“I think I’ll go help Mom with the cake,” she said.

  ****

Cash pulled up in front of Connor’s campaign headquarters. He’d been foolish enough to leave his car outside. It was early November and this was Montana. He’d also been tired after their trip to Vegas and headed to bed early the night before and not listened to the weather forecast that had predicted snow overnight. The following morning it was still snowing and the wind had changed direction. It was cold and raw and Cash hoped this didn’t stop folks from going out to vote.

When he opened the door, the warm air greeted him. He saw Connor and Jennifer and then Katy and her parents talking to some folks that ran one of the local restaurants. Katy spotted him and walked over.

“Not the best day for voting with all the snow,” she said.

“We’ll keep thinking positive,” he said.

Connor headed their way. He slapped Cash on the back almost knocking him off his feet.

  “Nice to see you Cash.”

“Great to see you again too.”

“I want you to know that if I’m elected today I want you to come work with me.”

“That’s great but I don’t know what I’d do. I mean I don’t have any law enforcement training.”

“You’re an army guy so I’m sure we’d find the right position for you.”

He looked at Katy. She’d obviously told Connor. Probably told him about his leg. He hoped Connor’s offer wasn’t down to any sort of pity.

“There you are son,” said Katy’s father, also slapping him on the back. “I’m so proud that you’ve chosen to date my little girl here. Always pictured her with a hero and you truly are one.”

“Connor, Dad, could you just give Cash a little space and don’t overdo things,” said Katy.

“That’s okay, really it is,” said Cash. He didn’t want to offend either man. If he and Katy were going to make this a long term thing, then he’d hoped they’d all get along. He saw Katy moving her feet back and forth. She was clearly uncomfortable about the attention her family was suddenly giving him and he didn’t want her to think she was to blame.

“Hot chocolate for everyone,” said Betty. She winked at Cash. “Have you met my gentleman friend, Branndon Mckinney?” she asked him as a tall, grey haired man approached them carrying another tray of mugs of hot chocolate.

  “I don’t believe I have,” said Cash.

“Branndon, this is Katy’s boyfriend, Cash Doyle.”

Katy’s boyfriend. Did that make it official?

“I’m pleased to meet you,” he put out his hand and shook Cash’s hand.

“Isn’t your son the rodeo rider?” asked Cash.

“Yes, the one and only. Keep telling him he’s getting too old for it and he should settle down but you kids never listen to your parents.”

“Could I have everyone’s attention,” said Betty, standing on a chair.

“The polling stations open in fifteen minutes. Let’s go vote and then shuttle as many people as we can to the stations so we can make this handsome young man the next county sheriff of Big Sky County.”

Cash clapped and everyone else joined in.

“You want to go vote with me and then I can drop you back here for your car?” Cash asked Katy.

  “Good idea.”

He put out his arm to her and they headed outside with the rest of the group. A local newspaper cameraman snapped Connor and Jennifer’s photo as they walked along the sidewalk.

“Mr. and Mrs. Nolan-Delaney could you look this way please,” he shouted at them.

Connor waved and then got hold of Jennifer’s hand as they set off for their car.

“They are a cute couple,” said Cash. He opened the car for Katy; she slid in and then he walked around to the other side and got in. He turned on the ignition and quickly cranked up the heat.

“I’m sorry about how my dad and Connor overreacted.”

“That’s fine,” said Cash. He reached across and squeezed her hand. “If this relationship is going to work you just have to relax Katy. Treat me like any other guy you’ve dated.”

  ****

Katy held Cash’s hand as they waited for the final votes to be announced. Cash had been wonderful the whole day. He’d been like family. He’d traveled back and forth between the polling station and the nursing home three times, fitting more people into his car then was probably legal, but he’d done it.

“They’re about to announce the totals,” shouted Betty.

The room they’d rented at the back of the Old Mill Tavern, yes the whorehouse that Cash’s great, great, great, grandmother had owned, was now campaign central. Everyone had gathered there for drinks, food, and to wait for this very moment.

