Chasing Delia

Jake was out of his mind. He wrapped an arm around her waist to hold her in place as he slammed into her tight heat. Each stroke harder and faster. Her head thrashing from side to side, her little body arching as broken sounds tore from her throat. Pleading, gasping as she thrust up to meet his heavy strokes. He took it all in. Riding on the sensations. He quickened his pace, reaching between their bodies, knowing she was striving toward the divine pentacle always out of reach, until finally in one glorious moment she broke apart.
Shattering, all her muscles clenched, her channel spasmed on his length as she screamed her completion. He barely held back his own, his cock near bursting, growing thicker and longer with each thrust. Shockwaves tore through her quivering body, rippling around his cock one last time and he let himself go. Head flung back, he heard himself cry out as he pulsed against the walls of her womanhood. His fingers dug into her hips, holding her flush onto him. Stars clouded his vision. Heaven. Being inside her felt like heaven.
Her entire body went limp as he fell over her, still deeply imbedded inside her. Still panting from exertion, he tried to pull away, but she wrapped herself around him, holding him tightly. He couldn't complain. He wasn't ready to give up the feeling of being inside her, on top of her, surrounding her, a part of her.
After a long while, in which he was fairly certain they had both fallen asleep for a bit, he eased up onto his elbows. Stroking her silky curls, he looked down on her pixie face, flushed rosy from love making. Her soft gaze was heart achingly tender as his forehead rested against hers. She had the most beautiful light green eyes, the centers flecked with gold. He could get lost in her eyes.
“I have to be crushing you,” he said, his voice hoarse.
“I like you on top of me. Besides I don’t want you to leave me yet.” Her words nearly undid him. So sweet and honest.
“Oh, I don’t plan to.” With that being said, he could feel his cock pulsing and growing to life inside her swollen channel. He gave her a small nudge of his hips, making her eyes go wide. Feeling more sated than he had ever been only a minute ago, his body contradicted itself, filling with a need to possess her over and over.
She gasped, “Again?”
He rolled onto his back, bringing her with him. Once settled he pulled her forward to his chuckling mouth for a kiss. “Don’t you remember when I said I was keeping you in my bed until you were too tired to crawl, let alone walk away from me?” At her nod he said, “Good, I meant it. You’re mine now, my little fox.” He said this as he lightly lifted his hips. Del, now sitting up astride him, gasped her eyes rolling closed for a moment.
“Wha—what about Steven?”
“Camping…for the weekend, remember?” This time he held her hips as he slammed up into her causing, her to cry out.
“I want you as wild as you are making me.” She looked down at him with a sex kitten look that made him even harder than he already was. She pinched her taut nipples as she looked down at him with passion-glazed eyes.
“Are you playing the temptress Del?” She bit her lip and nodded making his cock jerk inside her.
“Kat had this book. It had some things in there you might like.” Her hand ran from her breasts down her soft stomach. He couldn't pry his gaze away as her touch trailed to where they were joined. With just the gentlest touch, she played with herself only a moment before her fingers glided up his stomach to squeeze his nipples. Her fingers playing through his short crisp chest hair. She wore an impish grin and he wondered what she was up to. She gently tugged his chest hair with one fist, her other hand snaked behind her to stroke his testicles, snuggled beneath her bottom.
His eyes rolled back and he arched off the bed a little. “I like,” he groaned.
In a sultry voice she leaned over him. Her lush breasts swayed in front of his face, tempting him like nothing else, while she said, “Well, that’s good Captain Forrester. I’ve been a very naughty girl. Consider me on lock down.” She ground her hips down on him, giving his erection a little pump. Her inner muscles clenched around him, emphasizing ‘lock down’.
That was all it took for him to lose control. He had his little temptress on her back, crying out as he slammed inside her to the hilt, over and over again. His world soared, spinning back up to the heavens once more.

