“What did she want?” I asked not wanting to look at him, but not taking my eyes from him.
Jay ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “She wanted to say happy birthday, among other things.”
“Like?”
“Tell me about your niece.” Jay asked, staring closely at me.
I blinked. I hadn’t seen that coming.
“She’s like any other regular little girl. What does this have to do with Jennifer?” I asked, just as the waitress put our drinks down on the table. I saw from the corner of my eyes her smiling at Jay.
“Is there anything else you need?” She asked, trolling her hair.
For the love of….
“Just give us a few minutes.” I let out and then grabbed Jay’s hand.
“Okay,” She gave me a weak smile.
Jay brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. “You’re perfect you know.”
I rolled my eyes and took my hand from his. It was hard to ignoring the way his lips had felt on my skin, but I did. “What’s wrong?”
“We’re protecting your family.”
“What did she say?”
“She claims that someone may hurt your niece if we’re not careful.” Jay sighed. “And since she’s doesn’t have her hands dirty I can’t killing her. She has to have a tail before anything can be done.”
“She wants to kill my niece and you can’t do anything.” I screamed. “If you can’t I will.”
Jay grabbed my hand. “Bonnie, my world has rules we have to follow, just like yours. If I went off and killed her without her have a fare trail, I would be making my family look bad in front of my people. My parents are the rulers, so I have to make sure I’m always following the rules.”
I paused and understood what he was saying.
“You guys are going to make sure she stays safe, right?” I asked.
“Yes,”
“Watch her instead of me.”
“I’ll watch you, they’ll watch her.” He whispered.
“No, just watch her.” I told him, firmly. “I don’t want anything to happen to her. I’ll be fine, just watch her.”
“Bonnie,” Jay began, but got cut off by the waitress.
“Are you two ready?” She asked.
Jay stared at her. I saw him link his lips and shake. I blinked. Something about the way he looked at her made me know he wasn’t looking at her because he found her hot.
Suddenly I realized that he looked off. I had thought it was because of the fact Jennifer had showed up, but now I see it’s more. I looked him over more closely now.
His dark sun glasses kept his eyes from me, but I could see his skin looked paler then it ever was. His hair seemed darker, and he didn’t have his usual glow. He was still more beautiful than any guy I could ever hope to look at, but he looked like he was tried, sick, or like those girls did when they came off of a date with him or his brothers.
I was jealous of the fact that he still looked beautiful, even when he looked sick, but I found myself worrying over him.
“A pizza,” I said, rubbing Jay’s hand.
Jay looked at me and I knew if he didn’t have the shades on I could see his eyes blazing into me.
“Anything on it?” She asked, staring at Jay.
I told her what I wanted and Jay just nodded his head.
Once she was out of ear shot and I frowned.
“Jay, what’s wrong?” I asked, yet again. “This is more than just Jennifer, isn’t it?”
He stared out the window and frowned.
“I never wished I was human more than right now. I don’t remember being human, so it never really bothered me to take their life-force. But now I wish I could remember so I could feel closer to you.” He said, and then looked back at me. I frowned not understanding. “I haven’t been eating right.”
I was about to ask him, what, when I hit me. He hadn’t been sucking the life from the girls he dated.
“Why not?” I asked, and then bit my bottom lip. I was afraid to meet his eyes.
“Let’s not go into my feelings for you right now.” He let out with a small growl. “It’s taking everything in me not to jump across this table and have my way with you.”
I took in a breath as a picture of Jay doing just that went into my head. I suddenly wondered what it would be like to have his lips on mine to let him do what the girls at our school would scream about.
‘No.’ I yelled in my head. ‘I can’t think about stuff like that.’
“Look, if you’re not eating because of me, then you need to stop.” I told him. “I mean what’s going to happen if you don’t eat?”
I could see that he looked sick, but would there be worst things to come.
“It would be like not drinking water. I would soon die.” He frowned. “I have been taking some of my brothers and sister energy, but it’s not the same. Sharing energy is only used to help us stay alive until we can get our own. I thought I could just take theirs, but my body is slowly breaking down.”
“Why are you starving yourself?”
“Because it’ll feel like I’m cheating.”
I blinked. I wanted to ask ‘on who’, but I knew the answer and knew it would be cruel to ask.
He really was going to kill himself just to be fateful to me, someone he wasn’t even with.
I got up from my seat and sat down next to him in the booth. He stared at me. He looked like he didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t even know what I was doing.
“Jay,” I whispered, it felt like hours went by before I said. “Kiss me.”
I didn’t know where that had come from or even why I was offering up my energy. But it felt right.
“No,” He said, firmly.
“You told me that only if we do it often will it start taking off years from my life.” I said. I also knew if I had sex with him years would be taken off as well. But right now, he needed energy.
‘Why not mine?’ I thought.
“Bonnie, if I ever kissed you often won’t be enough for me.” He whispered, making me shiver.
“Then what are you going to do?” I asked, trying not to think about what he had just said to me.
“Here is your pizza.” The waitress said. “Is there anything else I can get for you?”
I stared at her and smiled.
