Man of the House: An Older Man Younger Woman Romance

Page 55

by Sarah Rowling

With her fingers still inside her pussy, she let out a soft moan, feeling her orgasm peak. She pulled her fingers back, opening her eyes. Sticky fluid washed down her thighs and she took a deep breath to calm her body as the after effects of the orgasm tingled throughout her body.

She sighed and grabbed her shampoo, continuing on with her shower. But she couldn’t get Kasey out of her mind.

The next day was Saturday, and the bakery would be closed. She wondered if it would seem too anxious if she called him that night. Considering how much he had tried to convince her that he was worth going out with, she thought it was alright to call him.

She finished her shower, stepping onto the plush bathmat that sat on the floor. Her long, wet hair was dripping down her back and she wrapped a towel around herself.

Her reflection showed her rosy cheeks from the flush of the pleasure she had experienced. Her blue eyes sparkled.

She went back across the hall to her bedroom and lay down on the bed, still naked.

His business card was on her nightstand and she picked it up. She studied the card.

Kasey Morrison was an electrician who worked for a well-known company in the city. She had seen its logo on different vehicles and signs.

At least he has a career, she thought to herself. Maybe he and his wife, ex-wife, are on good terms.

She picked up her phone, holding it in one hand and the card in another. She glanced from one to the other and set them both down on the bed.

A hundred thoughts rushed through her head, What if he realizes he’s still in love with her? What if he isn’t separated at all? Oh god, what if they have kids?

She sat up, thinking of all of the possibilities that would ruin the connection she felt with him.

But then one last thought entered her mind, Two years alone Victoria, how does another two sound?

She shook her head, picking up the phone again. He was worth the risk.

When she called, he answered immediately.

  Chapter Four

They met the next afternoon at a coffee shop. Victoria didn’t want to go for dinner with him until she had heard the details of his marriage.

He was sitting at a table when she walked in and she went to join him. He looked just as gorgeous as he had the previous day and there were two coffees sitting in front of him.

“It’s great to see you, Victoria.” He said as she sat down.

She noticed that he hadn’t replaced his wedding ring and took it as a good sign.

  “You too, Kasey.”

They stared at each other for a moment as the sexual tension became apparent to both of them. Victoria opened her mouth, trying to figure out how to proceed.

  Kasey began to speak instead.

“I know that you’re wondering about my marriage.” He started, looking into her eyes to gauge her reaction.

Victoria opened her mouth again to speak, but lost her words. She smiled, starting over again.

“Yeah. I mean, I’ve never dated anyone who was still married.” She sipped her coffee, “Or was married at all, actually.”

He nodded, “It’s not incredibly common for a twenty-eight year old man to be on the cusp of divorce.”

She nodded in agreement and propped her elbow on the table, resting her head in her hand. She waited for him to continue.

He sighed, reading her body language, “Well, we got married two years ago. I met her in college and we dated for six years.” He sipped from his cup, watching her as he set it down, “After six years it kind of just seemed like the next step. So we got married and after a year I realized I just wasn’t in love with her.”

Victoria grimaced a little at his tale. She knew what the next part would be.

“So, I talked to her about it and she agreed to try a separation.”

She waited for him to continue, but he didn’t.

“How did she take the divorce?” Victoria asked him, bracing herself.

He looked into his cup, nodding a little, “Not great.”

Victoria’s gaze turned to her cup as well, to try to avoid an awkward moment.

Kasey put a hand on the table, close to her but not touching her.

“Look, Victoria. It’s not like I didn’t try to save my marriage. I did. I didn’t just give up, but it became clear after that first year that we just couldn’t work together anymore.”

Victoria met his gaze and he asked her, “Haven’t you ever had a relationship where the connection just faded?”

She shrugged a little, considering his question.

“Yes, I suppose. But they were never longer than a couple months.” She crossed her arms over her chest unconsciously.

He let his head sink for a moment and then looked back at her.

“Just know that I did everything I thought I could to keep from hurting her.”

Victoria’s heart leapt a little at what he said. She guessed that his relationship with his wife could have happened to anyone. He had just tried to do the right thing but realized that he had made a mistake.

She put her own hand on the table, sliding it closer to him.

“You’re sweet, Kasey.” She said to him quietly, and he grabbed her hand.

“I’m just happy that you decided to give me a chance. Believe me, I understand your reservations. I never thought I would find myself in the midst of a divorce at any point in my life.”

“I’m glad I called you, too.” She replied.

She finished her mug off and waited for the waitress to come around to fill it again.

“When did you open your bakery?” He asked her, releasing her hand.

