  Carrie said.

“I’m sorry you were forced to obey. Please believe me when I say Roll would have made it seem like you had fallen off the face of the earth if he became suspicious. I’m so sorry about Ace. I could kill Seth for that. He swore no one would touch you. I thought I could trust him,” Tyr said, agonized.

“But, Tyr, don’t you see, Ace protected me, he cared for me and made me feel safe, just like you did. But I don’t love Ace. If all I was feeling was gratitude or confusion and dependence for you, wouldn’t I feel for him the same way? I love you, Tyr. It’s not misguided, like Daddy thinks,” Carrie said and he could see her heartfelt conviction.

Relieved, Tyr captured her lips in a soft kiss. “I

love you, too, Carrie. I think I fell in love with you the minute I set eyes on you. Do you remember when I left I said I would bring you back something special?”

“I told you I wanted you; you are special.”

Tyr got down on one knee before her and, taking her hand in his, he opened a red velvet box containing a beautiful diamond engagement ring. Carrie inhaled a deep breath.

“If you still want me, if you still think I’m special,

marry me. I promise you I will love you from this life and beyond.”

She looked at him with those big blue innocent eyes and he felt his insides turn to jelly. Oh God, how he loved her!

“I would be honored to be your wife.” He sat beside her and pulled her into his embrace.

Carrie smiled at him, and then grew serious. “My

father is very angry with you. I only just discovered I

had a real family, I can’t give them up.”

“I guess that means when we come to visit I’ll be greeted with a left hook instead of a handshake,” he grumbled.

“I don’t want to leave here,” Carrie said with

  sadness.

“What are you saying?” he asked with apprehension. Slowly he pulled away from her.

“I want to live here, with you and Daddy.”

“Carrie,” Tyr began, shaking his head.

“Please, don’t make me choose. It would kill me. I need my father, I need you. You told me your own father was basically gone from your life when you were only six. What would you give to have him back?” Carrie implored.

“I wouldn’t give up you,” Tyr said, annoyed.

“That’s not fair! I never had a father, not ever. He loves me; I love him, too, and Damien and Granddad. Why can’t we live in two places? When Dad gets to be too much we can visit with your brother,” Carrie reasoned.

“Yes, but Wolf would never slug you in the jaw!”

Tyr grumbled, rubbing at his own.

“I’m certain he wouldn’t. I will tell Daddy no violence. He will listen,” Carrie said with conviction.

“How can you be so sure?” Tyr grouched. Dirk looked angry enough to kill him.

“Well, perhaps I might just have an asthma attack

if he doesn’t follow the rules,” Carrie said deviously. “When did you get so crafty?” Tyr asked with

  raised eyes.

“Maggie and the other women taught me a great deal. It wasn’t all about how to please a man. Slaves or not, the world didn’t just revolve around Seth and his men. I learned how to put some very useful skills to work for me,” Carrie said.

“Did you?” Tyr said with some dismay. He knew what Maggie taught. With Carrie’s looks she could have had a man on his knees by batting an eyelash.

“I got to go jogging, didn’t I?” she said, obviously

  enjoying his discomfort.

“It looks like I’m going to have to take up jogging,” Tyr grumbled.

Carrie’s smile turned serious. “Please can we live here? We are safe here. Ace is still out there. Roll is still out there, although I think he would be inclined to leave me be. At least Daddy didn’t put you in a coma.”

“He tried,” Tyr mumbled and rubbed his jaw

  again.

“Granddad will keep Daddy busy. He is teaching him to take over. My father will be a very powerful man one day. A good man to have on your side,” Carrie cajoled.

“I have Wolf,” Tyr said, unwilling to be swayed. “We can visit Wolf often. Daddy’s a bit

overprotective, and though I admit I enjoy his

attention, he sometimes can be a wee bit smothering,” Carrie said with fondness.

Tyr took note at how Carrie’s eyes softened at the mention of her father. He battled his jealousy. He had thought to sequester her away where she would be his alone. Now he was expected to share her with a room full of men, again!

But looking at her, he realized it would be very

different. No man would ever harm her. She would be well protected and she would feel safe. It occurred to him suddenly Carrie had been through a very traumatic experience. Wolf had mentioned it might take a while for her to feel safe with him. What if her reluctance to live alone with him stemmed from her fear? She had been stolen, twice. She had been forced into submission numerous times. Roll had hit her.

“Carrie, did anyone hurt you after I left?” Tyr

  asked.

“I wasn’t beaten. My first night with Ace was terrifying. He never harmed me, but he touched me in intimate places and made me touch him, making me uncomfortable, knowing I must allow him anything he desired. I was a slave, Tyr, owned. I was given no choices. All of my freedom was gone. I was not allowed to express anger or hatred. When Dirk kidnapped me and brought me to a remote place, I

was so afraid of him I...I offered myself to him willingly, fearfully, wondering if he would beat me,” she said, dropping her head, her feelings of shame and embarrassed all too apparent.