Betty turned up on the volume on the flat screen TV on the wall.

“And now to the votes for Big Sky County sheriff. Matt Peterson, incumbent, 23,568 votes,” said the reporter.

Katy squeezed Cash’s hand harder and then squeezed her eyes shut.

  “Connor Nolan-Delaney, 26, 987 votes.”

The roar in the room was suddenly deafening. Cash turned to her and they kissed.

“Your big brother’s done it,” he said.

Katy ran over to Connor and hugged him. Connor looked over at Cash. Cash fisted the air.

“I wasn’t joking when I said I’d like him to come work for me,” said Connor.

“I know,” said Katy. “But he has a few things to work out first.”

  “Like what?”

The last thing she wanted to tell her brother was that she and Cash hadn’t consummated their relationship yet.

“He’s still has a few issues about his accident he’s dealing with.”

  “Hey, that’s perfectly understandable.”

  “Speech, speech, speech,” shouted everyone.

Katy walked back to join Cash as Connor got up on the stage next to their parents, Betty, and also Jennifer.

“I want to thank every one of you for making this dream of mine become a reality. Without each and every one here today, well, it wouldn’t have been possible.”

  Cash whistled and Katy cheered.

“First of all, I need to thank my campaign manager who also happens to be my aunt, Betty.”

  Betty waved to everyone.

“She has worked almost 24/7 since the day I told my family I wanted to be Big Sky County’s next sheriff. On the plus side she’s snagged herself a man who she met on the campaign trail.”

Connor pointed to Branndon who lifted his cowboy hat and waved it in the air.

“Next my parents for putting up with me all these years. As many of you know my dad was diagnosed with cancer this past summer but I’m glad to say he’s doing fine.”

Katy whistled her dad as everyone clapped.

“And as many of you also know I got married to the most beautiful woman in Grantsville. My new wife Jennifer who I love more than I could ever have imagined you could love someone. And who’s carrying our son, Jon Nolan-Delaney.”

Damn, she was hoping she’d call her son Jon after their great, great, great, great grandpa if he was indeed their bloodline.

“Oh and I can’t forget my sister Katy who put up my campaign signs in her sex shop and found a way to get me votes with her customers. Come on up here Katy and bring that handsome guy of yours with you.”

Katy pulled on Cash’s hand and the two of them walked up to the stage.

“Some of you might already know Cash Doyle who, like us, has a longstanding family history with this community.”

  Katy and Cash waved.

“In fact, I’d like to announce that Cash will be working with my office once it’s set up and running.”

Katy looked at Cash and shrugged her shoulders.

“In fact, let’s honor this young man for serving his country and for those of you who don’t know he lost his leg fighting for us.”

Connor meant well but now she felt bad that she’d told her brother about Cash’s leg
.

She turned to look at Cash. He was blushing. He didn’t say anything but then left the stage so quickly that he missed the step and went down on the floor.

  “Shit,” Cash said.

Katy rushed to him. He’d hit his head on the corner of a table and blood was streaming down his face.

“Someone call an ambulance,” said Katy.

“No, really it’s okay,” said Cash.

Connor and Betty rushed over to him as well.

“Let’s get you up a chair and get something for your head,” said Betty.

Branndon and Connor helped him up.

Betty wiped his head. “I think you need to get some sutures honey. Branndon you want to help Katy and me get Cash to the ER?”

“Sure thing,” said Branndon. “I’ll bring the truck around.”

“Connor, why did you tell everyone about Cash? He was adamant he didn’t want people feeling sorry for him?” asked Katy.

“They won’t. He’s a local hero,” said Connor.

“And why didn’t you ask my permission to call your son Jon? Didn’t you think that maybe I’d like to name my child that too?”

“What’s gotten into you all of a sudden? Seems since you and Cash came back from Vegas you’ve been uptight and snappy.”

