“Those women didn’t listen?”

  “No.”

  “Why?”

“Fuck if I should know. But maybe this time I can actually save someone.”

Miller let Jordyn go and then slammed the doors shut as he went back into the room. Jordyn stood in the clubhouse and watched as the members of Back Down Devil MC enjoyed their night. The first person she made eye contact with was Blaine. It made her stomach flip and it got worse as Blaine started to walk toward her. He had a cigarette hanging from his mouth and a bottle of beer in his hand. He walked right up to Jordyn and put a hand to the wall behind her. There was no shame or fear in Blaine. He was right in her face.

“Beautiful,” Blaine said. He took the cigarette from his mouth. “You look a little lost around here. Need some directions?”

  “Just need to find Jace.”

  “You two fucking still?”

  “Christ…”

“We're all friends around here. If you ever need… something bigger. Something different. Wild. Come find me. We all share.”

  “You share?”

“No, we don’t,” another voice said.

Jordyn turned her head and saw a tall and thick muscled guy walking toward them. He seemed to be the biggest of all the Back Down Devil guys.

“Nate, bro, I’m working here,” Blaine said.

“She was just inside there with Jace, Gaige, and Miller. I wouldn’t get involved.”

“Oh, but I’ve seen her wet and in a towel.” Blaine stared at Jordyn. “I can’t get the image out of my fucking mind…”

Jordyn opened her mouth and then Blaine was ripped away. It was Jace. And he was pissed off. He spun Blaine around and threw a fist. Blaine’s head snapped back. His cigarette and beer flew to the floor as Blaine stumbled back and tried to keep himself from falling.

Nate dove and wrapped his massive arms around Jace and held him.

“You don’t fucking get it!” Jace yelled at Blaine.

“Fuck, man,” Blaine said as he wiped blood from his nose.

“You don’t fucking touch her like that. You don’t fucking grab at her or say shit like that. She doesn't deserve that!”

Nate turned and threw Jace into the bar. Jace collected himself and ran to Jordyn. When he took her by the arm, the look on his face was like nothing Jordyn had ever seen. He was vulnerable. He cared. It touched her heart in a way that scared her. This big tough biker was crossing a line now, and Jordyn kind of liked it.

“I’m sorry,” Blaine said. “You know I have no control this huge cock of mine.”

Jace shook his head and led Jordyn away. They walked in silence and even after they were Jace’s room, the silence was nerve-racking. Jordyn had no idea what to say. So much had happened.

Jace went into the bathroom and shut the door. The last time she was in this room was when she had been so angry and in such desperate need she literally threw herself at Jace. And he took her. He took her like she could never have imagined.

Now the feeling was much different.

Jordyn slowly approached the bathroom and opened the door. Jace stood at the sink, staring in the mirror. Even though it was a reflection, his blue eyes were so intense.

  “Jace…”

“I don’t like it,” he said. “I can’t keep losing people in my life.”

  “Losing people?”

“I told myself I’d get out and just not give a fuck. Run rampant. Fix the problems I saw. But I had no idea you would come barreling into my goddamn life, Jordyn. And I made you a promise that I intend to keep. Even if the world is against me."

Jordyn stepped forward and slipped her arms around Jace’s waist. She put her head to his back.

“I’ll be okay,” she whispered. “I trust you, Jace. I don’t know why. I’m not the kind of person that just rushes into someone’s life. But I trust you.”

Jordyn closed her eyes. Her heart raced and her stomach fluttered. It was the kind of feeling Jordyn wasn’t used to. And, damn, if Miller was right…

I’m going to fall for him.

  twelve.

Jace could only stand there for so long. Each second brought them closer. When Jace looked in the mirror at himself, he was fucking livid. He should have just tossed Jordyn out of his room from the second she stepped into it that first day. Now he couldn’t let her go. He couldn’t imagine her in that office with Strokner. Especially if Strokner was going to say things to her. Torture her with his mind games. Then touch her, force her to do more, all because the club wanted her help. Jace was pissed off that he was second guessing his choice to have Jordyn at the clubhouse.

