Revengeful Deceptions

He smiled. "Baby, that's all I needed to hear. You will never have to worry about me doing anything remotely asinine every again, I promise.”

“Well my husband I hate to say it but if we don’t head back they might wonder what I’ve done to you,” she winked and held out her hand to him.

“Adam you have an amazing wife,” Neal told him while they sat in Adam's office going over paperwork.

“Yes I do, but I’m afraid in a stupid moment of weakness I didn’t realize just how amazing she is.”

“Well now you do buddy so take care not to forget.”

Dominique fought hard against the urge not to invite Adam home sooner rather than later. She was in need of his touch, a touch that she sourly missed. “I know I’m doing the right thing,” she told Molly while they were out shopping for dresses for the party.

“You are Dom, and I happen to know for a fact that he hardly ever leaves the penthouse once he gets home from work.

So I think it's safe to say that Renee is out of his life for good.”

Dominique smiled as she picked out a short, chocolate colored sequined cocktail dress. “Well let's hope so because I told him that if she ever came around him, I’d leave him. Now let's try these dresses on, I think I found one that'll knock his socks off,” Dominique grinned at her friend.

Adam stood shaving in front of the bathroom mirror. He wanted to look his best, not only because it was his parent’s anniversary party but because he wanted to impress his wife. He hoped that seeing him would cause her to change her mind and invite him home, it had been months since they were together intimately and he was tired of pleasuring himself, he wanted to feel her, taste her, be inside of her, over and over again. Adam had sent a letter along with a small gift to his wife and he hoped that she would read it before the party.

Dominique sipped on a glass of wine as she got ready for the party. Molly and Neal hired a car so that they wouldn’t have to worry about drinking and driving. The knock on the door came just as Dominique had slipped into her dress. A young delivery man whistled when she opened the door.

“Ah, I have a delivery for a Mrs. Caruso?” The young man said through his gaping jaw.

“Thank you; Hang on a sec while I get you a little something.”

An even bigger grin came across his face when Dominique handed him a twenty dollar bill.

“Thank you ma'am and enjoy your evening.”

Dominique wondered what was in the package with no return address. She read the letter first.

  Dominique,

I want you to have this gift. Last Christmas because I was being an ass, you gave it back. But I want you to know that I kept it in the hopes that you would want to wear it. If you are wearing this tonight Dominique I’ll know that you’re willing to give us another try. If you aren't well, let's hope that doesn't happen. I love you Dominique and I can't wait to see you, with or without the bracelet, although I hope and pray it’s with, and if you do decide to wear it, I want to make love to you and I want you wearing nothing but this diamond bracelet.

  All my love forever,

  Adam.

She smiled as she fastened the bracelet on her wrist. Tonight she expertly applied her makeup and spent hours on her hair. It was worth it, the end result was stunning. The sequin cocktail dress was the perfect length to show off her legs and hour glass figure, and the matching sexy sling backs she chose she was sure would drive Adam crazy.

“Dominique you look amazing!” Molly and Neal exclaimed.

“So do you guys! Molly that dress looks amazing on you!” Molly had chosen a black velvet cocktail dress with intricate beading along the plunging neck line.

“And Neal, you look hot in your tux, god you two make the perfect couple.” Dominique beamed.

“So will you and Adam once you come to your senses and take him back.” Molly said reassuringly. “And that's what's going to happen tonight right Dom?”

Dominique showed Molly the bracelet and told her the story behind it.

“Dominique that is the sweetest thing! You'd be a fool not to take him back, his taste in jewelry alone is well worth it,” Molly giggled

“Don't fret Moll, I have every intention of taking him back but I’m still going to make him squirm a little, at least I think I am,” she giggled.

Neal shook his head as he led the ladies into the party.

