Ianthe and the Fighting Foxes: The Fentons Book 4

Georgette gave the wan smile that she always gave in George’s presence, and asked casually (for George abhorred any hint of being compelled), ‘Do you have any clear idea of the persons who are coming?’
‘No,’ said George disobligingly, and picked up a racing journal as a sign of being finished with her. Georgette glided away silently, too frazzled by work exhaustion to find her brother in any way ridiculous today.

Author's Note
Dear Lovely Readers,
This is the next in the Fentons series, and I do hope you liked it! You'll find information about the others in the series and my previous books further on.
A little historical note:
As Ianthe was newly arrived from France, I had an interesting time imagining what was occurring there in 1816 when our story is set.
The monarchy had been restored, although when Napoleon had escaped from Elba he had to flee until the Emperor was again defeated at Waterloo. This period was known as The Hundred Days, and the king then returned to Paris with Napoleon being sent to St Helena, an island much more isolated.
Researching this, I found that there had indeed been a plot to release him even from there, although it was never implimented. I thus made up my own plot, where the coincidental presence of 600 Chinese working on the island might help an escape plan from the inside. On Ascension Island, the nearest island to St Helena, Mr Fenton's correspondant Edward Nicolls was truly the officer stationed, ready to prevent any attempt at rescuing Napoleon from St Helena.
The Alien Office did exist and organised a spy network during the Napoleonic Wars. This was unknown to the public, but as Fenton did some work for them he would have known of it.
Some time blips might have occurred to facilitate the story, and I apologise to historians for my blend of fact and fiction.

After I write and edit the book, after professional editors do their thing, it is sent volunteer beta readers for their thoughts before publication.
I want to acknowledge two of the most dedicated beta readers that a writer has ever known, both of whom have worked on several of my books before publicatiion: Corinne Lehmann and Vivian Mortimer. Their meticulous brains, copious notes and enlightened thoughts keep a space cadet writer like myself in check. All mistakes are my own. (E.g. Corinne sent her notes first, and in making changes, I made mistakes again that Vivian had to correct! Should I now send it back to Corinne then back to Vivian? ad infinitum...)
Ladies, thanks always. It is difficult to say how much I appreciate it.
