by The Claiming (lit)

Melody rambled on in the background.

“Melody, could you please get Hoyt or Chax? Now!” Her words came out between her teeth not moving her mouth. She wanted to snatch her hand back, but she didn’t dare move. She knew some of those snakes could spring at her at any moment. Her body wanted to shake, but she held still and waited.

“We don’t need them in here getting in the way…” Melody stopped in her tracks, Tabatha knew she could now see the snakes.

“Don’t you dare scream. Walk slowly back into the living room and get them now, please,” Tabatha begged. One snake started to slide out of the bin and moved towards her. The other snakes in the box stared at her and waited to strike. Tabatha could hear Melody in the living room explaining. Chax entered the room with Hoyt. The potato bin disappeared, but the one snake that slithered out of it squirmed up her leg. Tabatha knew Chax made the bin disappear with his powers.

“You missed one. It’s on my leg,” she gritted out through clenched teeth slowly she looked down and watched as it untwined from her leg. It slithered over to Chax. It made its way up his body and wrap around his arm. She just stared.

Tabatha felt her legs weaken and crumble. Hoyt rushed to her side and picked her up. He cradled her in his arms and carried her back into the living room.

He sat down on the couch with her in his lap. “Are you hurt anywhere?” Hoyt asked and, he cheeked every nook of her body. He pulled off her dress in front of everyone, except Chax. She looked around for him and tried to cover her body with her arms, but he wasn’t there.

  “Where’s Chax?” she asked, hurt.

“He left, said he’d be back,” Hoyt mumbled and held her in a tight hold. He kissed her neck and took her mouth in a desperate kiss.

Tabatha pulled back, staring at his face and brushed his hair out of his eyes gently.

“I am okay, Hoyt, not one of them bit me, but I think someone else better cook breakfast. I am not going into that kitchen just yet.” Tabatha tried to laugh, but she couldn’t. Pesky tears formed in her eyes. She scooted off his lap and ran to her bedroom. She slammed the door, not wanting to face anyone.

Why does something always go wrong for me? She screamed. She laid her head down on her pillow. Everything that happened the last forty-eight hours came crashing down on her.

She didn’t even notice when Hoyt came in the bedroom until she felt the bed move. He lay down next to her and pulled her smaller body to his. He held her while she cried.

“Why do they want to hurt me? I don’t understand, Hoyt, why isn’t Chax here?” she mumbled into his bare chest, holding on tight.

“I don’t know why they want your family dead, but we’ll find those responsible, I promise.”

Then they heard Chax bellow his rage from the living room. He came storming into the room. He stopped at the foot of the bed and stared at them. His clothes flew off his body. Ever so slowly, he crawled onto the bed with them.

Tabatha stared at him as he lay down next to her.

He ran his hand down her hair.

“You left me?” she said, and hiccupped. She hated when she did that. Every time she got upset, she got the hiccups.

“I am sorry. I had to follow the scent while I could. As it is, I lost the trail of who put those snakes in the box. It had to be a demon. No other could get into the house without me knowing. I am sorry.” Chax pulled her into his arms as both he and Hoyt checked her over again.

“You have nothing to be sorry about. You can’t do everything.” She traced his cheek with his finger.

They squished her between them, and they hugged and kissed her face and neck. Chax lifted her leg over his. He pushed his shaft into her pussy and reached around spreading her cheeks for Hoyt.

Hoyt slowly pushed his cock into her nether-hole. They stayed that way, not moving anything except their hands. They traced her body. Chax leaned down, kissed her softly while they started to pump into her. A single leftover tear dropped down onto Chax’s cheek. She heard him growl and he broke the kiss. He stared down at her, pumping his cock into her harder.

“They’ll suffer for hurting what is precious to us.”

“I am okay, Chax, just glad you’re here now,” Tabatha whispered, meaning it.

Chax and Hoyt proceeded to make love to her for the next two hours. They worshiped her body. So tired and sore she fell deep asleep in their arms knowing she would be safe with them.