Muriel and Jonathan looked as gorgeous as ever as they greeted their guests and lead them into the large ballroom. Walking in, one would have thought it was a wedding reception. Beautiful floral centerpieces adorned each table and the bar would be serving top shelf drinks all night long. The disc jockey was playing soft jazz. Candles and autumn greenery shone and draped everywhere. The gourmet food buffet was delectable with every delicacy one could imagine, from sushi to grilled steak, hearty and delicious food.

Adam was at the bar when he saw Dominique walk in. She looked stunning in her cocktail dress, he immediately got hard. From where he was standing he couldn’t tell whether or not she was wearing the bracelet. Maybe she didn’t even get it, he thought to himself as he began to worry. Only one way to find out, he told himself as he made his way over to her.

Adam decided to take a chance, he slowly came up behind her, placed his hands around her waist and kissed her gently on the neck and whispered in her ear. “You look absolutely stunning Dominique.”

Dominique smiled as she turned around and noted how deliciously handsome he looked in his tuxedo. When she did, Adam could see that she was wearing the bracelet. A smile crept across his handsome face as he acknowledged it and held her wrist.

“Just so I’m sure, does this mean what I think it means?” He asked palms sweating from nervousness.

“Yes Adam, yes it does.” She threw her arms around her husband as they held a very lengthy kiss.

“And here I thought we were the one's celebrating,” grinned Muriel as she wrapped her arms around her husband with joy.

“Dominique, you have no idea of how much I missed you,” Adam whispered.

  “I've missed you too baby.”

As the evening came to a close, Adam's cousin Nicole had convinced the young couples to stop at a dance club nearby.

“Nicole I haven’t been to a night club in ages, but I’m game if Molly and Neal are.” Dominique said, a bit tipsy from the wine.

“Are you kidding?” said Molly, “We'd love to go, we've got the car all night so what are we waiting for, let's go.”

Adam laughed as he helped his wife into the car.

The music was pumping so loudly when they entered the club that Dominique and Adam both had to cover their ears.

“I told you it’s been ages since I’ve been to a night club!” Dominique shouted.

“Oh don't worry, you guys will get used to it!” Nicole shouted back.

While Nicole lead the way up the stairs to a lounge area. Adam couldn’t help but notice several male patrons looking at his wife. You can look but don’t touch; his icy glares clearly sent the message across.

While the couples went out onto the dance floor, Dominique decided to share a moment alone with her husband.

“Adam, thank you for coming out with us, I know this isn’t exactly our thing.” She laughed and kissed him fully on the lips.

He held her kiss before responding. “Dominique there is no place I’d rather be, okay that's a lie I can think of one other place,” he said with a sly grin.

“Well does that mean that you'd dance at least one dance with me Adam Caruso? You know we haven’t danced since our wedding day.”

“I suppose I could do that for you sweetheart,” he grinned as he led her to the dance floor.

Four songs later the group returned to their tables, hot, sweaty, more than tipsy and ready to go. Just let us make a trip to the ladies room.” Dominique told the guys.

“Might as well order another drink,” said Neal, “Did you see the line for the ladies room?” He joked.

  “We won’t
be that long, sit tight boys we’ll be right back,” said Nicole as she gave her boyfriend a kiss on the cheek.

Dominique was glad the wait was short for the ladies room and as she opened up the stall door she saw Renee, she was applying makeup to her already cake laden face when she turned and stared at Dominique. By this time Molly and Nicole had come out as well.

“Well, well, well isn’t this cute, what is it ladies night for you all?” Renee said in a sarcastic tone.

“What happened? You leave your husband again Dominique?” Dominique let out a snicker, “Not that it's any of your business, but he’s here with me.”

“Well I can't say that I’m surprised, when he was with me, we went out dancing almost every night.”

“Don't you mean he watched you dancing every night because you certainly look like a cheap, slutty, two bit, dime store stripper who can't get her own man so she has to try to steal away others.”

Dominique stood mere inches away from Renee now as she said, “Listen Renee, I’ll make this simple, you stay the hell away from my husband. Do you hear me? Stay away from my husband and get your own goddamn man.” Dominique shouted angrily.