He was right. Normally they got on so well.

“You and Cash not getting enough sex or something?

Katy took a deep breath. Maybe that was it. She needed a good fuck and there wasn’t any chance of get one soon.

“Okay, truck’s ready and waiting,” said Branndon.

“We’ll talk tomorrow and congratulations again big brother,” she said.

They hugged and then she helped Branndon and Betty walk Cash to the truck.

God, Cash must really hate my family by now.

  Chapter Seven

Cash thought after all he went through breaking his arms, losing his leg, and the burns, that getting a few sutures would be piece of cake, but he was pretty sure he whimpered while the ER doctor patched him up. He’d kindly let Katy stay with him and like a mother with her child, she’d held his hand throughout the whole thing.

“And you’re up to date with your tetanus shots?” asked the doctor as he cleared away the sutures.

“Definitely up to date,” said Cash.

“I’ll write you a prescription for some antibiotics. Is there anyone who can keep an eye on you tonight because…”

“I can,” said Katy, clearing jumping in there before knowing why she had to be with him.

She was almost too good to be true.

“He might have a concussion so try and keep him awake as much as possible.”

“I can do that,” said Katy.

“Great and whenever you’d like you can go home,” said the doctor shaking Cash’s hand.

“You want me to go get you a wheelchair?” asked Katy.

“No, absolutely not. I’ll have to take Betty and Branndon out for a meal to thank them for the ride and sticking around for as long as they did.”

“We could double date with them.”

“Yeah as long as I don’t have to hear about the rodeo.”

  ****

Katy hadn’t played Monopoly since she and Connor were kids and the Nolan-Delaneys had family game night every Monday without fail. It brought back memories long forgotten. What great parents they had. What a wonderful big brother Connor had been. And yes, she felt even worse remembering how she’d snapped at him earlier that evening. Or should that be yesterday. It had been Connor’s big night and she’d snapped at him for trying to help her boyfriend land a great job in the county sheriff’s office.

Katy looked across the table. Cash was clearly ready to doze off because his eyelids were fluttering. She was here to stop that from happening.

“That’s $500 you owe me,” she said.

“What?” he asked, his head snapping up so quickly she even heard it pop.

“You landed on my property,” said Katy.

“You kick ass at this game.”

“Got lots of practice while I was growing up. Family game night. Don’t you miss how things used to be when you were young? Simpler times with all the worry and strife of life down to your parents. Biggest worry was a zit on your chin.”

“Not me,” said Cash, stretching his arms into the air.

“You haven’t really gone into lots of detail about your family. I’d like to hear about them.”

  That should keep him awake.

“Believe me Katy, you do not. They’re nothing like your tight-knit one.”

“Your dad was a rancher too, right?”

“Yeah, and ran the family like the army.”

Cash stood and walked toward the window. It was pitch-black outside by still he stood looking out at nothing. Katy got up and walked behind him and wrapped her arms around him.

“You see a lot of him?”

“No, and in all honesty that’s the way I like it,” said Cash. He put his hands on hers. “You don’t know how lucky you are to have parents like you do.”

  He was right.

  “They’re good people,” said Cash.

He turned around and kissed her. He held her tight.

Katy unzipped his pants. What she had in mind would keep him awake and she didn’t care what he looked like, she was going to get him naked.

“Katy,” whispered Cash. “I thought we’d been through this in Vegas.”

“I don’t care what you look like. It’s what’s inside you that counts, and I think the man that’s inside this skin is pretty fantastic.”

“I won’t be able to deal with it if you scream or are repulsed or…”

She put her finger on his lips before walking over to the bed. She sat and carefully pulled down his sweats. The tops of his thighs had puckered pink skin. She touched it hoping she didn’t hurt him or make him feel self-conscious in any way. His erection strained against boxers. He was going to be beautiful. She knew it.

