Sonia swallowed. "After four years, I think we have a lot of catching up to do."
"Yes, we do."
Chapter 3
Andre did what he could to stay busy. To keep his mind off of Sonia. But it wasn't working. He washed a load of dirty laundry down in the basement. He double-checked the backup generator. He even got the snow blowers and shovels ready just in case the snow piled up faster than was predicted. He tried to stay away from the corner of the cabin where her room was located, but her signature scent was everywhere. Sonia had always smelled of sweet coconuts. He wasn't sure if it was her shower gel or her shampoo, but the smell was driving him to the edge.
When Andre did venture back up to the main level, he noticed the bathroom mirrors were fogged up. She had taken a shower. Her door was closed and very little light escaped. She must have turned in for the night because she wasn't moving around anymore.
Earlier, he knew she'd been in there talking with her dad. To keep from butting in on any private conversations by inadvertently using his keen sense of hearing, he'd gone down to the basement. Now she was inside her room as quiet as a mouse. Probably knocked out. He didn't blame her. She needed the rest after the long drive from Cincinnati.
Content that Sonia was finally comfortable and the cabin was secure for the snow storm, he locked the doors, grabbed a fresh towel and his bath soap and headed into the bathroom for a hot shower.
The tiles and floor were still slightly damp from when Sonia was there. The moment he turned on the hot water and jumped inside, he was hit with Sonia's scent again. This time, his body responded. His cock twitched and his balls tightened painfully. Even after smoothing the soapy sponge over his body, it did nothing to calm the sexual tension shooting straight down through him…out of nowhere, like a freight train.
Andre couldn't remember the last time he'd had an orgasm. Working sixteen hour days and then going home to take a nap, only to get up and do it all over again was what that did to him. But it's what kept him busy. It's what kept his mind occupied, his pockets fat, and his big appetite sated. He simply hadn't had time to think about women in the way he now thought about Sonia. Or maybe no other woman affected him like Sonia did.
Before Andre knew what was happening, his cock was at full attention. He reached down to grip his erection. The creamy soap created thick tension between his grip and his rock-hard shaft. He pumped up and down in even thrusts until his cock stretched to its full length.
Andre immersed himself under the spray of the shower. The streams were now lukewarm, but he didn't care. All he sought was release. As he let his eyelids flutter shut, he thought of Sonia and her sexy body. He even imagined her here in the shower, letting the water spill across her flesh. Her breasts. Her belly. Her luscious ass.
He wondered if her pussy was tight and wet. Did she like being fucked or was she still a virgin? Was she a screamer or did she hold it all inside?
Andre's orgasm surged through him without warning and semen shot from him onto the shower wall and on the floor. There was so much of it…so much pent up tension that his climax lasted longer than usual. His legs gave out before his pumping fists did, and he leaned back against the cold tiles until there was nothing left.
Wasted of energy, he took a moment to catch his breath and then rinsed the evidence of his masturbation session away.
After shutting of the water, Andre made a mental note to check the hot water heater down in the basement and maybe turn it up a notch since they were both staying here. He mopped the towel down his body and then grabbed his running pants off the floor and started to head off to his room.
As he walked out into the main hallway, he caught a flash of long shapely legs coming to a stop around the corner.
It was Sonia standing there with a glass of water and an apple.
"Oh." Her pretty eyes were wide and she looked surprised as she stood there frozen in the middle of the hallway.
Andre hadn't realized that he was bucked-ass naked until he followed her gaze all the way down to his cock. He was still aroused and his semi-erection hung low and heavy between his legs.
"I…" she breathed.
"Sorry. I'm not used to the company," he said.
She covered her eyes. "Oh my God.”
Andre watched as she slid past him in a little tee that barely covered her belly. She wore pajama bottoms that came to mid-calf, but they were fitted to her shapely behind. As she scampered by, all he could manage to look at was her ass.
"I was just going to ask you what you liked to eat for breakfast in the morning," she said. "I didn't know you'd come out of the shower naked."
Sonia licked her pretty little lips and Andre's cock began to rise again.
"I thought that's what people do. Go in the shower naked…and come out naked."
He grinned when her face flushed red. He didn't know what it was, but he enjoyed seeing her reactions to everything.
After sneaking another hungry look at his cock, she tore her gaze away.
"I'll just make hash browns with the potatoes you pulled from the ground," she said, backing up toward her bedroom door.
"Sounds good to me. But you know I'll eat just about whatever you hand me," he said.
"Yeah, of course…" she said, breathlessly, turning the doorknob.
"Do you need anything else?" Andre asked, trying to decide if he should conceal his erection. She seemed to be enjoying the view since her eyes kept darting back and forth over it.
"You, um…it looks like you wanna touch it or something," he added.
She gasped in shock. "I do not."
Andre didn't have to use his wolf senses to confirm that she was lying.
"It's not like I've never seen a man with a hard-on before," she added turning and pushing herself into the room.
She closed the door firmly behind her.