They chatted for two hours before Victoria picked up her cell phone and realized how long they had been there.

“You’re so easy to talk to.” She said to him, a little surprised.

She didn’t think that someone so young and good-looking would be so approachable. Not only that, but he was kind and generous as well. She had almost expected him to be a little bit of a jerk to her.

She could understand why his wife wouldn’t want to lose him. But Victoria couldn’t help and wonder if she could be with a man haunted by his ex-wife. He told her the divorce hadn’t gone through yet.

She couldn’t help be feel intimidated by the woman that he had been with for the better part of a decade.

Victoria was about to get up from the table when Kasey asked her, “Do you want to join me for dinner tonight?”

Victoria paused, then asked, “Right now?”

  Kasey nodded, “Sure, why not?”

She was going to say no, but after how well the last couple of hours went, she smiled.

  “Definitely.”

The dazzling grin returned to his face as he stared into her eyes from across the table. The dreamy look on his face made her blush a little. She was elated at how interested in her he was.

He got up from the table, extending his hand to her. She took it. He pulled her up, closer to him than he had intended.

She stumbled a little on his foot and he put an arm around her to steady her. Her heart was beating quickly. She looked up at him and he was starting down at her.

She pulled away, clearing her throat.

  “Thank you.” She said, softly.

  Chapter Five

They sat together in a restaurant talking with one another as easily as they had in the coffee shop. Victoria was trying to find things that were wrong with him to keep herself from falling for him so easily. So far, the only reservations she had was the fact that he was still married.

They ate and chatted and before they knew it another few hours had passed.

Victoria marveled at the last six hours. They were quickly finding out how much they had in common. Kasey loved to cook and had a family a lot like hers. They even had the same birthday. Victoria was starting to let herself believe that meeting Kasey was serendipitous.

Nearing the end of their meal, Victoria looked at Kasey for a moment.

  “I know yo
u told me about your marriage but I have to ask you, and if you don’t want to tell me, I totally understand.”

Kasey raised his eyebrows and said, “Ok. Shoot.”

She paused before opening her mouth, “How long into your relationship with…” she looked to the ceiling. “What is her name, I’m sorry but I don’t think that you ever told me.”

“Karen.” He exhaled her name which Victoria noted.

Is it weird, he didn’t mention her name before I asked? We’ve been calling her, her, the entire night, she worried. Maybe their break up is more complicated than he is letting on.

She cleared her throat, “How long into your marriage with Karen was it until you felt that things weren’t right?”

Kasey widened his eyes, a little surprised at the question.

“Um, well I brought up the issues I was having about six months after our marriage. We tried to make things right and six months later we were separated.”

Victoria gave a single nod, considering his answer, “When did things first start feeling wrong?”

Kasey threw his hands up, not knowing how to answer, “That’s tough, Victoria. I mean, I guess once I realized how I felt, I realized that things had been off for years.”

He took a sip of wine, watching her with concern.

“Right. Sorry. I mean, it’s easy to analyze your life in retrospect but…” She stopped, putting her hand on the table again, moving towards his, “I get it.”

  He took her hand again.

They talked for a few more minutes before Victoria said that she had better be going. She didn’t have a good reason to go home alone on a Saturday night, but she knew if she didn’t go home then, she would end up at his place. He was too tempting to resist for much longer.

She got up from the table and Kasey got up with her. She was waiting for him to ask her to come to his place so that she could give decline politely, like she had been practicing in her head.

  But he didn’t.

They got into his car together so that he could drive her back to the coffee shop where she had left hers. Neither of them had suggested driving to the restaurant separately because neither of them had wanted to stop conversing. The flow of their conversation had carried through the last six hours consistently.

She couldn’t believe what a good match they made.

They pulled up to the dark coffee shop that had been closed for nearly an hour. She looked down at her hands in her lap and then to him. He was staring at her.

She swallowed, “Um, thank you so much for dinner. And coffee.” She giggled a little.

He shook his head and sported a bewildered look.

“What?” She asked him with concern.

“This day has just been amazing.” He turned in his seat and put a hand on her knee, “Meeting you has been incredible. I don’t know what else to say.”

She blushed and bit her lip.

“I know, Kasey, everything has gone…” she paused, not knowing how to phrase it, “so well.”

His smile faded and he just looked at her. In his head, he was fighting the intense urge to ask her to come home with him.

It was too soon. Probably, for both of them.

Victoria saw the look on his face and was instantly aroused. She knew what he wanted. She had to get out of there before the tension exacerbated.

“Well, good night, Kasey.” She said, smiling at him a little.

