Oceans Submerged: Book Two, the Oceans Series
Page 19
Layla stepped forward, coming around me holding me against her while Ocean continued to hold on to my hand.
“Livie Marie Ac—Hawthorne.” he said with a wicked smile.
That got chuckles from everyone.
“With this promise ring, I promise to love you through our good and our bad, support you in all of your choices, red highlights and all.” He said with a wink.
“I promise to be as honest and true to you as humanly possible and I promise to work on being a better man for you until I’m able to get down on my knee again to ask you to marry me. Officially! In return Livie, all I ask is that you love me and never give up on me, baby. If you’ll let me promise these things and more…and if you’re able to love me without giving up when I make mistakes and don’t get things right, can I please place this ring on your finger?”
I looked around the room to meet tear filled eyes and faces. Law was holding onto Dulce like his heart was breaking and she was keeping the pieces together. Ocean’s father was crying with a prideful and honest look on his face. I turned to Layla, whose mascara was running. She kissed my cheek and let me go, reaching out for her son who welcomed her back underneath his arm.
I looked down at Ocean, my Ocean; the Ocean that pulled me in when I couldn’t swim any longer on my own. The same Ocean that dragged me out of deep and cold waters to a safe shore where I could breath and where I could survive.
I reached down wiping his tears with my free hand and answered him. “Ocean Grant, pain in my ass, Hawthorne…”
He laughed nervously as he waited.
“I would be honored to accept the promises you’ve already made, are willing to make, and will make to me. I will always love you unconditionally without ever giving up on you. Ever!”
He cleared his throat from the emotions coursing through him.
“Ocean. Please put your ring on my finger.”
He took the ring out of the box tossing it to the ground, and slid it down my ring finger. A sting of electricity shot up my finger all the way to my heart and he smiled knowing that I could feel his touch now.
He stood up, picking me up off the floor, twirling me around, and when he placed my feet back on the ground, he kissed me with a passion that shattered every other kiss we have ever had.
Whistles, clapping of hands and whoops surround us as everyone came in to congratulate and hug us.
Ocean never let go of me as he hugged his new friends even when his father tried to take me away by sweeping me up into a huge bear hug. He refused to let go of me and it warmed my soul to know that he was going to hold on to me forever this way.
Wine glasses filled with champagne were passed around while Law said a heartwarming toast to us.
Ocean hugged me tighter into his chest. “Thank you Mrs. Hawthorne, I know it wasn’t a wedding proposal but you are my everything…my friend, my love, my wife, and my universe. You’re all that to me already.”
“I know that, now kiss me Romeo.”
“Fuck yeah, Juliet.”
He shoved his tongue into my mouth as more hollers broke out in the room. There was a knock and then the doorbell rung at the front door.
Quickly he pulled away tugging me along with him.
“We’ll get it!” he shouted as he grabbed me by my ass.
Everyone broke out into laughter as all kinds of sexual jokes and comments were being made about us. The doorbell rang again.
Before he bothered to open it, he pushed me up against the wall, kissing me fiercely. I sucked the champagne on his tongue as he moaned into my mouth.
Again, the bell sounded and I pushed him away without really wanting to.
“Open the door.” I said in between his tongue slipping in and out of my mouth.
He pulled away sucking his teeth, pissed he had to stop. “If it’s a fucking pool service I’m going off!”
I laughed hysterically as he opened the door.
Facing us was a woman. She was an older woman with the same warm brown eyes as Ocean. I looked at Ocean to see his face was pale and his eyes were angry.
The wine glass in his hand fell, smashing to the floor and I instantly started to panic. The woman looked painfully at him but what was disturbing to me was the fact that she was rocking a very huge baby bump.
The woman was pregnant!
Anger replaced his happiness as he choked out one word.
“Mom?”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Melissa DeOlmos, an aspiring author and a newbie to the world of indie writing. I live in sunny side Palm Bay, Florida with my two lovely crazies ages five and two, along with my Law Enforcement champ of a husband.
I could say that writing novels has been a passion that I’ve always pursued, but I can’t. Writing for me has always been my own secret escape into a land of wonders and opportunities. Filled with love and so much trouble, I sometimes wonder if I need medication for the stories that pop into my head.
I have now decided to share my mystical mind and stories with the world so, hopefully, others may also find that little something extra they’ve been looking for within my stories. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my books.
