“Hey, handsome, looking for a good time?” she murmured, greeting him with a kiss that brought catcalls from the diners.
“Always.” He kept his hands on her waist. “I can’t believe she can sleep through all this.”
“Are you kidding, she loves it.” She took his hand. “How’s Brad working out?” she asked about the new doctor.
“Just fine. With luck, I have the next thirty-six hours free.”
Cori kept walking until they reached the rear door and outside. She spun Ben around until his back was to the building and leaned into his embrace.
“I am so glad to hear that,” she said throatily. “Because your mother is desperate to have her newest grandchild to herself and I think that would be a nice idea, don’t you? For her sake, of course.”
His lips curved upward. “Of course.”
Their mouths met hungrily as they took advantage of a rare moment alone. With a new baby, the building of the hospital and Cori’s work on the diner, time wasn’t always on their side, but they always seemed to manage.
Pretty soon, Ben’s shirt was unbuttoned to reveal his bare chest with Cori nibbling on one of his nipples while his hands were busy under her sweater. They were breathing hard and had the awareness they would soon have to stop before they reached the point of no return.
“Home in five seconds?” he asked in a raw voice.
“You got it,” she said huskily, fingering his belt buckle.
“I swear I’m going to have to throw a bucket of cold water on you two. Don’t you ever stop?” Andy asked as he rounded the corner.
Ben and Cori smiled at each other, then simultaneously replied, “Never.”