“I’ve let you down already,” Jace said. He grabbed Jordyn’s hands and broke her hold. “Just like I said. And I’m sure I’ll hurt you.” Jace turned and pushed his way out of the bathroom.

“Jace, if Mr. Strokner is going to hurt people, he should be stopped. He’s going to hurt me if I don’t do this. Do you not understand that?”

“Don’t make yourself out to be some fucking hero,” Jace said. “You’re not.”

“Fuck you,” Jordyn snapped. She quickly slapped a hand over her mouth.

“Yeah, speak the truth, babe. If you want to disappear after all this, you can. I’ll help you. But I promise you that you’re going to run right back into it.”

“To find out more,” Jordyn said. “Because I trust you. Because I trust what you’ll do.”

“Trust?” Jace laughed. “I went to kill a kid the other day. To send a message to his father.”

Jordyn gasped. She reminded herself, again, that she was staring at a murderer. Not alleged. Jordyn had seen it.

  “You killed a kid?”

“No,” Jace said. He sat down on the edge of his bed. “I couldn’t do it. I mean, fuck, I could have done it. I can do anything I want. But the kid was getting the shit beat out of him by some punks.”

Jordyn stepped toward Jace. “What did you do?”

Jace looked at Jordyn. “I told him to stop being a pussy and fight back. Either I help the kid or he ends up dead anyway. It didn’t help me get my message to the kid’s father who is the prick judge that let me sit in prison. And I’m telling you, babe, it’s all tied together. That guy that wanted to shoot me? I saw that crew getting a shipment of drugs. And Strokner wanting you to give me that file? There was a reason for that.”

“Do you think Mr. Strokner would be working with other clubs?”

“I don’t fucking know,” Jace said. “My head is scrambled.”

Jordyn was now standing in front of Jace. She slowly reached out and put her hands to his shoulders. “I’ve lost so much, Jace. I’m tired of it. I couldn’t control my parents’ death… but I can try to control this.”

Jace reached out and touched Jordyn’s hips. He gritted his teeth and shook his head. He couldn’t believe where all this was going. How intense Jordyn was making things already. Her sweet body… the taste of her skin…

“I don’t want to lose you because of some stupid decision,” Jace said. “What if Strokner gets drunk and angry and hits you again. I’ll lose my damn mind.”

“Why? Why does it matter? If you’re going to let me down and hurt me… if you’re going to send me packing when this is done…”

“Because I lost my fucking parents, too,” Jace said. He squeezed at Jordyn’s hips. “I know what it’s like. Mine were shot and killed in a botched burglary attempt at our home. I had no one after that. You had someone to pull you back in and help make things as good as they could be. I didn’t. When my parents were gone, I jumped over the line and never looked back. My life and legacy is this club. My ride. My ability to fight, to kill, to survive. That’s what I leave behind. But you deserve more, Jordyn. You shouldn’t be in all this.”

Jace couldn’t believe he had just blurted that out. He slowly looked up at Jordyn as she looked down at him. He never thought in a million years he’d confess that to a woman.

“I don’t have anything or anyone either,” Jordyn whispered.

  “You said your grandmother…”

“She’s dying, Jace. She has cancer. She’s in a hospital waiting to go. All she ever wanted was for me to have a good job and life that I could be proud of. One that would have made my parents proud. She wanted me to be happy.”

“And instead you’re in the bedroom of a murderer biker,” Jace said. “I don’t think that’s what she had in mind, do you?”

Jordyn ran a hand through Jace’s hair. “I don’t know, Jace. But right now, she thinks I have a great job. I’m okay with that. The only other thing she wanted was for me to have a good man.”

“I’m not a good man. Don’t even put that shit in your mind.”

  “Then what are you, Jace?”

Jace gently lifted Jordyn’s shirt and exposed her bare stomach. He leaned forward and gently kissed her stomach. “I’m an outlaw, Jordyn. I don’t follow any rules except the ones that are made by the sound of a gavel.” Jace kissed Jordyn’s stomach again. His hand started to slip into her jeans, pulling them down as much as he could without unbuttoning them. “I’m a fantasy, babe. A wild, dark fantasy. But I keep my promises. So if you’re going to put yourself in danger, I’m going to protect you. And that starts and ends with you right here, in my bed with me.” Jace looked up and saw the flushed look on Jordyn’s face. “Understand me?”

