they could’ve been,” Mac said and handed it to me. “Put it in your bag.”
“You bought three of them!” I said while we walked towards the bike.
“Like I said, different purposes.” He took my hand. “I’ll show you.”
I was actually starting to look forward to it—him showing me, but it felt a bit strange. I didn’t like what it meant that we were buying them; why I needed them.
I’d already decided there was no way in hell I’d use them at home. Just the thought of Dad catching me using one, even owning one, made me gag.
“Can I keep them at your place?” I asked as he handed me my helmet.
“Yeah,” he answered. “Would probably be good if you spent a night at my place now and then. Make sure it’s all okay.”
“What would not be okay with your place?”
“Do you have to be so damn practical all the time?” he asked and put an arm around my waist. “I think I’d like knowing you’re at my place sometimes. Especially if I know you’re there to get off with some of the things we just bought.”
“You could’ve just said that.”
“Okay. I’d like to think of you, in my bed, using those, and just know you’re there sometimes. That fine with you?”
“Yes.” I could see why he’d like it, and it would give me a chance to get out of the apartment and Dad’s presence on occasion. Especially if he had April around for a visit. Our apartment wasn’t big enough for that. That’s when it hit me how clinically I was thinking about it—Mac leaving. “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you, too, Vi, but we’re not gonna start being sad about it yet.”
“I know. I just wanted to say it.”
“You’ve said it.” He gave me another kiss before throwing his leg over the bike. “Come on. We need to be at Dad’s soon, and I’m guessing you don’t want to bring the bag there.”
“No!”
We were going do Brick and Mel’s for a Sunday dinner. I had no idea why they kept calling them that, since it was pretty much the same every day of the week. Anyone who felt like some food showed up whether it was Sunday or Tuesday, but for some reason they kept calling it Sunday dinner.

Mac looked at Vi who was sitting on a chair by the kitchen island at his Dad’s house. She was drawing something on Eliza’s arm. On his way out to the deck, he stopped and gave her cheek a kiss, but she didn’t even seem to notice. His dad was already out there, and he sat down next to him while lighting a smoke.
“How’s Vi doing?” he asked.
“She’s doing okay,” Mac answered. “She’ll be fine.”
“When a guy is locked up, his Old Lady is really tested. Vi might’ve grown up in the club and knew it might happen, but it’s still different when it does.”
“I know,” he said and looked over the railing at the landscape.
“She’ll be taken care of. You know she will.”
“Yeah. I’m pretty sure her dad is capable of taking care of her,” he said with a crooked smile.
He’d seen it on her a couple of times. When it really got to her that he was going away, and that he might be away for quite some time. He didn’t want her to dwell on it yet. It was better if they tried to enjoy the time they still had, which could be a couple of months, instead of mourning about it for months before it actually happened.
“You know what I mean, kid. I meant we’ll make sure she’s taken care of, that she’s occupied, and that she’ll keep coming to club stuff.”
“She’s always done that, Dad. It’s not the same with her as with Mech’s family if he was going inside. Vi’s a part of the club whether I’m around or not. But still, thank you.” When he heard the door open behind them, he turned around and saw Vi coming towards him. “Hiding from the kids?”
“No,” she answered and sat down in his lap. “They’re full. No more room to draw.”
Brick laughed. “Could do their faces.”
“No. Mel got very aggressive when they asked for it. It’s waterproof pen.”
“Yeah, stay away from the face,” Brick nodded. “How’s work?”
“Good. Sami has pretty much let me loose, so I’m doing bigger stuff and not only cherry blossoms.” She wrinkled her nose and Mac loved when she did. “I still do a lot of fairies. The others hate them and send them my way as soon as a customer agrees.”
“Don’t like fairies?” Brick asked. “You’ve just done tons of them on Eliza.”
“I like them okay, but most just want the boring kind. No one ever wants an evil fairy. I’d like to do an evil fairy.”
Mac grabbed her necklace and pulled her down for a kiss. He’d been thinking about suggesting marking her with his ink before he went inside, but it didn’t seem like the right time. He’d wait until he came out. If she stuck with him through a prison sentence, which he was getting more and more sure she would, no one could object.
The longer they sat there on the deck, the more of the others showed up, and pretty soon all of them were on the deck. They were smoking, drinking, and talking. It was a good night. Calm, but good memories to hang on to when the they went inside.
He took Vi with him home and decided to make an exception to his rule about not acting like he was about to do time. He took the opportunity once she was post orgasm and relaxed. She was still slightly flushed and with a small smile on her lips.
“Think you’d agree to stay with me for the coming months? Sort of move in here.”
She turned and looked at him. “Yes.” Just like that—that simple. Sometimes her being practical was pretty fucking nice.
Momentum: I Know It Sounds Like Forever
-o0o—
THIS WAS THE DAY Mac had been trying to avoid thinking about, but he couldn’t anymore. It was his last day, and last night, on the outside.
To make matters worse, it was four days before Vi’s nineteenth birthday.
He couldn’t fucking believe she’d been his for almost a full year. It had gone by so fast. Extremely fucking fast, and he doubted the coming year would go by as fast. Or the coming fourteen months.