Katy gently eased his boxers down his thighs, seeing the puckered skin continue all the way to his genitals and lower belly. Poor Cash. The pain he must have been in had to have been sickening.

“You don’t have to look,” said Cash.

“I want to. I also want to touch you.”

Katy ran her hands over his thighs; his balls and cock that now pulsed against her fingers.

“I need you to fuck me Cash. I can’t stand being around you like this and us not making love. I want you inside me.”

  “Katy…”

She wasn’t taking no for an answer from him ever again.

Katy took off her jeans, panties and then slipped off her sweater and bra. She scooted back on Cash’s bed and opened her legs for him.

  “Come and get me.”

  ****

Cash touched Katy’s breasts, feeling and savoring every inch of them. Soft, big, heavy, and downright gorgeous. He moved his hands over her nipples. Dusty pink and turning hard as he rolled and pulled them. The thought of pushing his cock inside her almost made him come. What would that be like after all this time? Maybe waiting had been a good thing.

Next Cash focused on Katy’s belly. Her soft skin and those curvy hips. Venturing lower he stroked her thick dark curls. He pushed his fingers through them. Cash nudged her thighs apart just a little more. She was aroused. Pink pussy lips with juices that clung to her folds. He touched her clit. She drew in her breath and wiggled her body as he circled the nub making it hard. It even had a tiny pulse. He teased it some more hearing her groan as she obviously got closer to her orgasm. When she did it would be music to his ears.

Neither of them spoke as he toyed with her opening, pretending to push his finger inside her but pulling out just before he did. He hoped she didn’t mind him teasing her. She was hot, tight and moist. He finger fucked her, feeling her cream pass over his hand each time he ventured inside her. He was starting to get cramp in his leg but he wasn’t going to stop pleasuring her now. He’d put u
p with the discomfort and deal with the consequences later.

“Cash, don’t stop,” said Katy pushing her thighs upward. She closed her eyes and he watched as made fists with her hands and then another gush of her juices washed over his knuckles as she cried out.

He wanted to hold her, kiss her, lick her, spoil her, but his leg was killing him.

“I have to take a rest but I’m not giving in,” Cash told her.

“Sure, anything you need to do, we’ll do,” said Katy.

Cash scooted off the bed and dragged the chair toward him and swung himself over and sat on it. Katy edged to the side of the bed, her legs and feet dangling. He reached out and stroked her thigh.

She had the softest skin he’d ever touched. Katy leaned over and kissed him, quickly easing her body onto his. She straddled him as they cuddled.

“I’m not hurting you am I?” she asked him. “I know I’m not the lightest of women.”

“No…I mean you’re not hurting me and I love these curves of yours. They give me a hard-on just thinking about them.”

Cash ran his hands over her hips. She reached down between their bodies and stroked his cock. The wait was getting unbearable.

“I have some condoms in the drawer over there. You want to go get one?” asked Cash.

  “Sure.”

Katy got up and walked over to his bedside table and leaned over. Cash had to control himself. Her pussy was on full display and he so wanted to finally introduce his cock to it.

  “Katy,” he asked.

  “Yes.”

“You might try staying in that position and letting me take you from behind. I’d prefer that our first time was like that and I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

  “I don’t mind at all.”

Cash got up and walked over to her. He massaged her butt cheeks and then made sure she was still wet and ready by pushing his finger between them so he could feel her pussy. She ripped open the condom and handed it to him. He slipped it on. He hadn’t worn one of these in forever.

Slowly he pushed his dick inside of Katy and almost cried. It was better than he’d imagined. Shit, she was tight. Her pussy grabbed him, teased him almost. This was it. They were finally going to have sex. Cash moved his hips, thrusting gently inside her. He wished he could have waited and done things the way women usually liked it, missionary style. A little bit more romantic with them facing one another and looking into each other’s eyes. Cash slid his arm around the side of Katy’s body, pushed his hand between her legs and quickly found her clit.
