Neapolitan Delight Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 33

“I can’t think of two nicer people with whom to embark on this journey. Together, Donut Delights and the Own Tea Shop will bring in new customers and help change the face of Hillside cuisine forever.”
“Hear, hear!” Col boomed and drank deeply from his bottle of green tea.
“To a long and happy relationship,” Mona yelled, though her eyes glistened with tears. She still hadn’t moved past the death of her husband.
The arrest of Edgar Kelaman had brought the pain back for her. It didn’t help she’d have to testify in court about the rivalry the two men had shared.
“Happy 2017!” Heather finished.
The gang cheered and clapped their hands. Jokes and chatter resumed after a few minutes, and Lilly wandered off to Eva’s table in the corner.
Heather’s mind and heart cleared for the first time this week. Pete Boston had been laid to rest. The case was solved, and the new joint venture, genius Eva’s suggestion, had its start.
“Heather?” Amy halted in front of her, a glass of tea trembling in her grasp.
“Hey,” Heather said. “Before you say anything, just know that I understand why you didn’t tell me about Jamie. I understand, Ames.”
“I just –”
“You didn’t want to jinx it.”
“After what happened with Kent and the attention my relationship got in town. I just wanted to keep this one to myself for a while,” Amy whispered. “But you’re my best friend. I should’ve told you.”
“Ames, c’mon. Stop beating yourself up. Our friendship is supposed to uplift us, not tie us down with obligations and fears.” Heather drew her friend into a tight hug. “I don’t blame you. I would’ve done the same thing.”
Amy pulled back from the embrace. “Really?”
“Really,” Heather replied. “Our future is bright, Ames. And the journey has only just begun.”
