“If you bite me, little girl, you will be extremely sorry.” As he spoke, his dick grew more and more erect and I couldn’t help the smirk that twisted my lips.

  “I thought you enjoyed, biting—Daddy.”

John burst into laughter. “She’s got you there, Stefan.”

Stefan’s face darkened and my pulse accelerated as I realized my mistake. Or was it? Stefan hid his feelings very well when he wanted to. I had not a clue what went on in his twisted mind.

He cleared his throat, one finger stroking his chin as he stared down at me, his eyes darting from his engorged cock to my sealed lips and back again.

“Do it then, if you want.”

What the hell did that mean? He lifted his cock and pressed it against my mouth until I relented and parted my lips. I almost choked on the monster and he pulled out a little but the girth of the beast still filled my mouth. I slid my tongue over those ridges of harder skin, amazed that it didn’t repulse me. On the contrary, I cherished the feel of his ribbed cock, both on my tongue and plunging in my pussy.

“Go ahead Dumplin. Bite me.” I didn’t really want that, but since he insisted, I clamped my teeth onto the head of his massive cock. He moaned in apparent pleasure. So, I bit down harder this time and tasted his sweet blood as I broke the skin. Immediately, my mouth began to burn. I flailed underneath him, pleading with my eyes for him to back off. My mouth was on fire and the thick, saccharine blood flooded onto my tongue. Tears poured from my eyes, running in rivulets into my hair and onto the pillow.

Stefan moved in slow motion, sliding his cock out of my mouth and gripping the bleeding wound in his palm as he settled himself next to me.

“Had enough?” His voice so soft and concerned, but the calm words didn’t help put out the terrible fire in my mouth. I shook my head, the tears still streaming down the sides of my face.

“John, will you bring us a glass of water, please?” John nodded and left the room, returning in only moments with a tall glass of water, complete with more ice cubes. He held it out to me, but with my hands bound, I could only stare with longing at the droplets of condensation on the outside of the glass.

“Oh, I should release your hands, huh?” Stefan leaned over me to the nightstand and retrieved the key. He unlocked both of my hands and I sat up, almost knocking the glass out of John’s hand in my haste. The water quenched the fire on my tongue but the sugary sweet taste remained to taunt me.

One thing about Stefan that I could count on—he always told the truth. He told me I would be sorry if I bit him and he was one hundred percent correct, damn his gorgeous hide. So now I knew, Elite blood will burn a human and burn badly. I could only imagine what a huge draught would do, maybe even kill me.

“You are very correct about that, Dumplin. Elite blood is dangerous for you and your kind. Enough Elite blood in a human’s veins will kill him in a horribly painful manner and I am embarrassed to say that there are members of the Elite that use that as a torture routine.”

I gulped, staring at Stefan as if he just sprouted horns and a tail. Not only because he had been in my head again, but the idea of anyone doing that to another being—how could they be so cruel? But he didn’t say that he tortured humans. I couldn’t imagine either one of my Elite guys doing something so dastardly. Stefan’s idea of torture was another thing all together and that kind of torture anyone would love to endure.

It dawned on me as I stared from Stefan, here next to me, and my precious Sheriff John as he hovered at the end of the bed, that I had no idea what the future held for me. The only thing that I knew with certainty was they both wanted me alive, and full of blood. I also knew without a doubt that I didn’t want to meet any of the other members of the Elite.

Stefan patted my hand and slid off the bed. My eyes drawn to his nice glutes, as he left the room, his stride determined and as powerful as I knew him to be in many ways. Switching my gaze to John, his knowing smirk embarrassed me but then I averted my eyes—down to his groin. Why did I have to behave like such a total tramp?

He laughed, then turned to go to the bathroom. Of course I watched his cute little butt as he walked away too. Any gal would consider herself lucky to have these two handsome guys in her bed. If only they were human.