“No wonder he hates me,” Tyr mused. He placed

himself in Dirk’s position for a moment and shuddered. He was lucky Dirk hadn’t shot him on sight. If he were to take Carrie away he realized Dirk would hate him even more.

“Do you fear me, Carrie? Are you afraid I will return you to Seth’s?” Tyr asked.

“No. You say you love me. You know I would die if I were placed back in bondage,” she replied in earnest.

“If you want to live here I will try my best to get

along with your father. I can live with his anger, but I can’t live without you.” He wondered if she would ever get over her fear of being kidnapped. He was willing to do anything to make her feel safe, even if it meant sleeping with a baseball bat.

“I’m so happy! Daddy will be so happy!” Carrie squealed with delight.

But from the look on Dirk’s face Tyr doubted it. He could see Wolf trying to engage the man in conversation, yet Dirk’s scowl remained fastened on himself.

“Uh, Carrie?” Tyr began. “Your dad’s not going to want to come along on our honeymoon, is he?”

Carrie giggled. She looked over at her dad, who

was still glaring at Tyr. “I think maybe I can convince him to stay home, if I enlist Granddad's help.”

“Something tells me I’m going to like your

  granddad,” Tyr mumbled.

  * * * *

It had indeed been a community effort to convince Dirk that Carrie would be fine while with Tyr on her honeymoon. Dirk had snapped and snarled, then whined and cajoled until Carrie almost relented.

But Tyr had remained adamant. He argued with his future father-in-law heatedly that he was more than capable of keeping Carrie safe. To Carrie’s great relief her grandfather had come to her rescue and told her he had other plans which would keep Dirk very busy while she was away.

Then to Dirk, James had quietly informed him he had enlisted the aid of a multitude of contacts that would be close on hand in case Carrie ever needed help. There would be enough of his people based at the resort on their own ‘vacation’. Tyr would never even notice them.

  * * * *

“Are you having a good time?” Tyr asked Carrie. They strolled into their spacious room hand in

  hand, feeling immedi
ate relief from the air conditioner, a cool shelter from the blazing hot, Brazilian afternoon sun. He pulled her into his embrace. A clear view of the ocean was visible

  through their window.

Carrie snuggled into his warm, powerful chest. “It’s wonderful, but anywhere with you would be wonderful. I love you so much, my darling.”

Carrie knew Tyr loved it when she said those

words; she always included the extra words knowing the phrase was not something Maggie had taught. Carrie had come up with them on her own.

“I love you, too, with all my heart.”

Carrie smiled up into his handsome face. His beautiful blue eyes radiated their heat down onto her and she could tell what he was thinking. He had been so good to her. He had done his best to put up with her father until she could have cried. Dirk had been hard on him, though Tyr stood his ground; neither had allowed their heated arguments to come to blows, knowing how distressed she would become.

“Thank you for your patience with Daddy. I know he can be a bit difficult at times,” Carrie said.

“A bit!” Tyr snorted. “There was an alligator in

the tropics I came across who had a better temperament. I probably could have had coffee and donuts with it and a more enjoyable conversation, and feared less for my life!”

“I’m sorry, Tyr,” Carrie said with a sad smile, her distressed look settled onto him.

Tyr picked her up and carried her to their bed. “Can we talk about something else besides your dad?” Smiling now at the hungry look on his face Carrie

was eager to comply. “I can think of a much better topic that really requires few words.”

He lay back as she undid the buttons on his shirt.

Her hands roamed over his magnificent chest leisurely, enjoying the feel of his hardness. She felt so safe when wrapped within his arms. Carrie climbed over him to kiss at his nipples for a few moments before suckling gently, drawing a round hard pebble she created into her mouth.

She caressed him sensually over top of his clothing, enjoying it when he groaned. She giggled as he struggled out of his pants, twisting and writhing, while she remained poised upon him, not offering for a second to aid him in his task. When he lay completely unclothed beneath her, she gripped him.

She loved stroking his hardness; she ran the length of her palm from tip to end, amazed something so large and thick would fit into her tight heat. Her moist lips trailed down his hard chest, her teeth grazed at his ribs until she paused at his engorged erection. Her soft breath expelled onto the tip of his head as though warning of her impending invasion. Her tongue flicked to tease and taste and once more she expelled a quick breath of air onto him. Her hand roamed down to clasp him, trapping him for her pleasure.

She could hear his breath quicken in anticipation but she took her time, her mouth only kissed him intimately. He groaned and pushed her head

downwards to take more of him in fully. Carrie smiled. She wasn’t his sex slave any longer, she wasn’t going to do his bidding, she was going to do as she wished, she was going to do what pleased her.

Her mouth closed over him, then retreated; she

blew on him and heard him groan in frustration. She closed her lips around him once again and drew him deeply within her mouth, enjoying his taste, savoring the exquisite feel of him, potent steel surrounded in heavenly satin. Her fingers cupped his swan's egg- sized rounded globes, rubbing ever so softly. Her mouth moved lower to nip at his thigh, allowing her hair to trail a tickling path.