  Chapter 6

Tabatha stood on the deck and leaned on the rail, coffee in her hand. She stared out over the lake trying to make some sense of all of this. Someone wanted her dead and they didn’t hide the fact that they were after her. A whole day gone, she couldn’t believe she slept after making love to her two men.

Melody and her mates had a meeting with the realtor who listed the house next door. Ben had already told her they planned on making an offer on it today. Even though they would be neighbors, one hundred acres stood between them. Chax’s brothers stood guard and watched her like a hawk ever since she got up. Chax suspected the threat wasn’t over and told her that one of them would be with her at all times.

Sighing, she wondered what to do with her life. She needed a job or something. She just couldn’t sit around all day doing nothing. Even though she knew both of her men wouldn’t let her do much, there had to be something she could do from home. The men walked the property now trying to decide where the pack house would go.

Tabatha took a quick stroll down to the dock and sat down. Her feet slipped into the warm water and she knew the guard watched her. Tabatha removed her sundress and slipped into the water. The warm water soothed her sore muscles. She worked out her muscles by doing laps in the lake until she couldn’t do anymore. She swam out to the floating dock and crawled up, lying down in the sun. She fell asleep dreaming of her mates’ bodies next to her in the sun.

Tabatha woke to someone shouting her name. She looked up. Melody stood on the pier waving her hands back and forth, motioning for her to come back. She slipped into the water and swam back to the dock.

“I have the keys to the car, and the men are busy planning things. Why don’t we go shop? I have a credit card.” She waved it in the air.

Tabatha laughed at her childish act and walked inside the house so she could get dressed. She opened the car door when Chax and Hoyt pushed it closed and surrounded her.

“Where do you think you two are going?” Chax asked. He pushed Tabatha up against the car. His body pinned her in.

Melody stood by the drivers’ side door with her hands on her hips.

“We’re going shopping. Nothing bad. Now let her go. We need to do something while you guys plan things.”

“Does your mate know you have his credit card and what you’re planning?” Hoyt asked, smiling at Melody.

Melody snickered. “What they don’t know won’t hurt them.” Melody hopped into the car when everyone saw her mates pull in front of the car. Tabatha could hear Melody groan. Her mates surrounded the driver’s door. Frowns on their faces, they pulled her out of the car and pushed her onto the hood.

“You took my card and disappeared. How many times do we have to tell you, you can’t go anywhere by yourself?” Ben yelled. “I swear you’re going to give me a migraine.” He kissed her lips and squeezed her breast.

Tabatha laughed when she heard a growl and noticed both of her mates frowning down at her.

“This goes for you, too. You can’t go without guards. You know this.” Chax demanded. He turned her body to face the car and lifted her dress. He ripped off her underwear. “Yet, you continue to defy us.”

“What the hell are you doing? We’re going shopping. Stop—” Tabatha yelled she felt the smacks come down on her ass. She then felt one of their hands caress her butt softly. She sighed, thinking they needed her again. She didn’t mind making love to her mates again. Lately, she craved it all the time. She heard the air whoosh before the hand came down on her. She could hear Melody yell in the background. Hoyt flipped
her back over, and Tabatha stared at two furious males.

“Now, go back into the house so we don’t have to worry. We’ll take you shopping later,” Hoyt ordered.

Tabatha felt her face burn and her anger heated her body and sweat formed on her forehead.

  “Watch out, Hoyt!” Ben yelled.

Tabatha brought up her knee and shoved it in his balls. She reached back, bringing her fist back hard, hitting Chax in the face. She sent him flying across the yard onto his ass. Tabatha glared at her mates. She couldn’t believe the power she had now that they changed her. She grinned, looking at her fist.

“I’ll tell you what. I am going shopping now with Melody! No one, and I mean no one, is going to stop us. If you want to send a guard with us fine, but don’t you ever tell me what to do again. I am not your pet!” she shouted and got into the car, slamming the door and locked it.

