I sat on the bed and stared at the TV blankly as I heard Nick move around in the bathroom.

Nick walked back into the bedroom smiling looking at his phone and said, "Sam just texted me that he almost had a heart attack on his first date, in a good way.”

"I know why,” I said winking at him.

"You told Rhea to wear a Sari to their first date?” Nick asked in a stunned voice.

I nodded smiling and Nick laughed, “How did you know it would work? It's a pretty bold move for a first date.”

"Not really. The sari thing worked on you,” I teased.

"Oh yes, it did,” he said laughing getting into bed next to me.

"I feel like I have Sam back in my life. Ann and I were always close, but Sam and I never connected at that level and for him to tell me about his first date while he is on the date is huge,” Nick said looking at the ceiling and added looking at me, "I wonder who I need to thank for that.”

"You don't need to thank anybody yet. Thank me when Sam is ready to propose to Rhea," I said confidently.

"I sense some over confidence here. My brother doesn't fall for just anybody. Rhea is nice, but I need to make sure she is the best for Sam especially after the recent episode,” Nick said in a calm voice.

"How about a friendly competition then?” I said winking at him and said, "Let's see who amongst Rhea and Sam confesses first to us about loving the other person.”

"Really? You have no idea who you are dealing with and if you haven't noticed, Bhatia guys are charmers including the five-year old that told you that you looked like a princess on our wedding day,” Nick challenged.

"Really, I don't remember trying too hard to get you,” I mocked.

Nick laughed and said, "I was yours already and all you had to do was look at me," and added, "Oh, and let me remind you that you were the first one to express your love even though I fell for you first.”

“You almost went first with both, Nick,” I said giggling and teased running my fingertip on his clean-shaven chiseled jawline, “Remember in the shower…”

Nick’s eyes clouded with desire as he smiled at the memory. He took my hand into his and took my palm to his lips. He started a trail of kisses from my fingertip and slowly moved towards my neck. He lingered on my neck and mumbled, “How could I forget that shower? It was mind blowing.”

I quivered internally at the raw intensity in his voice and taunted, “Better than our most recent shower experiences?”

“Are you kidding me? The first time is always the best,” he said lowering me to the bed. The anklets on my feet jingled when I moved my legs, and he groaned as he brought his lips to mine.

“I hate those anklets, they drive me nuts,” he rasped against my lips.

“You were the one who got them for me,” I teased, as I slowly ran my tongue inside his mouth and added, “You are a real charmer Nikhil Bhatia to have thought about buying me anklets instead of the mundane things.”

His breath hissed against my cheeks and I pushed him back on to the bed and provoked him, “What if I had tied you up like I said I would to shave your beard, do you think you can still entice me with your charm?”

He moaned throwing his head back as I ran my fingertips over his chest massaging him gently. I ran my thumb gently around his nipple taking my tongue to it and teased it.

“Meera,” he groaned reaching out to put his arms around me.

“No hands,” I giggled against his chest.

“Challenge accepted, my love,” Nick said in a raging voice getting up to kneel on the bed and brought his lips to mine. I knew how driven he was by desire, but I could tell that he was holding back his urge as he gently brushed my lips with his and took his time to nip on my lower lip. He rhythmically pulled on my lips and came back to tease my lips with the tip of his tongue.

“Nick, what are you doing?” I said impatiently as I felt the need inside me surge out of control.

“Isn’t this what you wanted, baby?” Nick asked with an evil smile on his face.

“No, you are not giving me what I want,” I moaned pushing my chest against him and gasped as he dug his teeth into my neck, “Yes, I want you to eat me.”

Nick chuckled against my neck and said, “These are your rules, and I do what I can do without my hands at play.”

“Forget what I said, I want your arms around me,” I demanded looking into his eyes.

Nick laughed and said, “You want the taste of it and then you are too impatient. The wait will make it sweeter, trust me.”

“I can’t wait,” I moaned as he ran his lips down my chest to my waist chain.