Renee swallowed hard as Dominique turned and walked away.

“No one talks to me that way, especially some nobody like you. You haven't heard the last from me Dominique and I think you forget I had your husband first. If you want my sloppy seconds be my guest, it's all you can get anyway,” Renee shouted as she shoved her makeup back in her purse and stomped out of the ladies room.

“If he's your sloppy seconds why are you trying to come back for thirds huh Renee?” Dominique shouted after her with Molly and Nicole by her side.

By the time the ladies returned from the restroom, Adam could tell by the look on his wife's face that something was wrong. He hadn’t seen Renee in the night club and when Dominique told him what was said in the restroom, he reassured her that he wanted nothing more to do with Renee.

“Oh I know you don't babe, we've already had that discussion. I was taken a bit off guard seeing her but I’ve said what I needed to say and I think I got my message across loud and clear. So what's say you and I go home, I’ve missed you,” she whispered while giving his ear a nibble.

“You took the words right out of my mouth,” he let out a low growl.

It was almost three am before they were dropped home, the night was pitch black but Adam and Dominique were wide awake.

“I'm glad your home baby.” Dominique let out a playful moan as she lead him to the bedroom, shedding her dress along the way.

“So am I baby, so am I,” he said as he pulled his wife into a warm embrace and kissed her. “I want you so bad Adam,” Dominique moaned as they tugged and pulled at each other’s clothes. The love making was erotic and wild, as both were so hungry for the other that it felt as if they were holding their breath and with each touch and thrust, a release would escape them.

Dominique had never wanted him as much as she did tonight. They both realized how long it had been since they were together and that thought excited them even more as they made love again. Just as the light of dawn began to peek through the sky, the two lovers fell asleep spooning.

  Chapter Thirty Four

Things soon returned to normal for Dominique and Adam. They found themselves catching up on newlywed life and enjoying each and every moment of it. Adam had a difficult case that he was working on involving rival gang members; there had been an armed robbery where the store owner ended up getting shot and wounded.

He was able to I.D. the suspect who was now in custody and Adam's client, but he was maintaining his innocence claiming that a rival gang had set him up. He was claiming that the actual perpetrators had donned the gangs color and robbed and shot the convenience store owner. Adam believed his client and was hell bent on proving his innocence. Neal was sent to do some investigating for the case and it had proven to be a bit dangerous going into gang territory. Dominique had found herself helping her husband as best she could, by going over any paperwork she could find and spotting if any, minor errors.

Even though he had to work extra-long hours on his current case, Dominique liked the fact that they were able to get their lives back to some kind of normality. They had formed a strong friendship with Neal and Molly and had managed to take time out to go to dinner with their friends at least once a week. Dominique liked the thought of Adam and Neal becoming close. Since they were working closely on Adam's case, they had gotten to get to know one another and found that they had a lot in common. Neal was very good at what he did and because of his thorough investigating, what he found worked for the client's benefit. With the case coming to a close, they were hopeful that the jury would come back with a not guilty verdict.

“I'll be glad when this case is over and done with; I’ve never felt so exhausted.” Adam hinted as they sat together at dinner one Friday night.

“Yeah, I hear ya, these guys are bad news Adam, you don’t know what I had to go through to get that info man, talk about gangsters, these guys don’t mess around and what’s worse, they've got no problem shooting a man in the street just for looking at them the wrong way. Yeah I’ll be glad to see this one done and over with.”

Hearing that frightened Molly, “Neal, you don’t think that there will be any retaliation from either gang do you?” She asked concerned with what she'd been hearing at the office.

“I hope not, but you never know with these guys, but I don’t think there will be any problems, these guys are in court all the time. What do you think Adam, has your client said anything about retaliation?”

Adam took a sip of his drink. “No he hasn’t said much except that he's paying me a lot of money and that I better get him off or else.”