Andre walked all the way to his room grinning. Now he remembered what it was he enjoyed most—teasing her.
But why did it feel like she'd somehow turned the tables on him? After all, he was the one with the raging hard-on…
Chapter 4
Sonia fell asleep with Andre's cock on her mind. And she woke up fantasizing about what his thick and hard length could do for her. She didn't know if it was something in his DNA that made women lust after him. Or maybe it was the fact that no other guy from her past could compare to the sexy Adonis—Andre. She couldn't get his damned flawless bronzed skin from her mind.
Being stuck out in the middle of virtually nowhere in a cabin with her stepbrother wasn't what she had in mind. But now, even stepbrother wasn't an accurate term for what he was to her anymore. She had planned to make it a point to run into him during her visit to Aspen Valley anyway, but what she didn't plan was having to fight her attraction to him.
But four years later, here she was, lying around in bed on the verge of masturbating to the thought him claiming her—and taking the one thing she hesitated to give up. Her innocence.
Feeling the drastic drop in temperatures, she tore off the thick comforter, dragged herself out of the comfy bed, and ventured over to the window. Chills ran up and down her spine and goosebumps rose on her arms as she crossed the small room.
When she looked outside, sure enough, a thick blanket of snow covered the ground. It was still early and the sun was just beginning to rise.
Tired as hell from the drive over, she'd had no problems sleeping through the chilly night. From what she could see, she calculated at least two feet of snow. The power was still on and the heat source was working, but the snow continued to fall, covering the thicket of trees leading out into the woods behind the cabin.
Remembering her promise to make breakfast for both of them, she got dressed and ventured out into the kitchen. Someone had already made a fresh pot of coffee and when she looked outside, she spotted Andre outside in the front yard with a shovel in his hand. Surprisingly, he was layered up and dressed appropriately for the weather. He worked diligently as he shoveled up
and threw loads of snow into a pile. The sidewalk was almost clear and her car had been moved off to the side under a steel carport on the left side of the house.
Sonia thought he was oblivious to her checking him out until he turned to look in her direction, peering intently at the kitchen window. It was as though he'd sensed her presence like magic. She shifted her attention to the basket of potatoes and onions and got to work making their breakfast.
Chapter 5
“That is good. Very good," Andre said, spooning more hash browns into his bowl. He grabbed another sausage link and bit into it.
Sonia grinned. "You were always a big eater. Where do you put it all?"
"I burn calories just as fast as I consume them," he replied.
"Figures." She took a sip of her water and then sat back in her chair. "I remember one time when your mom and my dad first started dating and we were all having dinner. Actually, it was the first dinner date where they invited us to join them. But they talked about the election the whole time. I think your other brothers knew what time it was and how much my dad loved to talk politics. They weren't there that night." She chuckled.
He laughed. "I remember that. The governor's election. I think my brothers made an excuse not to be there."
"But you came…"
He lifted his gaze to meet hers. "Yes, I did. My mom had mentioned that you were making a Cobb salad from the vegetables in your garden. I had to see what that was all about."
Sonia blushed. "I was so young then. I hardly knew what I was doing. Everything was trial and error. I think that was the spring when I realized what I really wanted to do with my life."
"You were lucky. Some of us don't know what we're meant to do until much later in life," he said.
"I might be wrong, but I think you made that decision when you stayed behind with your brothers and in the town you grew up in. You made that decision when you stayed behind to stand up for what you believed in," she told him.
"I did, didn't I?"
She nodded and then got up to take her plates. He joined her at the kitchen sink and helped her with the dishes.
"I listened to the radio this morning," he said, rinsing off the glasses.
"You were up early."
"I'm used to getting up at five. My body is on some kind of internal alarm clock. If I don't have work, sometimes I go for a run and then go back to sleep."
"Speaking of work…I guess I can forget about that internship," she said.
"No, don't do that. All the roads are iced over and they've advised everyone not to go out and drive. Could be days before everything's defrosted, especially out here. Not to mention, it's still snowing heavily. You did call them, right?"
"Yes. The manager assured me that they'd reschedule my interview. She even said there was no way in hell she was driving out to work in the snow either." Sonia laughed. "We talked a bit on the phone too. She's down to earth. I really like her. Hope the feeling's mutual."
"See? Nothing to worry about."
"And your dad? You called him too, right? To let him know that you're okay?"
She bit the corner of her bottom lip. "I did. I promised him I'd call him every day until I got back to Cincinnati. I haven't told him you were here with me."
"Why not?"
She rinsed off a pan and passed it to him.
He dried the pan off, then put it back in the cabinet.
"As much as it would give him a sense of comfort to know that I'm not going this alone, I think he'd have way too many questions about how you got access to the home in the first place," Sonia said. "I don't want to cause any more problems between him and Wanda. The divorce proceedings are already as stressful as it is."
"Might not be too long before he finds out, if he doesn't know already. I told my mom this morning that you were here," he said.
"What'd she say?"
Andre smiled. "She was glad you weren't riding out the storm by yourself."