Reality blurred before my eyes. Hard to remember how long I had been in this house. Only two nights? It seemed more like two months. I reached to untie my ankles before one of them decided that I needed more punishment. What I really needed was to escape this house and their clutches. I rolled off the bed and found John’s shirt on the floor. Slipping it over my shoulders, I padded to the window and pulled the blinds open. Dawn couldn’t be that far off though I could see no signs of it out this window.

I didn’t hear him approach but I felt his heat against my back. His breath stirred the hair on the back of my neck.

“I’ll get you some clothes tomorrow night unless you prefer walking around in my shirts.” His deep voice right by my ear made goosebumps race down my arms and legs. I thought I might faint when he put his arms around me, and pulled me close to rest his chin on top of my head. I took several deep breaths to calm my heart enough to answer him.

“Please, yes, I would like some clothing of my own. I have some, at my house.”

“Now, you know I can’t get your clothes from your house. Do you think your family would just stand by while I waltz in and pack a bag for you? I just don’t think it would work.”

Oh yeah, I would love to see that—John waltzing.

“I’ll go see Stefan out and then I suppose I should clean up that mess in the bathroom. Not even I enjoy looking at that blood spattered everywhere.”

John turned me in his arms so he could see my face. His tender look twisted my heart into a swollen knot of doubt. I wished he would not look at me like that. So hard to resist him when he does.

“I’m sorry you had to go through the ordeal with the rogue. It should not have happened and I’ll see that nobody ever touches you again.”

Well that did it. I threw my arms around him and hugged him so tight he gasped for air. This man kidnapped me, violated my virgin ass and fed off me and yet, my affection for him would not stop growing. Maybe he didn’t deserve it, but then again, he could very well have just thrown me into jail for being out past curfew in the first place. He could also have let me fall to my death when I ran from him. I couldn’t decide how to feel about him; I just knew I liked him—a lot.

He endured my hug for a moment before he eased me away from him so he could look into my face again. I saw the odd look, his brows drawn together, his lips in a taut line without his usual half grin.

“I don’t quite know what to think about you, Sandy.” So serious, his expression. The first tremors of anxiety rushed through my veins.

Stefan coughed in the other room. John stepped away and spun about to go to his lover. I started to follow, but he closed the door behind him, shutting me in with a finality that turned my stomach into a broiling percolator.

Flopping down on the bed, I noticed the nightstand drawer stood open and I couldn’t resist a peek inside. Several pairs of handcuffs lay in a jumble at the top of his drawer. I thought briefly of removing them and hiding them somewhere so that they could not be used on me again but no, I enjoyed them more than I wanted to admit even to myself. Moving them to the side of the drawer, I saw a partially squeezed tube of lubricant, and then a portable phone. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Hands shaking, I picked up the phone and pressed the talk button. I heard the dial tone and in my excitement, dropped the phone on the floor. It bounced under the bed and I had to squirm to reach it. My fingers didn’t want to cooperate with me as I tried to retrieve it before John returned. I knew he would be pissed and probably kill me for using it. He should’ve hidden it better.

Finally I managed to get the phone out from under the bed and put it to my ear. No tone there.

“Dammit.” I pressed the talk button again and still heard nothin
g. My heart raced and I suddenly needed to pee really bad. John could walk in at any moment. I pressed the button once more and the dial tone returned. Glancing toward the door, I watched the knob, praying that it would not turn.

I dialed home. My sister answered on the first ring.

“Hello?” Her voice practically jumped through the line at me.

  “Angie? It’s me, Sandy.”

“Sandy. Hey, we were just talking about you. Guess what just arrived? You’ll never guess.”

My gosh, she wasn’t even concerned about my absence. Before I could mention that fact, she started talking again, her excitement making her voice shrill. I had to move the phone away from my ear.

“We just got a delivery…and it’s a check for $10,000.” Angie burst into peals of giggles and I heard my other sisters laughing in the background too.

“Angie. Stop giggling and talk to me. Angie, whose name is on that check?”

My own voice echoed back to me. The line had just gone dead. At that moment, the doorknob turned and before I could get the phone back in the drawer, John stormed into the room.

  Oh hell.