“No, thank you.” I told her and waited for her to leave.
I saw Jay pick up some of the pizza and began to eat it.
“Does food help?” I asked, hoping it did.
“Yeah, somewhat.” He responded.
I grabbed his hand and started feeling weird that I was being so touchy feely today.
“I don’t want you to die, because of me.” I told him. I moved my hands up to take his sunglasses off and once they were off I almost took in a breath. His eyes looked like clear glass. It looked like I could see right into him. He really wasn’t eating. “Jay, don’t do this.”
“Bonnie,” Jay let out, but I didn’t let him finish.
“Just kiss me damn it!” I yelled, forgetting were I was. I tried to kiss him, but he moved.
“I’m not going to hurt you.”
“You’re not going to kiss me.” I whispered. “You would rather die.”
“Don’t twist my words.” Jay responded. I got up. “Sit back down, Bonnie.”
“Just let me go.” I said, fighting back tears. “Just let me go.”
And he did. He let me go and I ran out the door hitting our waitress, who carried someone else’s pizza, but I didn’t care.
I got into my car and drove off.
The last time he had wanted to kiss me I had been upset, but this time felt different. It felt like there was something else underlining that feeling, something that was deeper than me just wanting to save him.
I wasn’t sure what it was, but it scared me.
But I didn’t let that stop me, I kept driving.
Even when my tears began to fall from my eyes I didn’t stop from trying to get away
from him. I felt like there would never be enough road between us.
I wasn’t even sure where I was going. Home….my sister house….to one of my friends place….I didn’t know. All I knew was I was going to leave him behind.
I kept driving and suddenly a guy appeared in front of my car. I tried to move my car around him only for my car to spin out of control.
I blinked. I was hanging upside down. I wasn’t sure how the car had flipped over or how long I had been in the car, but my head hurt too much to think about it. I went for my seat belt and undid it. I fell hard and cried out. I crawled out of the car and use the car for support to get up.
My hand reached for my cell phone, but before I could get it I felt my body being pushed up against the car.
My eyes went wide as I stared into filmier golden eyes.
“This is going to hurt.” The voice whispered, as I felt a sharp pain in my neck.
As pain ran through my body, and before I could let got to the pain that was trying to overtake me, I saw the golden eyes staring down at me, with enjoyment.
Only one thought went across my mind….Jay.
Chapter 22
Kiss of Death
My head felt like I had been hitting it against a wall several long and hard times. I blinked trying to see my surroundings and push past the pain.
“Looks like someone’s up.” I heard a voice say. The man with the golden eyes stared smugly at me.
“If I could be a pixie for two seconds I would kick your ass!” I shouted, and then felt pain in my head, but fought through it. “But I’m sure Jay will do it for me!”
“I bet he would.” The guy smirked. “But something tells me he won’t be doing any ass kicking.”
“What?” I asked, and then saw him smile. “Do I know you?” He looked filmier, but I just couldn’t place him.
He turned his head to the side making his thick brown hair move. “Don’t remember me, huh? Here I thought you would.”
“I’m sorry; I don’t tend to remember jack-butts.” I winched as pain flow right to my head.
“Easy, dear, you’ll hurt yourself.” He frowned. “We meant at the mansion, the first time you came over Jay’s home.”
“We did?” I asked, trying to remember him. “I don’t remember….” I paused; suddenly a butler filled my head. I remembered him; he had looked at me like he wanted to eat me.
“Patrick,” he said.
“I remember.” I began, confused. “Why are you doing this? Don’t you work for Jay?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “I work for his parents; they made me come here to make sure he stayed out of trouble.”
“You’re doing such a great job.” I replied, with a sarcastic grinned.
“You think…” he laughed and then added, “I’m doing this because his parents are so stupid. They think we can have peace with the fairies. But the fairies just want to control us. I won’t let that happen. I won’t let the king and queen to allow their fear to let us become slaves.”
“What do I have to do with this?” I asked, not understanding why he had taken me.
“You have everything to do with this, Bonnie.” Patrick smirked and walked over to me. “He’s going to need you. Jennifer told us.”
“Need me,” I let out, confused.
He lowered himself to my eye level. “Jennifer was so happy she finally found someone like you.” I blinked and looked away from him not understanding. “Someone who dust couldn’t work on.”
I looked back up at him and frowned. “Dust could work on me, I’m just strong minded.”
“So your friends are weak minded?” He asked, rolling his eyes.
“No,” I replied biting my lip. “They just like… already liked them; I didn’t, so it was easy to use their dust on them.”
“Oh Bonnie,” He smiled. “If dust had worked on you, you would have liked them just like your friends.”
“Why doesn’t it work on me?” I asked. “I’m human,” I said, but it felt like a question.
He smirked and didn’t answer for what seemed like forever. “You’re human, Bonnie. If you weren’t Jennifer would have killed you, most likely.” I blinked, suddenly feeling sick. “Now, Bonnie, let’s take a walk.” He said, pulling me up to my feet.
He led me to a huge dark room with long big windows. The dark night came into the room and made me shiver. Something caught my attention in the middle of the room and I took in a breath.