"I'm glad I'm not alone either," Sonia said. "And I'm glad you're here."
A moment of silence passed between them as she stole a glance at him. She had no brothers or sisters, except for the sibling she never met out in California. She didn't know what it felt like to have one, but even if she did, she could honestly say that she would never feel the same way about them as she did about Andre. In a sense, she knew it was wrong. Wasn't it?
"Um." Sonia pushed off the counter. "Well, I guess we're finished here. I misplaced my phone charger. Would you happen to have a spare one lying around somewhere?"
"Android?" he asked.
"No, iPhone."
"Bummer."
She blew out in exasperation. "I guess I'll rummage through my things again. It's gotta be somewhere."
"Or we can just go get you a new one."
She lifted the curtains by the kitchen window and peered out. "In that?"
He shrugged. "Yeah, all we need are snowsuits and snow boots. The skis are down in the basement. You still remember how, right?"
She grinned. "Yeah. And that sounds better than being snowed in and cooped up inside for the next few days."
"Who said anything about being cooped up inside? Where I'm from, when it snows, we make snowmen. We'll walk to the market. We'll cop you a charger, and then head back before sundown to have a little fun. You game?"
She laughed and nodded.
Sonia couldn't remember the last time she'd even thought of doing something else besides flipping back and forth between social media sites all day. She needed the break from electronics anyway. She'd choose playing in the snow with Andre over being hunched over on the couch any day. All she had to do was pretend that she wasn't attracted to him.
Chapter 6
They went skiing for fun most of the morning until they were almost halfway to their destination. They put up their skis, and then Andre led them into the woods on a path that provided a shortcut to the market.
For the three months that Sonia lived out here, she had never gotten around by walking, but she'd known several of the teenagers her age were doing the same thing. They walked or rode their bikes to the local market instead of driving cars all the way to Aspen Valley to go to the malls and eateries. But then again, Sonia was always suspicious about whether or not the majority of people who lived out here were human or wolf shifters. These days, the population of shifters and humans in Aspen Valley and surrounding areas was almost split fifty-fifty, and that number was only as accurate as the data used to make that conclusion. Many shifters chose not to identify.
Sonia spotted a set of tracks while they were on the trail. She pointed to the ground and said, "We're not the only one's having fun in the snow."
Andre stopped and directed his gaze to the tracks, following it a few feet. Strangely, the tracks were just of the trail as if it were going in the same general direction as they were.
"Natural wolves?" Sonia asked.
"No. Shifters," he answered.
"How do you know?"
Andre paused for a moment, contemplating his reply long and hard. She noted the change in his demeanor and his facial expression as he grappled with something that only he knew.
Finally, he lifted his gaze and met mine. "Takes one to know one."
"Is that a confession?" she asked, quietly.
"I don't know. Maybe I just wanted to know how you'd react."
"If you're asking if I'd think less of you because you're not entirely human, the answer is no. In a sense, I already knew," she said.
His gaze narrowed. "My mom told you."
She shook her head. "Of course not. Your mom loves you. She'd never betray her son by revealing something that she promised not to reveal."
"How did you know then?"
She shrugged. "I want to say it was just a hunch, but then that would imply that you're a stranger. You're not a stranger to me. You're anything but that. I like to think we're more than just two people whose parents were once married happily. We're good friends who understand each othe
r."
"Well then…" he breathed.
She saw his chest rise and fall. He sighed like a great burden had lifted from his shoulders.
"I…uh…I had hoped that I wouldn't scare you away by telling you."
"Scare me?" she chuckled. "I'm not afraid of no wolf. Just know that if you bite me, I'm gonna bite you back."
He laughed and then said, "Fair enough. We're almost there. Just a little more before we get over the hills," Andre said. "Wanna stop here and eat lunch?"
She nodded. "Yes."
They sat on a fallen tree and pulled their lunch sacks out of their bags.
"You know the area really well."
"As you probably know by now, I don't get to work by car or anything like that. I love to explore and get lost sometimes. I love it out here. Better than Aspen Valley that's for sure. It's peaceful and people leave you alone. Wish I could move here permanently."
"I don't see why you can't, you know. I know my dad and your mom are trying to decide who gets the cabin, but I think they'd lay aside their differences and talk about transferring ownership to you."
"Maybe. I was saving up to have something built out here. Could take me another six months before I have the bulk of my down payment, but I'm in it for the long haul. I could always rent too if I wanted to." He shrugged. "But there's a whole lot of land, but not a lot of houses. Not sure why. This part of Tellevue County is so popular because of the land, resources, and seclusion that nothing is really for sale at the moment. Just rental cabins. And the rental business is pretty much dominated by a few families out here. The Lombardis…the Landers…they're probably making a fortune."
"Lombardi? That's the guy my father rents the cabin out to every now and then," she noted.
"Yeah, my mom introduced Luke to your dad. I guess they figured since they had just bought the house before deciding to move, they might as well earn some money back from it."