He leaned towards her without saying a word. He put a hand on the back of her neck and brought his lips to hers. She parted her lips, letting his tongue into her mouth and feeling it with her own.

Without realizing what she was doing she brought her hand up, grabbing the front of his shirt to pull him closer. His other hand went to her thigh, grazing up to her hips slowly.

She pulled away from him, quicker than she had intended to, and he was left with surprise on his face.

“I have to go, I’m sorry.” She breathed out, panting.

  He nodded, looking down.

“When can I see you again?” He asked her, trying not to sound desperate for her.

The corner of her mouth lifted up and she smiled coyly at him.

“Tomorrow.” She said, imaging how their next date would unfold.

A smile spread across his face, “Tomorrow it is, then.”

She shut the door of his car, going to unlock her own and watched him pull away.

Tomorrow can’t come quickly enough, she thought to herself, biting her lip in anticipation.

Victoria had just gotten out of the shower and was drying her long hair. She glanced in the standing mirror in her bedroom, noticing the shine of her silky tresses. Kasey was coming to pick her up in two hours, but in anticipation, she started getting ready much earlier than she really needed too.

She had a couple dresses laid out on her bed and she stood naked in front of them. She chose the sexier of the two; a black dress with a low-cut back. She slipped it on, along with lacy black panties and sat down in her living room to wait.

She had been waiting all day to close the bakery and get home. She couldn’t stop thinking about him.

Along with her excitement came a little worry, especially considering how close they were becoming already. The night before, after she had gotten home from an amazing first date with Kasey, she started to worry she was his rebound.

He was just getting divorced and becoming single again, would he want a serious relationship? She had thought that casual would be best but now that she was getting to know him she didn’t want to let him go.

She took a deep breath to calm herself. This was only their second date and she needed more time to get to know him before she got too far ahead of herself.

Much later, Kasey had arrived and she went to let him in. She swung the door open and gazed up into his clear, green eyes. He had flowers for her in one hand and her heart swooned as he gave them to her. It was so traditionally romantic, she was pleasantly surprised.

“You really are sweet,” she said, standing on her toes to peck him on the cheek.

She pulled back an inch and he turned his face to kiss her. Their lips met, sending a shudder through Victoria.

Dinner first, she told herself, pulling back.

“Thank you,” she said as she caught her breath.

She went to put the flowers in some water, inviting Kasey in to her living room. She went to her kitchen, filling a vase, still astonished at his gesture.

He must have been a good husband, she thought, despite completely falling out of love with his wife.

She grimaced a little at the thought, but returned her focus to the beautiful lilies in front of her.

She could see Kasey sitting on her couch. He was dressed sharply and looked as handsome as he always did. His dark hair fell into his eyes and he brushed it away, turning to see Victoria watching him.

“Are you ready to go?” He asked, standing up from the couch.

She nodded, walking into the living room towards him. He ran his eyes over her.

“You look stunning. Even more beautiful than yesterday.”

She blushed a little and grabbed her purse, smiling up at him.

“So, where are we going?” She asked him, opening the front door.

  “I think you’ll li
ke it,” he returned, giving her his sparkling smile.

She loved the place he chose. The previous day, she had mentioned her love of French cuisine and he chose the perfect restaurant with that in mind. He was constantly surprising her with how considerate he was. She tried not to, but she couldn’t help but think about Karen, his soon-to-be ex-wife. She was losing an amazing man.

They ate and spent more time talking. Victoria felt like she had known him much longer than just a few days.

After they finished eating, Kasey leaned back in his chair with his drink and eyed her across the table.

“How is it that you’ve stayed single for so long?” He asked her, with a tone and expression of genuine confusion.

  She shrugged a little, laughing.

“It’s taken me a few years of dedicated work to get my business to where it is now.” She paused to think, “I guess I just never took the time to really date.”

“You haven’t dated anyone in two years?” He said, sounding incredulous.

“No, I have. I mean, a few dates here and there but they never went anywhere.” She took a sip from the wine glass in front of her.

She glanced down at her lap and back up at him, “None of them were anything like you.”

His smile made her heart melt. She meant what she said. All of the guys she had seen in the last couple years were self-involved and dull. Kasey was considerate and thoughtful, every woman’s dream!

But she was still waiting for his wife to come into play. It couldn’t be easy for her to lose Kasey.

They gazed at each other across the table. He frowned at her, looking like he was about to say something but looked away from her. After a moment, his furrowed brow turned back to her.

“Victoria,” he licked his lips a little, “do you want to come over to my place?”

She almost let out a sigh of relief at his question, but maintained her composure. She smiled and extended her foot under the table, grazing his leg.