“Will you need a new waist chain when the babies get bigger?” He said running his tongue along the metallic chain. I groaned as he took his lips lower to my undergarment. I fully expected and hoped he would pull my undergarment with his teeth and braced myself for the feel of his teeth tugging on the delicate material. I waited patiently as he grazed over the fabric, and then I felt the moisture--the moisture from his tongue as it teased my clit through the thin material of my undergarment. I arched my back and threw my head back as he continued teasing me with his tongue through the sheer fabric.

“Nick, I can’t take it anymore, I want you,” I said pushing down my undergarment.

Nick came up to kiss me and said, “Your wish is my command, baby.” My body quivered as he entered with the rage he was holding back and took me on a voyage of deep pleasure powered by his passionate lovemaking. I moaned against his lips when I peaked and felt him collapse on top of me as if he lost all control of his being.

“I love you, Meera,” he said gasping for air as he rolled to his side to get his weight off me.

I smiled at him planting a kiss on his lips and said, “My heart runs to the mountains every time you say that.”

Nick ran his palm gently on my belly that would start showing the life growing inside me very soon and said, “Show me how to love you a little bit more every day.”

I smiled and put my arms around him and said, “You love me enough for a lifetime and a little more.”

  Chapter Thirty-Seven

“Do you really want to find out?” I asked Nick as he helped me out of the back seat of the Range Rover.

“Yes, everybody wants to, so does Mitch,” Nick said smiling at Mitch.

“Okay,” I said and ran my palm over my bump. At sixteen weeks, I was bigger than normal with twins on the way.

I followed Nick into the lobby and looked in surprise as I saw every one of my family members in the lobby.

I put my palm over my mouth, squeaked in joy, and went to hug my mom and stepdad, as I was most surprised to see them.

“Let’s go. I can’t wait to find out if you guys are going to have boys or girls or both,” Ann cheered. Ann and Paul were overjoyed to find out they were expecting a boy and that the baby was hale and hearty.

“We are doomed if we have three boys in the house. I had a tough time dealing with two,” Ann said smiling at Sam and Nick.

“I am not bringing my hopes up with our family history, but I will be thrilled if one of the twins is a girl,” Nick said putting an arm around his sister.

The family waited in the lobby impatiently as Nick and I were directed to a room for my ultrasound.

“Nick, remember, we want healthy babies,” I said holding his hand.

“I know, I know, but one boy and one girl will be just perfect,” Nick beamed.

The technician was very indifferent to our excitement and did her job of taking the readings that she needed to for her report.

Her face finally broke into a smile and said, “The babies are very healthy. I will send the information to your OB/GYN, and she will give you more details,” and added with a twinkle in her eye and asked, “So, do you guys want to find out the gender of the babies?”

“Yes,” Nick said without hesitation looking at me and added burying his face in his hands, “Please tell me we are going to have a girl.”

sp; The technician smiled and said, “Mr. Bhatia, please look at the screen.”

Nick looked at the screen that showed blobs of gray and the technician said, “Please say hi to your two beautiful daughters.”

“What? Two girls?” he asked in disbelief, and I watched him jump up victoriously and hug the technician.

“Nick, go tell everyone, and I will be right out,” I said as the technician wiped off the gel on my tummy.

“Oh no, I am not letting my daughters out of my sight,” he said as he took my arm and helped me off the bed.

‘You are being very silly now,” I laughed as he led me back to the waiting area.

He stood at the entrance of the waiting room and took in the impatient look on everyone’s faces and said, “The Bhatia family no longer carries the burden of lost love. The curse, if it did exist, is shattered into two million pieces because we are having girls!!”

I saw the shocked look on everybody’s face as they took in Nick’s words. I saw Ann and Nick’s mom rush to me while Nate and Srini went to hug Nick. I saw Nick’s dad slowly sit down pulling out his phone and make a call.

“Papa, two girls. We are blessed papa,” Nick’s dad said to Nick’s grandpa.

I smiled looking at Nick as he hugged every single person that was out in the waiting area whether they were family or not as he shared the news of welcoming twin girls.

Thirty minutes later, after almost being escorted out of the doctor’s office, Nick and I sat in silence in the back seat of the Range Rover as we took in the news of us being parents of two girls.

