Escape (Part One)

He scoffed. “You…” He wagged his finger at me. “You’re a fucking genius.”

Two fingers pinched the bridge of his nose as he glanced around the room, the only light streaming in from the high moon.

“I always hated this room,” he said to himself. He looked at me. “I always hated this room.”

“There’s nothing wrong with it,” I said, planting my feet near the door.

  “Like you would know.”

I crossed my arms. “I’m trying to sleep.”

He smirked. “If you were really trying, you wouldn’t have opened the door.”

  “I thought you were Evie.”

He laughed. “What are you, best friends with my sister now?”

  “She’s nice and funny.”

He held up his hands. “You want me to hook the two of you up? I don’t think she’s into girls but--” He collapsed into a fit of laughter, bending over at the waist, his hands gripping his knees.

I opened the door. “I need you to leave now.”

His laughter stopped. Chace stood up and squared his shoulders, one eyebrow raising as he said, “You must think I’m a fucking idiot.”

  “What are you talking about?”

He walked over to me. His hand encircled my wrist as he kicked the door close with a bang. I jumped at the sound and the small smirk on his mouth grew wider.

I pulled away and he let me go, his hand moving to the back of my head. He grabbed my hair and forced it all into a tight ponytail, his fingers digging into my scalp as he raised his other hand and placed it over my eyes. My throat grew tight as he backed me against the door, my shoulders pressing into the wood as our knees knocked together.

His mouth was inches away from mine, the smell of beer and booze wafting between us as he said, “Veronica.”

My hands balled into nervous fists at my sides. He dropped the hand over my eyes, staring at me as my own grew wide. His movements were quick, his nose pressing below my ear and down to my neck, inhaling my scent as his hand tightened in my hair.

“I can still smell myself on you,” he growled.

My stomach was in knots, twisting and turning as I said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Chace released a dark chuckle. He let go my hair, both of his hands flattening on either side of my head, palms resting on the door. He pushed his hips against mine, his cock hard in his pants. My legs instantly opened. He was trapping me, between his chest and the door.

His mouth hovered over mine as he said, “Tell me you don’t want this.”

My bottom lip was trembling in fear. Fear that I’d been found out, fear that all I wanted in that moment was Chace.

“I want this,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He tilted his head to the side, “Of course you do.”