Melody fought to get into the car and finally managed to get in slamming her door shut. She backed up the car and they made their escape. All four men on the ground glared at the car as they pulled away.

Melody and Tabatha drove in silence to the mall, each fuming about their mates.

“I am going to have to buy stock in underwear I have a feeling.” Tabatha stated ten minutes later, as they walked into the mall.

“I know what you mean. Ben and Shane do the same to me. What is it with them anyway? My ass is so fucking sore. It would serve them right if we went to a movie and stayed out late.”

“You know, I haven’t seen a movie in a long time. Let’s do it. They have this new action movie with that hot British guy.” Tabatha smiled and looked at the shoes on the rack in front of her. She loved shoes it was her one weakness when it came to shopping.

Hoyt wrapped his arms around her and surprised her. She elbowed him in the gut, turning around fast, ready to punch whoever it was. She knew to keep it quiet not wanting to draw attention to herself. She heard his grunt and rolled her eyes ignoring them continuing to shop.

“Hey, Melody, what do you think about these?” Tabatha walked to the rack of shoes where Melody stood. “I think they’ll match that blue outfit you have, and they’re half-off.”

She showed her a pair of three-inch pumps. Melody oohed and ahhed over them, and then grabbed them and put them into her pile. They sat down on the chairs closest to them to try on the shoes. Their mates’ shadows blocked the light as they stood behind them.

“I don’t know why you’re here. You two were busy, remember? We have plans, so just leave the guards and go. And don’t worry about dinner. We’ll eat out.” Tabatha tried on a pair of black pumps.

“You’ll come home when you’re done here. We’ll wait,” Chax growled.

Tabatha turned and glared at him. His six and half feet tall form toward over her, his long red hair swung around his face. His black eyes glared down at her. She couldn’t believe how handsome he appeared in human form. Muscles rippled under his shirt, which lay tight against his chest. She could stand there all day and drool over him, but she shook her head.

“I am going to the movies with Melody after we are done shopping, and then we’re going out for dinner. I won’t have time to do anything when your parents come for the ceremony in a few days. Tabatha stated through clenched teeth.

“Can I help you ladies with anything?” The saleslady came up to them, Chax raised his hand ready to something else then stopped. Tabatha smiled and handed the sales lady the pile of shoes to purchase.

“Yes, you can ring these up and give them to him,” Tabatha stated and pointed to Chax. His face burned red, and his eyebrows twitched.

“He’ll pay for them and put them in the car. I have some more shopping to do. Thanks, honey!” Tabatha smiled over her shoulder and pulled Melody with her.

Melody laughed as they made their way to the clothing department at Macy’s.

“You know what? With all this talk about our ceremony, I forgot I don’t have a dress. We already picked out your dress, so let’s shop for mine. Since this isn’t going to be a big wedding, I think something short and cool would work well. I don’t want white. I like dark red. I know it’s different, but it’s my favorite color and it would look great with Chax’s deep red hair and Hoyt’s black hair.”

Tabatha looked at the dresses with Melody. She spotted the dress she wanted about ten minutes later hanging on a different rack. It’s perfect. It had no back, and the front swept down to show part of her cleavage. Tabatha squealed and danced around with the dress.

Melody laughed as they walked to the fitting room so she could try it on, but Chax stepped in her way and took the dress out of her hand. He put it back on the rack and held her around the waist.

A stranger leered, standing in front of them. “Well, why did you do that? I wanted to see the slut in the dress. What’s wrong, Chax? Did you really think you could kill me that easy the last time we met?”

Demons appeared from nowhere and surrounded them. Tabatha moved closer to Chax. She noticed no humans paid them any attention, as if they weren’t even there.

Melody had scooted closer to the fitting room and tried to get away, when a demon marked with slave status on his arm swept her up into his arms. She screamed and all hell broke loose.

Tabatha ducked out of Chax’s arms, going straight for the demon that held Melody. She noticed one of Chax’s brothers taking care of the demon that had held Melody. Melody stood in Ben’s arms. His gaze landed on her and she could see the anger that lay there. Tabatha frowned and backed up into a solid chest. Looking up into another demon’s face, he smiled down at her.

