Kinky: Three Men, One Collision

by Peter Butler

Douglas had not been to visit his son. Part of him hated what he had done to him, but a much larger part approved. Zac was an expensive, unknown quantity. A time-bomb without a clock to give warning that things were about to get nasty. The restoration of the pool-house had cost Douglas over $100,000. He never bothered to replace the Playstation Racing console and the wraparound, wide-screen monitors that used to give Zac so much pleasure, because by the time Zac would be released from hospital he would be too old to enjoy such toys.

This incredibly severe response to an act of vandalism had been mainly due to one particular part of the work. Ironically it wasn't even on the walls of the pool house, it was done on the side of the mansion. And to say it had troubled Douglas very deeply, would be an understatement. It wasn't the rough characterization of the hand with the middle finger extended, known as the "bird". That was offensive, but Douglas was a lawyer and not easily offended. But the words splattered alongside the childish drawing had been too personal to ignore; they had cut him to the quick.

Scraping them off the wall had turned out to be the easy part - getting them out of his brain seemed impossible. He could still visualize the graffiti and be scarred by its unmistakable meaning:

Lawyers are the only animals that actually smell better when they are dead!

  THE END

A final word from the author.

I hope you enjoyed your time sharing the lives and experiences of the characters of Kinky. I apologize for the descriptions of Larry's stomach problems, I realize many of you would be upset and possibly disgusted by those paragraphs. I know; the visuals I created in my brain when I was writing that section of the book made me a little uneasy, too. But, in the context of Larry's story this was a real, everyday occurrence, hugely heightened by the extreme situation he found himself in. My intention was to try and personalize Larry's problem to give you, the reader, a chance to walk in his shoes (sorry, a tasteless metaphor) so you could, hopefully, understand how all-consuming and life-dominating even a relatively minor mental disability can be. To put it simply: I wanted you to be Larry - rather than just someone observing, and judging a slightly "weird" person.

I have four other published novels - "Buy Me a Dream", "Garrett & Sunny" and "Womanhood" and just released "Dream On" the sequel to Buy Me a Dream. All are available on Amazon.com and members of the Kindle and Amazon subscription services can read some of them for free. For everyone else they retail for a mere few dollars and cost you a small number of cents per hour of reading entertainment.

If you enjoy reviewing books, please let me know via email - I'm always looking for special readers to add to my list of "free advance copy for review" recipients.

Keep reading - I have included the opening of "Garrett & Sunny" for you to get a feel for the story. This is a fun read that lots of people all over the world have enjoyed, some even giving it a lovely review.

Thanks for allowing Kinky to be a small part of your life,

  Peter.

Garrett wakes feeling dreadful, with the added complication that his mind is completely blank about why he feels that way. His day brightens when he finds a pair of panties and a bra on the floor beside his bed - but, the owner of these items is nowhere to be found and he has no memory of the night, seemingly spent with company.

His fumbling attempts to find answers only make matters worse when his overnight visitor, Sunny, returns to the bedroom and catches him in an uncompromising situation.

This "date night-in-reverse" turns out to be a pivotal time in Garrett's life when he realizes his connection with Sunny goes a lot deeper than he ever imagined he could experience.

And so begins the tumultuous, funny and very flirty story of Garrett & Sunny.

New relationships rarely run smoothly and family pressures only add to Garrett's frustration when he has to make an unscheduled trip to Australia on his elderly Gran's behalf. He tries to maintain the momentum of his new relationship but time and distance seem to conspire against him, not to mention the Australian outback, where he finds himself dealing with problems he has little understanding of.

Garrett & Sunny is a fun romp, an adventure story with a romantic core, made lovable with a sense of humor and intelligent wit.

"I loved the humor! I loved the characters! I loved the heart and soul of the story, too!" wrote one of many reviewers. If you are looking for a light, funny, intelligent novel that is filled with natural humor, check out Garrett & Sunny.

If you love funny, intelligent, contemporary fiction with an addictive storyline then Buy Me a Dream is a must read. From the author of "Garrett & Sunny" comes the story of Mark and Sasha and their bumpy journey to fulfill their dreams. "Wow", says Marcus... "...blew me away", says Jason.

This is not your same-old cliche Hollywood story - "Buy Me a Dream" takes you behind the scenes of the music industry and explores the lives and loves of the people who make it happen. Sasha is a singer-songwriter and Mark is a recently unemployed talent manager, two immensely talented people who bring their different talents together to see if magic can be created.

It is a standalone novel, but reader requests demanded a sequel. The result is "Dream On", so, if you enjoy "Buy Me a Dream" you can take comfort in the knowledge that there is more for you to read about Mark and Sasha's lives.