“Adam honey, you never told me that, Adam that sounds like a threat, please be careful around this guy, who knows what he's capable of,” Dominique put her arm around him.

“I will Dominique, this isn’t my first case, I think I know what I’m doing,” he snapped.

“No one said you didn’t Adam.” Dominique was unsure about what had gotten into him, he'd been very short with her a lot lately, and it had to be the stress of the case.

“Adam, are you sure you don’t want to just call it a night and go home and get some rest, I think you've earned it after the week you've had,” said Neal, who could sense the tension and see the exhaustion in his friends face.

“No, I’m out, we're out and it's dinner time, now who's hungry?” Adam knew he was being rude to his wife and friends but he hadn't wanted to go out to begin with. But Dominique insisted, saying that she never gets to socialize with her friends anymore since everyone was so busy with the case. She basically forced him into going, and it didn’t seem to matter to her that he was exhausted. He wanted to eat dinner, go home and go to bed.

After the meal, Molly and Dominique excused themselves to the ladies room, and while they were gone, Adam and Neal were sitting at the table talking sports when Adam heard someone calling his name.

“Adam? I thought that was you, are you two here alone?” She asked quickly turning around to make sure.

“No we're not Renee, and might I suggest you leave right now? Look I don’t mean to be rude but neither I or my wife and friends want anything to do with you so please leave Renee.”

Adam was too tired to have to deal with his wife and Renee.

“I'll leave after I get my hug goodbye Adam,” she said moving closer towards him.

“Renee I’ll say it again, please leave.”

Renee placed her arms around him and hugged him.

“I know I am not seeing what I am seeing.” Dominique said, the anger instantly coming to a boil inside of her.

“What?” Said Molly, she too looked in the direction of their table. “Now Dom, control yourself, she's just a bitch and she's trying to get in the last word that's all, Adam is your husband remember that, and he seems very tired so cut him some slack . I want you to take a couple deep
breaths before we go back to....” it was too late; Dominique had already made a bee line for the table just as Renee had walked away.

“What the hell was she doing here Adam?” Dominique tried to remain calm.

Thank god she didn’t see Renee hug me, Adam thought to himself. He was grateful for small favors.

“Dominique I can't control where that woman goes and I really don’t care, she's gone now, I’m tired I just want to go home and go to sleep can we please drop it goddammit!” Adam said through gritted teeth.

Dominique knew that he was tired; otherwise he would have never spoken to her in that type of tone.

Just wait until we get in the car, Dominique told herself.

“Adam, answer my question and I’ll drop it, I swear. What was she doing at our table Adam?” Dominique stayed true to her word and was relentless during the ride home.

“Goddammit Dominique, you just don’t know when to quit do you? I said drop it.”

  Adam had reached their home.

“Adam don’t talk to me like that, I’m not a child you know.”

“Well stop acting like one Dominique, now can we please go inside?”

Dominique got out of the car and slammed the door before stomping into the condo. Once inside, she had decided not to let up.

“Adam I told you what would happen if I found you around that damn woman again!”

“Dominique baby, I told you I want nothing to do with her ever again and that’s exactly what I told her now please can we go to bed?” Adam pleaded with his wife, his patience was wearing thin and he was starting to get angry. He was just so damn tired.

“That's great that you told her that Adam but why did she come over to the table to begin with is what I want to know.”

“Dominique! Stop, will you just fucking stop.” Adam grabbed her. “Listen and listen good, I said I don’t know why she came to the table but whatever reason it was I put a stop to it just like you asked. Now if you hound me about this anymore, you won’t have to worry about leaving because I’ll fucking pack your bags for you!” When Adam released his grip on her, Dominique looked at him and with tears in her eyes, made her way into the bedroom. “You’re sleeping on the couch tonight,” was all she could muster before she broke down in silent tears. “That's fine with me,” Adam snarled as he shut off the light and soon feel into a deep sleep.
