“Thank you, Reverent Knight. It means a great deal to me to have your promise. I spent centuries living my life according to her rules and dictates. In the end, she was nearly capable of destroying the life I am building with my mate. I cannot deny that I want justice, but I intend to spend no more of my life worrying over Latarian. However, if I can assist the fallen knights in any way to enable her capture, please know that I will help in any way that I can,” Dra’Kaedan replied and shook the hand of the fierce protector of their council. Dra’Kaedan’s mate shook his hand as well and while Dra’Kaedan was content to simply stop worrying over Latarian, he knew Brogan would not ever be satisfied until she paid the ultimate price for the crimes she had committed. The Reverent Knight’s reassurance that the matter would not rest had to be music to Brogan’s ears.

The emperor then garnered their attention to remind them that he wanted them to drop his title when they were alone, and Drystan asked them to do the same with him. After a few minutes of small talk, the leaders left them and the D’Vaires went home, excited about the day’s events.

Dra’Kaedan and Brogan headed straight for their bedroom to get out of their suits and before Dra’Kaedan could even wrangle off his tie Aleksander banged on the bedroom door to tell them that Drystan had called, and his son had not hesitated to accept the offer and would be joining them on the weekend. Brogan beamed a gorgeous smile at him and Dra’Kaedan ran towards him to give him a smacking kiss. Dra’Kaedan’s Coven was officially the Council of Sorcery and Shifter’s newest sanctuary.

  Chapter 28

Saturday morning Brogan was lying on his side in the big bed he shared with his warlock and pressing little kisses to his mate’s back. They had made hot sweaty love that morning, and Dra’Kaedan was still sprawled out on his belly. Brogan was enjoying the quiet time with him and ran his hand down the smooth skin of his lover’s back, when someone knocked on their bedroom door. Dropping another kiss near Dra’Kaedan’s spine they both ignored whoever wanted to interrupt their interlude.

He was busy covering Dra’Kaedan’s round ass with kisses when there was a second knock. Actually it was more of a banging, and Dra’Kaedan let out a bellow. “Go away!”

Brogan gave his mate’s bottom a light smack at his rudeness and his mate let out a little moan. “Why does that turn me on?” Dra’Kaedan grumbled into the mattress.

“It does? Well, maybe we should-”

Before Brogan could finish his suggestion that they explore Dra’Kaedan’s need for a spanking, the door was again pounded on again. Dra’Kaedan let out another roar. “Who the hell is it?”

“Good morning. It’s Renny,” Dra’Kaedan’s familiar yelled cheerfully through the door.

  “Come back later, we’re busy.”

“Well, if you are doing what I think you are doing I’ll just wait, it never takes you guys longer than five or ten minutes to have sex.” He heard his mate grumble something about killing the brat at the door before he scrambled over Brogan, waved his hand over himself to clothe himself in his pajamas, and strode over to the door to whip it open.

“What do you want, Renny?” Dra’Kaedan snarled into his familiar’s face, but Renny was apparently immune to his mate’s fury, because he sashayed into the room and offered Brogan a little wave.

“Hi Brogan,” the little familiar said and Brogan was glad he had pulled the sheet over himself while his mate had been stomping across their room.

  “Hey Renny, what’s up?”

“Oh, Aleksander asked me to let you guys know that Drystan called. He is going to be here with his son in like fifteen or twenty minutes,” Renny explained.

“You couldn’t just say that through the door?” Dra’Kaedan demanded from where he still standing at the door.

“He said to make sure you guys knew, so I thought it was a good idea to make sure I could see you guys when I told you. He wants you guys to be there when he arrives.”

“Well, thanks for letting us know Renny. You can let Aleksander know that we’ll be there in time for their arrival,” Brogan said, and Dra’Kaedan’s familiar gave him a bright smile.

“Cool,” Renny exclaimed, but made no move to leave the room.

“We could use some time alone now to get ready,” Dra’Kaedan told their visitor.

“Oh sure, if you take a quick shower you probably still have time to have that sex you guys wanted,” Renny replied as he walked towards the door.

“Thanks for the advice,” his mate said dryly, as he shut the door behind his familiar’s back.

They decided not to take Renny’s recommendation to have a quickie and headed straight for the shower to get cleaned up. Neither one of them wanted to miss the arrival of their guests, so they did their best to keep their hands to themselves and only kissed about a dozen times under the hot spray of the shower head. After dressing, they headed for the living room to find the whole family already waiting for their newest addition and his father. Brogan sat down on the sofa next to Dre’Kariston and pulled Dra’Kaedan onto his lap, while his mate offered Renny a glare that was returned with a guileless smile.

He was dropping a kiss on Dra’Kaedan’s head after grinning at Renny when he heard the doorbell ring. Dra’Kaedan hopped off his lap, and the entire family went charging towards the entryway. Stopping next to his mate, he watched as Aleksander opened the door to reveal Drystan and his son. The Reverent Knight’s son had brown hair cut short in the back but hung straight and a bit messily over his forehead. Behind a pair of wire-rimmed glasses, his eyes were a clear sky blue. He was tall and lanky, like his father, who stood at just an inch or two below Brogan’s height of 6’5”. The fallen knight and necromancer hybrid wore jeans and a light colored T-shirt and had what appeared to be a full backpack strapped to him.

“Everyone, this is my son Trystan,” Reverent Knight Drystan offered and Aleksander shook the hand of the newest D’Vaire.

“Trystan, welcome to Court D’Vaire and to Dra’Kaedan’s Coven,” their king said with a smile.

“Thanks so much,” Trystan said and then walked right up to Blodwen. He offered his hand to her while Blodwen stared at him bug-eyed. Smiling brightly at her, Blodwen took Trystan’s hand, but instead of shaking it as Brogan expected he clasped it and brought their joined hands to his side. Then he leaned forward to kiss her cheek.

“You must be Blodwen. I’m so glad you are my mate,” he said to her and before Brogan could so much as blink Dra’Kaedan smacked his arm.

Brogan looked down at his own mate with a look of surprise. “What the hell?”

“You see that? That is how you greet your mate,” his annoyed mate told him. Grinning, Brogan pulled Dra’Kaedan into his arms and looked down to meet his beautiful dark blue eyes. Their relationship may have started off horribly wrong, but the future was full of nothing but hope and love. Brogan looked forward to what Fate had in store for not only for him and Dra’Kaedan, but for what awaited all of their family.