  THIRTEEN

My mouth seemed frozen into a grimace though I wanted so badly to smile and look innocent. I couldn’t get my lips to lift at the corners. John advanced on me. I dropped the phone and jumped to my feet. I dove across the bed but he beat me to the other side and stood there with his arms crossed in front of his chest. Even standing there in his underwear, his powerful aura overwhelmed me.

On my hands and knees, I crawfished back across the bed, away from him. This time, he didn’t move but just stood there glaring, making me feel like the worst felon when all I did was make a simple phone call. Hell, what did he plan to do, murder me?

No, I doubted it. Why waste all that blood he just gave me?

“I didn’t say anything about you, John.” To my surprise, my voice held more confidence than I actually felt. Inside, my guts rebelled, screaming to be released from the tangle of anxiety he caused just by his presence.

He didn’t say a word, but with slow steps, he came around the bed again, bent over to pick up the phone and put it back in the drawer. He didn’t let his gaze drift from my face until he turned to go into the bathroom, leaving me squatting on the bed, my mouth hanging open in amazement.

Music came blaring out of the bathroom. I almost choked on my own saliva when I heard the tune, “Bad Mood Rising,” and John singing along with the song. His rich voice careened off the tile and floated to me on a blanket of normalcy that wrapped around my soul and pulled me, without pause, into his reality.

I followed his sensuous pied piper tune into the powder room. He bent over the tub, scrubbing the blood off the tile. So why did this man have to parade around in his underwear? I stood behind him, watching the tiny handcuffs printed on his boxers slide across his rounded butt cheeks. Oh my, no wonder Stefan wanted to keep John to himself.

“Do you feel up to helping me clean?” His question jolted me out of my ass-watching stupor. He glanced over his shoulder and saw me staring. “Do you like these underpants? I know how much you like handcuffs.” His suggestive sneer made me sick to my stomach and I had no quick witty comeback for him. I’d have to work on that.

“Yes, your little cop panties are cute. I want some like them.”

He snorted and turned around to sit on the edge of the tub facing me, his face now even with mine. Those golden eyes danced with mirth, the lighter flecks of gold flashing through them, dazzling me.

“Well, you certainly look, um… appetizing in my clothes.” His lecherous gaze traveled over my breasts jutting out of his shirt front. Then his eyes roved down to my bare legs, and back up to my now burning face. Around John and Stefan it seemed that my face remained ablaze just about all the time.

“And, for your information, men don’t wear panties. Well, at least none of the men in my circle. That must be a human trait.”

I chose not to respond since it didn’t seem I could ever win in a verbal battle with him. I looked over him to see the blood spatter, half-cleaned and smeared into the tub. How close I had been to death, once again.

“John, where is the rogue?” I had no idea what he did with the body of that creep and the thought had only just now occurred to me that something had to be done.

“Stefan took care of that inconvenience for us.” Hmm. I wondered again what Stefan did for a living. How did he make so much money that he could send my family that huge check for a simple bottle of sunscreen? I knew it came from him. I didn’t need Angie to tell me the name on the check. If he took care of that body, perhaps he belonged to some organized crime group. I could picture Stefan as a wise guy.

“What does Stefan do?” I couldn’t stop myself. I had to ask.

His eyebrows high and arched, John grinned, then answered me. “Do? To whom?”

I reached to shove him into the tub, but he anticipated my reaction, leapt to his feet and avoided my push with dizzying ease. John moved like prisms of light reflecting off the water. I felt like a big slug compared to him. Did I leave a slimy trail everywhere I went?

“John.” I yelped when he goosed me, jabbing his fingers in my ribs. Then, he skipped away, laughing. He had every reason in the world to be happy. He was not someone else’s feeder. Me, I couldn’t forget that simple fact no matter how hard I tried.

I stomped away from him, ignoring his teasing look. He caught me, his hand on my arm and I pulled, trying to get out of his grip. He tightened his fingers on my bicep until I knew it would bruise. I gave up and relaxed since he didn’t appear to be letting go.

