The Simpleton QUEST

Haffan caught his eye. Am I in trouble?
Yeah…maybe…a little…
Can I still stay here? With you and Jackie?
Of course, this is your home…if you want it to be.
Haffan smiled. Then, as if something important had just occurred to her, she quickly rejoined the conversation. “I just remembered something. Something in those old scrolls.”
“Something about the Prophesy?” Kyle asked.
“Uh huh…the Prophesy of Harkstrong. Harkstrong is actually a Howsh word, not a Pashier one. We took it to mean a place…maybe a location, like a distant city, on another planet. But Harkstrong, in the Howsh language, means something else completely…”
“It means peak, or high tower,” Marzon interjected. “A place high above everything else.”
“That’s kinda cool, Haffan, but it doesn’t really help us,” Kyle said.
Haffan shot him an annoyed expression. “You’re not getting it! Marzon, what’s the highest point on your home planet…on Rahin.”
“That would be the Citadel of the Dead.”
“And what is that?”
“It is located on a distinct small mountainous continent, called the Barren. A place no one is allowed to go to—sacred, well protected, highly guarded,” Marzon said, sounding more than a little proprietary.
“You’re thinking the Prophecy is there…in this citadel place?” Jackie asked.
Haffan nodded. “Yup…could be.”
Jackie glanced at Cuddy. “Find the Prophesy and we’ll save two races of people…billions…you said it yourself.”
Cuddy didn’t answer right away, noting the anticipation on each face. Even Brian looked ready to go. Finally, he offered up, “It’ll be dangerous. We’ll be entering a world where we’re despised. If discovered…”
“We’re screwed,” Tony said.
“Then it’s settled…we’re going to Rahin…right?” Jackie asked.

Acknowledgments
First and foremost, I am grateful to the fans of my writing and the ongoing support for all my books. Can you believe it? Seventeen books published thus far. I am truly blessed to have the people I care about most rooting me on. I’d like to thank my wife, Kim, she’s a good sport putting up with my strange working hours and even stranger scifi what if … questions. I’d like to thank my mother, Lura Genz, for her tireless work as my first-phase creative editor and a staunch cheerleader of my writing. A special ‘thank you’ goes out to L.J. Ganser, who produces the audiobook versions of my books. Anyone looking for a truly immersive—not to forget ‘fun’—reading experience, with all his wonderful character voices, will have to try the audiobook version. Others who provided fantastic support include Lura and James Fischer, Stuart Church, and Eric Sundius.
