  AKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Fi – Thanks for your love, support and for laughing at parts of the book, even those bits that aren’t meant to be funny! After having to put up with me writing 3 books in the last 4 years, I know I promised not to write any more for a while but I have this idea….

Harrison & Baxter – Read the books that I wrote about The Posh and dedicated to each of you before you read this one. Maybe you can use this book as a reference to “how not to live your teen’s and early 20’s”. Let me know when you are ready to go to Glastonbury – I can’t wait to be an embarrassing dad.

Mum & Dad – For the Bowie gig, the Billy Bragg tape and for so much more.

My Sister – For being a pain in the arse & for stopping ‘Amy’ from killing me at V97.

Doody and Jacko – For being Doody and Jacko. Mine’s a London Pride tops & a trip to the offy after a day at Newmarket Races.

To all of the women featured in this story – if you’re reading this, I’m sure you have recognised your role in the book, despite me changing the names to protect the innocent. I hope life is sweet for you all.

Ralph – For being an amazingly patient editor and helping me with my addiction to commas. The best parts of writing this book have been sat in the Palmy listening to your stories (which are far funnier than mine). Thanks for signing up to the next one….

Mark – For those teenage years spent listening to Prince and then Dinosaur Jr. If your brother hadn’t liked Morrissey, I would never have got into this mess!

All of my mates that feature in the book – Shin, Deano, Ally, Neil, Jake.

Maff – For picking up on the festival line-up mistakes – cheers Screws.

Sinead – For accepting with such good grace that she had to be edited out of the story & for correcting me about ‘Friends’ catchphrases.

The Pyramid Stage – I haven’t been to Glasto since 2007 but it remains my favourite place in the world.

To everyone that pre-ordered the book or who helped promote it on social media. My heartfelt thanks.

Adrian Durham, ‘Papa Bear’, Laura Dockrill & Julie H – For their kind words that were used in the promotional campaign.

BNBS – For giving the book a chance

Claire – For the brilliant book cover

Tim Burgess – His sparkling ‘Telling Stories’ was an inspiration & his band remains the greatest live act on the planet.

Billy Bragg – Over 40 gigs, spread over 23 years and still every time I see him, I’m taken back to that amazing first night at Hackney Empire.

Peterborough United – For being an equal purveyor of joy and pain in my life since 1984.

  Nye Bevan’s statue

First Capital Connect (& subsequently Great Northern) – For providing trains between Peterborough and Kings Cross so slow and often delayed that I had the time to write this book.

The peerless setlist.fm website, which has helped me piece together my fading memories of gigs long past.

Adnams Ghost Ship – For providing the fuel to enable me to dredge up my memories.

And finally to Morrissey. This is my sick way….

  Coming in 2016