“Angelica…..Jonathan.” I yelled, trying to pull away from Patrick. They both were sitting on the ground. Nothing was keeping them on the floor, but it looked like they were scared.
How did they get here?
“Bonnie, what are you doing here?” Jonathan asked.
“What do you want with them?” I asked, Patrick, too afraid to answer Jonathan.
“I don’t want anything with them, but I do need them to make sure you listen.”
“What do you want?” I cried, hating myself for pulling them both into this.
He handed me my cell phone. He must have taken it when I was knocked out. “Call Jay and tell him we’re going to kill you unless he comes here.”
“You’re not going to kill me.” I told him, smugly. “You said it yourself, you need me.”
Patrick smirked. “I need you, but not them.”
“What is he talking about, Bonnie?” Ang asked, looking scared.
Patrick snapped his fingers and a guy come out of the shadows and easily picked up Jonathan.
“Let me go.” Jonathan yelled, but before he could even try to get him to let him go, the man snapped his neck. Jonathan lifeless body fell to the ground.
Angelica screamed and I felt tears come into my eyes as my body shook. “Why did you…how could you…?”
“Call,” Patrick said, and I saw the same man go for Angelica.
“I’ll call him just leave her alone, don’t hurt her.” I cried.
“We won’t hurt her.” He replied. “If you tell him what I said.”
He loosened the chains on my hands and I took the cell from him, shaking. As I went to dial his number I glared at him. It didn’t even ring all the way before Jay picked up the phone.
“Bonnie,” He began his voice sounding as if he was worried about me. “Are you okay? I’m outside your house, but you’re not here? I have been waiting for you to come home. I know you want some space, but just let me explain.”
I watched Patrick face as he eyed me. “I was in an accident,” I began, and then heard the sound of a car engine.
“Where are you?” He asked. Tears began to fall down my face. I was about send Jay to his death to save my best friend. Jay had always tried to protect me, been there for me, yet I was going to get him killed. “Bonnie?” He called out.
I just couldn’t do it.
“Patrick’s going to kill Angelica if you don’t come-” I began before Patrick snatched the cell from my hand.
“I’m going to kill Bonnie.” Patrick said. “Angelica is already died. Come alone or she dies.” He hung up the phone and he grabbed my arm, tightly.
“Ahhh,” I cried out as he held on tighter.
“You know I would hate to be your friend.” Patrick begun and shook his head. “I told you to tell him one thing, yet you didn’t. I guess I know who you care more about.”
Patrick nodded his head and the other pixies in the room began to surround Ang.
“Leave her alone.” I yelled. “I’ll kill myself if you hurt her! Then you won’t be able to use me.”
He began to laugh. “I’ll stop you before you even try.”
“You can’t watch me forever.” I snapped.
Patrick raised an eye-brow. “You don’t have the guts.”
“Try me.”
Only a moment passed before he frowned.
“Damn, don’t kill the bitch.” Patrick said, and then smiled. “But fuck her up a bit. That’ll teach you to try to outsmart me.”
“Don’t you….”

; “If you kill yourself she dies.” Patrick said, pulling me out of the open space. “I think you would rather have a hurt friend, then a dead one.”
Before we left the room I heard Angelica’s cries.
By the time we were both inside the room we were in before my face was stained in tears.
“I hope Jay kills you slowly.” I said. I could still hear Angelica’s cries ringing in my ears.
“Well, yeah, he may if he catches up with me.” He laughed, halfheartedly.
“Patrick, Jay’s almost here,” A guy yelled running in to the room with a few other guys. “He’s alone just like you told him.”
I noticed I knew a few of them…Matt, James, and Sam, the same pixies that had tried to kill me before.
“Jay’s almost here. That was pretty fast, figures.” He said, staring at me. “You guys go circle the place and make sure he is really alone. Sam you watch Bonnie, while I greet our guest.”
I watched them leave and then turned my eyes to Sam. She was biting her lower lip and wasn’t even looking at me.
“You’re such a bitch.” I said, as I tried to move my hands. The chain was too tight.
“I know,” She laughed without any humor. “If I don’t do this Jennifer will kill my friend.” I stared at her not knowing if I should care or not.
“That still doesn’t mean you should do this.”
“Your being a hypocrite,” She yelled and walked over to me. “You just did the same thing to Jay and you know him a whole lot better than I know you.”
“No, I didn’t….” I began then I thought about it. I called him to his death just to save my friend. “It wasn’t like that.” I cried.
“Yeah, I believe you.” She frowned and I honestly believed she did. “And I’m sorry I am doing this. You seem nice and all, but I can’t let him die.”
I shook my head. “So now Jay is going to die.”
“Maybe or maybe not,” She frowned.
I blinked. “Why is Jennifer doing this?”
“Because he wants her too.”
“He meaning….”
“Derek.”
“So, he’s alive.” I whispered, now knowing Leon’s theory was true. “He wants the Four Gods power.”
“Yes, but he will want you as well.” She said.
“Why me?” I frowned not understanding.