She kissed delicately at the inside of one tanned knee, remembering it was the very first place he had ever kissed her. She marveled at how far they had come since then. Her tongue licked the inside of his ankle and she smiled when he jumped, knowing he was ticklish.

“Carrie,” he said gruffly, and she knew by his

  tone he wanted her.

“Let me play,” she said seductively, once more licking at him, and teasing him.

“Let me play,” Tyr commanded and grabbed her

under her arms, pulling her up.

Tyr removed her clothing, worshipping each area of her flesh as it was revealed, running his hands over every inch of her, tasting every delicate curve, teasing her as she had tempted him. His hands

clutched at her possessively, gripping her to him, groaning as he inhaled her scent.

His mouth fastened onto her bare breast. His lips

nibbled, released, sucked, and released. His hand lowered and soon two fingers found her warm, welcoming wetness.

As his fingers worked their magic, he moved

higher to whisper sweet loving words into her ear of how desperately he wanted her, how much he loved her; how she made him whole and his life complete. Carrie was soon writhing beneath him, begging him to fill her, needing him, no longer interested in play. She accepted him eagerly when he mounted her, penetrating inch by slow inch until he buried himself deeply within her, filling her body, her mind, her thoughts, of him, only him, forever him.

She moved to meet his thrusts as he became more

demanding. His words of love continued. He spoke of how happy he would make her, of the beautiful children they would have, how never, ever, would she be alone or lonely. He wanted her, he needed her and they were a family, together.

“We belong to each other; show me I am yours, my darling,” she whispered urgently, again loving his sweet tenderness, but needing more.

She clasped her arms around his broad back,

pulling him closer. She buried her head against his chest and the unconditional safety he offered. She brought her knees up high, willing every inch inside

her, encouraging him to thump powerfully. He gripped her behind as his words ceased, his breath panted and a wispy smile pulled at the corners of her mouth.

She needed no training, no words, to know he was dominant in the bedroom, though she was happy knowing she had elicited his animal lust. For a brief moment she wondered then, who dominated whom, the one who aspired in the role of elicitation in lovemaking or the one who ended up on top, howling his victory?

“Tyr!” Carrie cried out, gripping him to her

  tightly, then shuddered and stilled.

She felt so fulfilled, her body and heart reveled in her contentment, It was the most glorious of feelings. Tyr lowered his head into her hair. He grasped her to him and rolled to his side, taking her with him. He ran gentle hands down her back to her softly rounded buttocks. He nuzzled at her neck; his lips began their exploration again. Her breath quickened once more and she was amazed to feel him harden so quickly.

“Damn, woman, I just can’t get enough of you!” “Please, Tyr, I’m starving,” Carrie whispered into

his eager face. “Why don’t we get dressed and go out for a bite?” She loved the small restaurants dotted throughout their retreat. She couldn’t help smile at the open disappointment on Tyr’s face. “Or we could eat in.” She almost laughed when he brightened instantly.

“Why don’t we order in? It’s funny, you know. I’m

positive your dad didn’t follow us, but I just can’t shake the feeling we’re being watched,” Tyr said thoughtfully, his brows knit together in a slight frown.

Carrie chuckled softly. “I do believe Daddy is making you paranoid.”

Tyr groaned. “Great. Just what the world needs, a paranoid assassin! Perhaps you’re right, but I’d still rather eat in. I know exactly what we can do while we’re waiting for our food,” he declared.

“Oh, and what’s that?” Carrie asked innocently. “Nibble the hors d’oeuvres,” Tyr said throatily.

He captured her eager mouth to his once more.

  Epilogue

Carrie sat companionably with her sister-in-law, Casey. She and Tyr were visiting once again, as they did frequently. Carrie loved the solitude of her brother-in-law's backyard, the massive white house was perched high on a hill, overlooking a quaint, tiny town.

Carrie had been introduced to their one lone

neighbor, an elderly woman whom Tyr joked was at least a thousand and ten. Later he had informed Carrie the woman was a retired assassin, and Wolf had situated her in the home because she was not only trustworthy and loyal, she could still shoot better than a SWAT sharpshooter.

Carrie had looked at the petite woman and had the strangest notion she had seen her before. Only later Casey had told her in confidence her grandfather hadn’t been the only one to send assassin babysitters on her honeymoon. Carrie had only giggled at the disclosure, thinking Tyr had been right, they had been watched. She wasn’t annoyed with her grandfather or Wolf; she knew both she and her husband were wanted, and loved.

Casey was feeding her baby daughter, Rhea.

Carrie smiled as the baby momentarily removed her mouth from her mother’s breast to grin at her. Carrie loved to hold the child, she loved the fact she was now Auntie Carrie to one special little life. Though her features were dainty, Rhea resembled her father Wolf a great deal.