  Shit!

“How did you get away from Caym?” Chax growled and started to transform into his demon form.

Tabatha heard what Chax said while she elbowed the giant behind her, but he didn’t budge.

Shit and double shit. She screamed in her head and slung her arm down hitting him right in the groin. She turned just as he buckled to his knees, cupping himself.

Tabatha gave a kick to his jaw with all her new strength and sent him flying towards Caym, who smiled at her.

“You know you could help,” she growled and turned, watching Chax turn into his demon form. His skin turned a bright red, his teeth grew huge, and his hands grew to sharp weapons.

“Caym is too lazy, and too cocky thinking no one will oppose him,” the man said, not noticing that Caym stood to the side.

“Now, I think I’m going to have that little slut you call your mate. I bet she’ll be tight when I take her. Who knows? Maybe I’ll keep her until I get tired of her,” the demon Chax fought with bragged. He didn’t see Chax’s brothers circle the other demons.

Tabatha still knew the numbers did not look good. Then she saw Hoyt, Shane, and her brother come in behind them. She couldn’t see where they put Melody. Anger and hatred rolled off them.

The demon attacked Chax. They slammed into her, sending her backwards on her ass. Clothes flew everywhere. She looked up just in time to see the same demon that attacked her earlier come for her again. Tabatha kicked straight in the balls again. He crouched over in pain. She looked around and noticed a piece of metal from the broken rack lying close to her. She grabbed it and hit the demon across the head.

She looked up and saw Chax come running to her, Hoyt right behind him. The fighting stopped as Caym roared and appeared next to them. He shook his head and laughed, while her mates stuffed her between their bodies.

“I can’t believe your mate just knocked out the same lesser demon, twice! Oh, this is great. Wait until the boss hears. I bet he shows up at your ceremony. You’ve lucked out my friend. I must apologize though,” he said, pointing at demon on the floor, “for letting this one get away from me. I caught him last week, and the weasel slipped by the guards, who are now being punished.” Caym growled. He glared at the demon that lay sprawled out on the floor dead. Tabatha leaned on Chax, looking for Melody and seeing her nowhere.

  “Where’s Melody?” she asked.

Like you care,” Hoyt clenched out between his teeth. Tabatha started to protest. “You put her life in danger along with yours. Chax sent her back to the house with some guards.”

Tabatha shrank back, looking at Ben and Shane. They stood there glaring at her. They turned and walked away without a word.

Tabatha looked around and noticed all the demons gone. Glancing around the story she noticed everything back as if there had never been a fight. Tabatha heard Caym calling her name. She turned to see him coming toward her.

“I must say goodbye, dear lady. It has been enjoyable and I’m a little jealous of Chax. You’re the perfect mate for him. But I would put a tighter leash on you than he has, but I’ll have fun watching you give him hell,” he whispered, laughing at his pun. “Good luck with these guys.” He pointed at her mates. “You’re going to need it.” Caym grinned, kissing her cheek and disappeared.

Tabatha blushed and looked up at her mates’ glaring eyes. They didn’t say a word to her as they disappeared from the store.

Her head rose up and she glanced up and her headboard greeted her vision. Face down on the bed she tried to turn around but her hands and legs tied to the bed. Tabatha screamed not knowing what happened. She heard someone move around behind.

“You’ll learn to listen to us and not risk your life or others,” Chax yelled and spanked her ass.

“Let me up how dare you do this!” Tears slipped down her face. Her butt burned, but they continued to spank her ignoring her plea and refusing to let her up.

Tabatha held her breath and the spanking had stopped. She waited to see if there would be more when she felt them untie her legs and hands.

Chax pulled the sheet over her body and both of her mates walked out the door. The tears slowly stopped and she closed her eyes. Tabatha couldn’t understand why everyone was so furious with her. It’s not like I knew the demons would be there!