  “Yes,” Jordyn whispered.

Jace flicked his thumb and unbuttoned Jordyn’s jeans. He pulled them down just above her knees and left them there. She tried to open her legs as much as she could. For a second, Jace was a little disappointed that Jordyn was wearing panties right now. But since she was wearing them, he would have a little fun and test her boundaries a little.

He grabbed her ass with one hand while his fingers on his other hand entered her pants. He placed his hand at the front of her panties and with his thumb, he pressed against her. When his thumb curled, he felt the warmth of her pussy burning through. Jace applied more pressure and felt Jordyn jump. When he kissed her stomach again, he offered his tongue and Jordyn dug her hands into his hair. He kissed her lower stomach, slicing into her pants with the tip of his tongue as though it were a razor. His thumb rubbed in circles and Jace felt Jordyn’s ass tightening against his hand. He slowly kissed up and looked at her. Her head was back and she was starting to breathe uncontrollably.

  No fucking way…

Jace didn’t believe that Jordyn was really getting ready to come. He moved his hand from her ass to her hip. Suddenly, Jace let all the thoughts race back to him. What happened with Strokner and Jordyn. That prick from Coast Road trying to take him out. Miller and Gaige jumping at the idea of Jordyn pleasing Strokner for more information.

Jace growled and pressed his thumb even harder. He moved left to right and even through Jordyn’s panties, he could feel the nub of her swollen clit. It turned Jace on even more. Jordyn pulled at his hair and started to thrust her hips at him. Her breathing grew even more erratic. Jordyn moved to her toes and that’s when she started to come. Her entire body shook with pleasuring fury. Jace took his hand from her pussy and pulled her close. He kissed her lower stomach once and then turned his head.

Don’t fucking hug her like this…

  But it was too late.

Jace hugged Jordyn, feeling her stomach as she was breathing like crazy. Her hands loosened up on his hair and she started to hold him against her body.

“Thank you for telling me,” she whispered. “I want to know more, Jace. About you. About everything.”

“This is not the life you want,” Jace said. “Especially with me. I’m no good.”

  “Maybe that’s what I need.”

Jace looked up and Jordyn looked down at him. There were a hundred things running through his mind. Most of them were words that would make things more serious than either of them was ready for."

Jordyn’s eyes were burning at him.

“I’m sorry about your family,” Jace said. “It’s not fair.”

“It’s not fair for you, either,” Jordyn said. She bit her lip for a second and then bent her knees.

She still wants it… holy fuck…

“I don’t care about that shit,” Jace said. “I care about today.”

  “You’re worried about me… Mr. Strokner…”

“I don’t want to hear his name right now.”

“Okay. What do you want to hear?”

Jace smirked. “I want to hear you moan my name while I fill that sweet pussy of yours…”

“Fuck,” Jordyn whispered. She bit her lip again.

  He wanted her bad.

Before anything could happen there was a knock at Jace’s door.

“Open it,” Jace yelled. He turned his head and saw Blaine standing there. “What the fuck do you want?”

“We need to go,” Blaine said. “Right now. Miller got a call from the chief.”

“What the fuck does he want?”

Blaine looked at Jordyn, then back to Jace. “Two bodies, Jace. Pretty nasty shit.”

  “Why does it involve us?”

“Miller made the call, man. Come on.”

  Blaine closed the door.

When Jace stood he towered over Jordyn. “I guess I have to go, babe.”

“Nothing I can do to keep you here?”

“Not when the call comes.” Jace touched her face. “I might walk out that door and never come back. I might get my fucking head blown off. I might get blown up. I might get kidnapped. You okay with that?”

“No,” Jordyn said. “But I guess I have to accept it.”

Jordyn moved in and kissed Jace.

