  "Ready?" he asked, his hand on the doorknob.

  "Absolutely." I was halfway through the door, when I realized I wasn't quite ready to leave. I made an about-face and returned to my desk, all the while rummaging through my briefcase. Finally, my hand found what I was searching for.

  I pulled out my cell phone and turned it off, then placed it on top of a stack of files in the middle of my desk. And without another word, I headed for the door and freedom.

  Maggie Sefton was born and raised in Virginia, and she received her bachelor’s degree in English literature and journalism from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Maggie has been a CPA and a real estate agent in the Rocky Mountain West, but finds nothing can match creating worlds on paper. Mother of four grown daughters, Maggie resides in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado with a bossy Border collie and a playful Blue Tick Hound.