Fourteen months.
That’s what the plea bargain had ended up in. Fourteen months for all of them. The DA didn’t seem pleased; she’d wanted more for Bull and Sisco, since they had priors. Mac had no idea how Silver pulled it off, but they’d all gotten the same deal.
They’d had dinner at the clubhouse, all of them, and then he’d taken Vi to his place. She was still doing okay. She was sad, but calm.
The second they stepped over the threshold to his place, she grabbed his cut and pulled him down for a kiss.
“You are so not getting any sleep tonight,” she growled.
He laughed, part in shock, since it wasn’t a very Vi thing to do or say. But he agreed. In fact, he’d had similar thoughts.
“Think we could make use of those toys we bought?”
She looked at him with a big smile and nodded. He gave her another kiss, and couldn’t help thinking about how much he’d miss those lips. How much he was going to miss her. The thought of this being their last night in over a year made him rip her clothes off while he led her to the bed. When she was finally naked, he took a step back to look at her. He gently covered her breasts with his hands and circled her nipples with his thumbs.
“Lay down,” he said after giving each nipple a kiss. “I’m gonna go and find that bag.”
They hadn’t used them yet, which he was sure he was about to regret, but she had been hesitant, and he knew why. They’d been a clear reminder of him leaving. He’d had the same kind of feeling. When he came back to the bed, she was propped up on pillows, and he was a
lready so hard it was insane.
“Please take off the cut. It squeaks.”
“Squeaks?” he asked, but took it off and hung it over the back of a chair. “I’m gonna leave it here. Make sure you keep it safe.”
“I will,” she said, but her focus was on the bag.
“Okay.” He picked up the first one and took it out of the box. “This has a suction cup on the bottom. Can put it on the floor for a ride, or on the shower wall or… wherever it works for you to get it on doggy style.”
She blushed, but he could see the smile she was trying to hide. She liked both riding and from behind.
“Purple?” she asked and took it from him.
“They all are. My girl’s name is Violet.” He gave her a kiss and took it back from her. “I like to think about her getting off on violet dildos.”
She blushed again, and he picked out the next.
“G-spot vibrator. Chicks like it and according to them this one vibrates really hard. It’s for the spot I tease inside you when I finger fuck you.”
He was pretty damn sure she was already dripping wet from his little show and tell alone.
“Next,” she said and looked so eager. He fucking loved this.
“This is the Rolls Royce of vibrators, according to some.” He took The Rabbit out of the box. “And this is the one I wanna watch you use today.”
“Is that…” She took it from him and looked on the clit tickler. “It’s a rabbit.”
“That’s why it’s called The Rabbit.” He grabbed a hold of her hips and pulled her down on her back. “I’m gonna go get some batteries, and then I’ll warm you up.”
He noticed her picking them up when he went for the batteries. She was examining them carefully, and the view made him painfully hard, but he was going to hold off.
“They’re all smaller than you,” she said.
“Yeah, well, I want you to miss me a little while I’m away.”
“I could just buy more of them,” she laughed.
“Promise me something,” he said when he came back to the bed and lay down on top of her. “Do your very best to laugh at least once every time you visit me.”
“I promise,” she mumbled and then reached to give him a kiss.
He deepened the kiss, before moving his mouth down her naked body. He stayed a long time at her breasts, teasing them, tasting them, and apparently it was too long to her liking. With her hands on his shoulders, she pushed him further down.
“So eager, Katze. Thought the plan was to make this last?”
“No, just to keep going all night.”
“Glad I got some mechanical help.”
He kissed her belly and continued further down to the triangle of hair between her legs. He’d been right, she was already dripping wet, and he started with a long lick to try to taste as much of her as possible. He kept it up until she was ready for the rabbit. Gently, he pushed it inside, and she moved towards it with a moan. She arched as he turned it on. It was so damn hot, and he fisted his free hand into the cover, because his gut reaction was to just pull it out and fuck her immediately, and he wanted to see this first.
“Oh my god, Mac.”
“Like it?” he asked, and his voice was more than a little hoarse.
“Yes.”
He moved up, still holding on to the vibrator, and once again kissed her breasts. He circled her perfectly sized, hard nipples with his tongue—trying to memorize exactly what they felt like in his mouth—her smooth left nipple and the right with the stud. They felt different, but equally good. Then he was back at her lips doing the same thing. Trying to remember every fucking detail of her. How all of her tasted and felt.
Vi was moaning. She absolutely loved her toy, and he figured she was far enough along for him to make his next move.
“Take it.”
She didn’t hesitate and grabbed the vibrator, and he got up on his knees to take off his clothes as he watched her. He halted, though, when his eyes fell on her. Naked and so beautiful, and it looked like she was closing in on her first climax. He quickly removed his t-shirt, unbuttoned his jeans, and lay back down next to her.
“You are so beautiful, Vi.” He stroked her hair from her face. “I love you, baby.”
“Kiss me.”