“Come on Sandy, lighten up. It’s not all that bad here.” Again he embraced me from behind as if he knew how much I liked his muscular chest pressing against my back. I inhaled his sweet scent and my pulse accelerated. Damn him to the bowels of hell. I leaned my head back, resting it on his shoulder. I could fall in love with this member of the Elite and the thought terrified me.

“What will happen to me, John?” He stiffened when he heard my quivering, miserable question. I thought he would leave me then, but he didn’t. Instead, he held me tighter, his powerful arms wrapped all the way around my trembling body. He sent the cool mist to calm me. I felt those chilly tendrils as they wound themselves into my psyche, taking away my apprehension with the same ease he exhibited on the physical plain.

“Stop upsetting yourself, woman. You’ll be fine.” He hummed to himself and it took me a moment to realize that he still had the “Bad Mood Rising” song in his head. I wonder if he knew that the words to that song didn’t bode well for me…its bound to take your life…

No matter, my frozen senses felt no fear. Too numb to worry about anything now, I allowed John to lead me back to the bed and I crawled in, covering myself with the damp comforter. I should care about the wet spots in the bed, knowing well how they got there, but I didn’t. Too tired to mind. All I wanted was sleep. Ah, John’s hands tucking me in, smoothing the hair away from my face. I love his hands.

  * * * *

I closed my eyes and fell headfirst into naughty dreams of handcuffs and faceless powerful men holding me down, rubbing their cocks on me and taunting me with their hidden identities. Someone shook my shoulders, harder and harder still and yelled my name.

“Sandy. Wake up, now.” John’s voice, not a dream, real tension and real pressure on my shoulders as he shook me.

“Come on, get up. They’re here to take you away from me.” He yanked me out of the bed by one arm then threw me over his shoulder and ran though the dark house toward the kitchen. I heard the din at the front door then, hammering fists beating at the wood and bellowing John’s name.

“Open up, Mironescu.” John made it to the kitchen in a flash, yanked the lock open and tore into the yard just as several dark figures rounded the house. Bright sunlight filled the yard and yet these members of the Elite braved the sun with large brimmed hats and sunglasses to protect their faces. John hesitated a mom
ent, looking over his shoulder at them, then he ran toward the woods. The scenery blurred before my eyes. Like flying. That’s how fast he moved.

“Stop John.” I heard the command over the rush of air in my ears. “She’s just a feeder.” The voices of those following sounded more faint now as we entered the woods. I vacillated between giddiness as John tried to save me, and terror that he would fail.

We reached the same cliff where my sheriff found me hanging by my wrists after my escape attempt. He followed the edge of the cliff to a narrow path, then he darted down the side of the rocky mountain. I bounced on his shoulder as he wound his way down to the valley below. My stomach throbbed with pain. John stopped and allowed me to slide down to my own feet. I stared up at him watching his eyes dart about, his anxiety obvious.

I started to speak, but he stopped me with a quick finger on my lips and a shake of his head. He still wore only his boxers so his kindred interrupted his day’s sleep too. Blood. His feet bled and every step he took, he left a bloody footprint. John noticed my horrified expression and glanced at the ground.

“Oh no.” His whisper stopped my heart. The Elite mob would track him with ease now.

“I’m sorry, Sandy. Go hide.” John pushed me toward the wooded area. “Run, Sandy. Find the caves that riddle this part of the mountainside and hide deep inside.” He pushed me again, harder this time and with a whirl of his head, he vanished from my sight.

Alone. Terror choked off my breath. My heartbeat thundered in my ears, a tribal drumbeat that grew louder and louder still as I stood staring at John’s fading crimson footprint in the dirt.

“Run, now damn it.” His voice echoed inside my head. My legs broke free of the invisible chains and I stumbled toward the woods and the rocky crag jutting out in the distance. My bare feet hurt but I ran, ignoring the pain. Sore feet beat the hell out of dying. I heard nobody chasing me but taking no chances, I kept up my quick pace. The vampires had speed I could only dream of. Surprising that they hadn’t caught me yet. Maybe John distracted them from their pursuit.