“I am going to up the height of the wall around the house,” Nick said breaking the silence.

I looked at him puzzled and he laughed and said, “Protection for the girls.”

“Okay, you need to back off on the possessive dad stuff,” I said running my fingers along his chest.

Nick caught hold of my hand taking it to his lips and said in a deep voice, “You have given me so much happiness today, Sameera. I almost can’t contain it.”

“Why don’t you see all the happiness you have given me?” I said smiling.

“What can I do? What can I do to show you how much this means?” Nick asked in a soft voice.

I looked at him and said, “You know what I want. I want to know why RajaRam abandoned his family and went back to the life that he had abandoned,” and asked, “Can you imagine doing that?”

I felt Nick shudder and when he finally spoke his voice was very coarse, “I cannot begin to imagine doing such a thing; I feel like there was a bigger reason, and I will find it out. A man who loved his family so much has been gravely misunderstood.”

“Nick, this is destiny and we are destined to answer all the questions around RajaRam and Jasleen’s lost love,” I said leaning on him.

“Yes, my love. I will find the answers for you. I promise,” Nick said placing his palm on my belly.

“Nick, can we talk about the trust fund?” I asked in a calm voice.

“It’s yours babe. You don’t need to discuss it with me,” Nick said smiling.

I smiled and said, “It belongs to the person with the chain around his neck, so it is yours.”

“Got it, what do you think I should do with the trust fund?” Nick asked smiling.

“Nick, I will not take no for an answer for the next few requests,” I said in a firm voice.

Nick looked at me with a puzzled expression and I spoke in a cool tone, “I want Nate to have half of the trust fund, and I want to keep a third of that for our children.”

  “And,” Nick probed.

“I want Mitch to have ten percent of the trust fund,” I said looking at Mitch in the driver’s seat and saw him wince.

“You heard her Mitch,” Nick cheered and added, “You are not that poor at math. Who gets the remaining ten percent?”

“Nick, here is my biggest ask and there is no room for negotiation,” I said firmly and added, “I have thought about this, and I know I want to do this.”

“I am listening,” Nick said softly.

“I want Sam to drop all the charges on Reetu,” I said looking at Nick’s shocked expression and added, “I want her to have the remaining ten percent of the trust fund in return for getting us the answers about RajaRam Vaasi.”

“What?” Nick asked in disbelief and added, “Mitch, pull over.”

I took a deep breath as Mitch changed lanes to take an exit and pull over to a safe spot.

Mitch and Nick continued to look at me in disbelief.

“Sameera, we cannot trust her, and I don’t want her roaming freely after what she has attempted to do,” Nick said in a stern voice.

“Nick, I am not asking,” I said looking at Nick and added, “Reetu is the only person who can find out what happened decades ago, and I want all the charges dropped. When can you get her out of jail?”

Nick took a deep breath and said, “I understand how strongly you feel about this, but Reetu?”

“Yes, Nick. It’s very obvious that she knows more about RajaRam Vaasi than his own family,” I said softly and added, “I cannot let go of this because I want to be able to tell my grandfather why RajaRam abandoned his family.”

“I understand sweetheart, but we have too many things on Reetu, and I just do not want her out in the open, especially now,” Nick said placing his palm over my baby bump.

I placed my palm over his and said, “I want to be able to tell our kids the history of our families without having to lie about why RajaRam left his family.”

Nick put his palm on my cheek and said, “Could you please give me some time to think about this?”

I nodded smiling as he wound his arms around me.

Later that night, I lay in bed looking at Nick’s beautiful face in the dim light. He slept peacefully on his back with one arm around me. I smiled thinking about how much my life had changed in the span of a year and was sure that I was the happiest person on the planet. A year after seeing Nick on his bike blowing kisses at me, I was about to be the mother of his children. I felt that I would do my part to lift the burden on the family by giving them the two baby girls that the family waited for impatiently.

I was confident that the destiny that brought me to be with the love of my life would guide me to find the answers to the questions that have gone unresolved for decades.