He did as she asked, and felt her body tense and then tremble as she was coming. She was holding on to him with her free hand, moaning into his mouth, and then relaxed. He could hear the vibrator still buzzing and reached down to turn it off. She’d already pulled it out.
“You okay, Katze?” She nodded. “Want me to give you a moment?” She nodded again, and he laughed and gave her a kiss. “I think you’ll be just fine without me.”
“No, but at least I’ll be able to get off.” She threw her arms around him. “I love you.”
They didn’t manage to go at it all night. Around four, they fell asleep, and when they woke up they had sex one last time. No toys, just the two of them— slowly, and he made sure to watch her as she came.
-o0o—
Bear was waiting for it, and the second Mac left the lot outside the clubhouse, Vi fell into his arms and bawled her eyes out. They stood there for a long time, and she wasn’t the only one crying.
When she finally seemed to calm down a little, he started them towards the truck.
“Come on, Katze,” he said. “I’ll take you home.”
He’d known the bike would be a bad idea, and he knew she just wanted to go home. She wouldn’t want to stay with the others at the clubhouse. There really wasn’t much to say. She knew exactly how long Mac would be away and there wasn’t anything changing it. While they were on their way home, her sobbing subsided into random hiccups. He took her hand.
“I know it sounds like forever, but he’ll be back before you know it.”
“You do realize he’s gonna be gone for longer than we’ve been together?”
He really tried. He bit down on his cheeks really hard, but there was no use. She knew he was laughing the second he started, and she gave his arm a hard punch.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
“I know.” Then she moved closer, and leaned her head on his shoulder. “I’m just glad he never mentioned it.”
“Are you going to stay at home?”
She turned her head and gave him a crooked smile. “As long as I’m not in the way.”
“She’s got a house.”
He’d been seeing April a lot the past months, since Vi and Mac had been with each other whenever they could. When he warned April he might have less time once Mac went inside, she’d once again pointed out she had two boys of her own, and she understood. She’d be there when he had time for her for a while.
“How long till I can visit him?”
“A month, maybe. He’ll send you the papers as soon as he can. It might take a while until you’re approved, but it shouldn’t be more than a month.”
“He told me to write.” She wrinkled nose. “I told him he’d have to make do with drawings.”
“You can write, Vi! Not like you’re illiterate.” He wished she’d stop pulling herself down when it came to that. “Besides, those fucking letters mean a lot.”
“I’ll send him naked pics instead. They’ll probably mean a lot, too”
Bear turned his head and stared at her. It took her a few moments, and then she started laughing.
“Do not do that to your dad!”
“That face totally cheered me up.”
“Guess it was worth it, then.”
Naked pics! His girl would not send Mac any jerk-off pics. Those got stolen and spread all over the place with everyone commenting on them. He knew it for a fact, because he used to steal them from others while he was inside.
“Send him pics, but keep the clothes on,” he muttered.
“I’ll do my best.” She gave his cheek a quick kiss. “And just let me know if you want me out of the apartment. He asked me to keep an eye on his place, so I can stay nights there sometim
es.”
‘Keep an eye on his place.’ Sometimes his daughter really was naïve. Mac obviously wanted her to get used to his place, and used to being there alone, so she’d come and live with him there once he got out.
When they came home, Vi went to her room, and he thought it was better to give her some time. He went into the kitchen, opened the window, and lit a smoke. He’d give her a couple of weeks, and if she still seemed on pause, only waiting for Mac to come back, he’d do something about it.
This was her shot at doing things she might’ve missed out on if the relationship between her and Mac had continued on the very serious track it’d been on. He needed to make sure she used Mac’s time inside as an opportunity to grow and not just to sit around and wait for him. He had no fucking idea how he’d do that, but he was definitely going to give it some thought.
-o0o—
That first night I cried—a lot. Eventually, I gave up on even trying to sleep and instead started writing the first letter to Mac. I hated writing, really hated it, and I’d warned him about it. Not only that I hated it, but that I wasn’t very good at it. I wasn’t even certain he’d understand what I was trying to tell him.
He’d still insisted and had promised to write to me as well. I’d seen his handwriting, and it was pretty shit. I had no idea how I’d be able to read his letters. It would’ve been hard even without the dyslexia, and I doubted they would be the kind of letters I could ask Dad to read to me. Or rather, I hoped they’d be letters I couldn’t ask Dad to read to me.
I’d told Mom about Mac. Surprisingly, she hadn’t gloated about it or even rubbed it in my face. At least not much; there was a remark about how it was best I got used to it. She’d suggested I come and live with her in California for a while, which wasn’t going to happen, but I’d simply said I didn’t want to leave Wicked Ink.
Lisa’d been great. She’d initially planned to come and stay with me here for a few weeks, but she couldn’t get the time off. It meant a lot that she’d even tried. She was coming for Christmas instead and had been planning the entire thing along with Mitch. The plan was apparently to get me drunk. She’d promised she and Mitch would take care of me and make sure I stayed out of trouble. I didn’t like the idea. I hadn’t liked being drunk the last time I was, and I definitely didn’t like the day after. It had been horrible. Also, Mitch wasn’t exactly the kind of person who kept you out of trouble.
