A man sat down across from him, his attention clearly focused on Ean. He tried to ignore the man's gaze but its intensity finally made him look up. The man gave a slight grin as their eyes met.
"Hello, Ean. It’s been a long time."
The voice was familiar but the young man, close to Ean's age in appearance, was not.
"Sorry. Do I know you?"
"Of course." The man grinned. It held nothing but malice behind those pearly white teeth. "Although I look a bit different from the last time we met. When I took your Yulari's wings."
No . . .
"It’s your old friend," the man continued, "Sadiek. I've been looking for you."

James R. Vernon was born and lives on the planet Earth. He holds a degree in education, which has zero influence on his writing.