There was nothing else to say. Jace hated goodbyes because they were meaningless. He’d rather leave with the lingering taste of Jordyn’s lips than anything else right now. However, at the door, he stopped and looked over his shoulder. Jordyn stood there with her jeans down to her knees and her shirt barely covering her panties.

Fuck… she’s going to destroy me.

  thirteen.

When Jace opened the door, Blaine stood against the other wall. He had one foot up and stared right at Jace. Jace shut the door and Blaine came at him and threw him against the wall. He made a fist and put it to Jace’s face. One of Blaine’s ring dug into Jace’s cheek.

“I feel like knocking your fucking teeth out,” Blaine said. “Fucking punching me like that. You know me, bro. I talk. And my talk is cheap. I don’t give a fuck though. It keeps my goddamn mind off the bullshit outside. I like my cock rubbed, sucked, fucked, whatever. I like to come. Give me a tight pussy, tight ass, small mouth, wiggling tongue…”

“What do you want right now?” Jace asked.

“I want you to know two things. First, I’m sorry for what happened to you. And that the judge fucked with you. I believe you that there’s some kind of connection to everything. Second, I’m sorry if I said anything to offend Jordyn. I would never force myself on another brother’s old lady.”

“She’s not my old lady,” Jace said. “She’s just… here…”

  “So can I fuck her?”

Jace gritted his teeth. “You know what the prick Strokner is doing to her?”

“No. Don’t tell me. Don’t give me one more reason to gut him.”

“We have common ground then, Blaine,” Jace said. “Keep it at that. And keep your cock in your pants.”

Blaine let Jace go and put his hands up. “Fair enough. But the second you change your mind, brother, about that piece in your room… you call me. I want to tear that pussy up. Whatever’s going on, I can make it all better. You know, in a lot of ways, bro, I’m like a fucking doctor.”

  Jace made fists. “Doctor?”

“Doctor Blaine. Just think about it.” Blaine tapped the side of his head. He nodded and started walking.

Jace kept looking back to his room, wondering what Jordyn was thinking and what she would do. Damn her for wanting to be involved in this shit. It wasn’t a fucking game. It was real. Far too real.

  Outside
, Miller, Gaige, Nate, and Griffin were already on their bikes. Jace got on his motorcycle and then their engines began growling like a rolling thunderstorm as they headed out in formation.

Jace had no idea why the hell the chief would call them about a double homicide. Unless this was going to get tied to Jace somehow. For a split second, Jace panicked and thought about going back to the clubhouse. Anytime he left the clubhouse he was risking his life anyway, but with Jordyn back in his bedroom it actually bothered him to be out in the open right now.

Jace stuck to his honor and stayed with his club. They ended up on a desolate road. It was the exact kind of road where you’d expect two guys to be killed. Or for some other kind of bad shit to go down. The road connected Frelen with a few small, rundown towns to the south. You had to go through those towns to connect with the Interstate. From there, you could go anywhere you wanted to go.

When Miller turned off the road, the guys followed. A hundred feet up ahead was a single cruiser. Its lights weren’t flashing, but its headlights were on. Chief Jerry sat on the hood of his cruiser, pounding down a sandwich. A half empty bottle of soda sat next to him with the cap off.

  “Chief,” Miller said.

“Got a sandwich for us?” Blaine asked.

“Got some of those fine women for me?” Chief Jerry asked.

“Chief, you’re a married man. With a kid now," Gaige said.

“Yeah? So? My wife’s miserable because she had a kid and the kid cries half the night looking for my wife’s tits. If I dare touch her tits, I get yelled at.”

“You mustn’t be cute enough,” Jace said.

Everyone laughed except for Chief Jerry. He stepped to the ground and held out the sandwich to Blaine. “Few bites left if you want it.”

  “Hell yeah,” Blaine said.

As Blaine reached for it, Chief Jerry opened his hand and dropped the sandwich.

  “Whoops,” he said.

He then stepped forward, planting one of his black boots on the sandwich, and twisted it into the ground.

  “Fucking prick,” Blaine said.

The chief smiled and then looked at Jace. “Jace. How’s it going?”