Two Days Later
Delia became uncomfortably aware of her predicament the moment she woke in Jake's arms. Or rather trapped under his heavy drape of manly arm. An arm she was trying hard to lift without waking the man it was attached to. She did not want the added humiliation of him waking to her sneaking out after checking the sheets and leaving a hasty, vague note. Connar had hated if she even mentioned it. She had just left a little star on the calendar or some kind of small sign that let him know it was that time of the month.
She was halfway to freedom when he stirred and stretched, feeling the empty side of the bed next to him. Rubbing his eyes he sat up searching the room until he found her, adding a groggy frown to his face as he watched her step into her pants.
“Del?”
She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. “I gotta go, sorry.”
He had other ideas as he grabbed her around the waist and pinned her to the bed. “Not so fast star shine. Where do you think you’re going?” He playfully nibbled the spot where her shoulder met her neck, rubbing her with his night's worth of stubble. Arousal swift and strong pounded through her overly hormonal system, reminding her of her ever pressing problem.
Whimpering a little she pushed his arm off. “I really have to go.”
“I didn’t think you had to work.”
“I don’t.” The second the words were out she knew she should have just lied.
“Well, then why are you running off, Del? The sun's barely up.”
She dropped her head. Staring at her shoes she mumbled, “I started my period.”
“What? I can’t hear you, Del. What's going on?”
She could tell he was starting to get irritated, and it irritated her that he was getting irritated when she was the one embarrassed. “I got my period.” This came out louder than she meant, but she knew he definitely heard it this time. His face wore a little O of realization.
“Yeah, I don’t have anything here for that.”
“It's okay Jake, I didn’t think you would.”
“Aren’t you. . .” He trailed off making a general wave in her direction. “Did you know? Um, don’t your kind usually come prepared?”
She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the awkward conversation they were having. She felt like a girl scout about to lose a patch. “I didn’t come prepared. I kind of forgot about it. It’s not a normal thing for me.” Never had been, her period seemed to come whenever it wanted to, in no discernible pattern. She'd have it light for a day, it would disappear for a week or two, then she'd have it for a week. Sometimes it would come and go in three days time and it would be two months before she had it again. She always figured it was one of the reasons she couldn’t get pregnant.
“Huh, I thought birth control usually regulated. . .it.”
Her head snapped up. Birth control? “Like the pill?”
He went still. “You are on it, the pill, right? I mean, I’ve never used a condom and you haven’t ever said anything.”
They'd spent the past two days in bed and she hadn’t even thought of birth control. It had been so many years since she had needed to. After years of not being able to conceive, any pregnancy would be a blessing, but she definitely didn’t want to tell him that. Her shocked silence was his answer.
“Well, it’s probably a blessing you got your lady thing then. I haven’t been wearing protection, and I forgot to ask you if you were on the pill.” He scrubbed a hand through his hair as he threw back the covers and grabbed up his pants in jerky movements. He seemed angry and she didn’t know why. Was he angry because they couldn’t have a morning quickie? He wouldn’t even look
at her.
“Jake, are you mad at me because we can’t have sex?”
“No Del, it’s fine. I'm mad at myself. It was irresponsible of me not to have worn a condom. The first time, sure accidents happen. I was thinking with my dick. But then you didn't say anything, and I assumed you'd be on the pill. I haven't been with anyone in two years, and I know you don't sleep around...I figured it would be safe. It was stupid of me, but you’re a grown woman. What the hell am I supposed to think? Women don't usually forget, unless it's intentional.”
She felt like she had been punched in the stomach and it had nothing to do with her period. “That’s what this is about? You think I was trying to get pregnant? What, you think I would dupe you, maybe one up Steven’s mom by getting pregnant with your actual child?”
When he didn’t say anything, just hung his head squeezing the back of his neck in frustration, her own frustration grew. These past couple of weeks she let herself believe that Jake Forrester was different from other men, but he was just the same. He didn’t trust or respect her at all. She thought she was in love with a man that had just lulled her with affection and good sex. When would she learn? Now she was really upset. How dare he lump her in the same category as Steven’s mother.
Grabbing up the rest of her stuff she headed for the door. Not even turning she threw out her parting shot over her shoulder, her voice hoarse with suppressed tears. “You’re a dick Jake, and for the record, I wasn’t thinking about birth control because I can’t get pregnant. Not even if I wanted to. Never could, never will.”

The slamming of the bedroom door punctuated her words echoing through the room and swirling through Jake's thick skull. I can’t get pregnant. No comfort, even hollow comfort, was derived from those words. Those words brought unexpected pain to his chest. For some reason the thought of Del never being pregnant with his child hurt in a way that couldn’t make sense. Not that anything ever made sense when it came to Del. She wound him tight and spun him in dizzy circles, leaving him feeling lightheaded one minute and on top of the world the next.
From the pain in her voice it was obvious she had wanted a baby. Probably tried for years with that bastard of a husband Connar. Now he was the bastard causing her pain. Right now he didn’t feel lightheaded or on top of the world. He just felt like an asshole. A slightly nauseous asshole.
He hadn’t worn protection for the first time in his life. He wanted nothing between them to keep from feeling her walls contracting, milking him as he spurted deep inside her. He hadn’t even asked if she was on the pill. He didn’t care. He knew he should, but this crazy yearning for her caused his chest to puff with pride on the thought of her being pregnant. It was insanity, this animal need to mark her and root his seed.
He had meant to be gentle, carefully making love to her. He had tried to slow down the burning in his veins. Then he had felt her ready wetness and hadn’t been able to stop himself. He had needed to feel her tight flesh around him, and she had been fist tight. He groaned just thinking about it. He should be commending himself for lasting as long as he had.
Knowing it had been a long time for her, he had wanted to ease her into lovemaking. Instead he had spanked her hard and taken her with the single-minded goal of claiming his woman. The second time he had determined to make it last. He was going to love her from head to toe, then she had teased and taunted him in a way so unexpected. His beguiling little temptress was full of surprises and it had driven him over the edge of reason. He felt like that a lot lately.
They spent two blissful days making love. He had memorized her taste, the feel of her coming against his tongue, the way she writhed under him, on top of him, in front of him. He had gloried in making love to her in every room in his house. He was ashamed to admit he had even taken her on the stair landing, unable to make it to his room. His balls ached from coming so frequently, yet the sight and scent of her only proved to make him want her more. He didn’t understand this savage reaction and knew in his gut it ran deeper than being without a woman for over two years.
He could be at work or just in another room, and tightness would seize his chest. An unexplainable fear caused him to seek her out just to touch her and breathe in her familiar scent. He had to assure himself that she hadn’t disappeared, only then would the raging anxiety calm. He experienced this same anxiety when Chey threatened to take Steven away, but this was even more brutal. He could protect Steven from Chey. He didn’t know how to protect Del from herself, and he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. What had he just done, and how was he ever going to make it better?
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Delia felt beaten down. A lone tear trickled down her cheek and she didn’t even bother wiping it away. A little gray cloud followed her home from Jake's, along with a headache and stomach cramps. She just wanted to go upstairs, crawl in bed, and forget this morning ever happened. That way she didn’t have to deal with Jake being a contrary man, or the fact that she was as weak and pathetic when it came to men as her mama.
She was so lost in misery she didn’t notice the man leaning against the railing on the landing in front of her apartment door, watching her as she walked up, until she was right in front of him. Looking up into the face of her ex-husband, her day went from bad to worse.
“Connar?”
“Aw, baby, yeah, it’s me.” Connar swept her up in a big hug, burrowing his face in her neck as she stood stiff. Paralyzed in shock with her arms down at her sides. Connar pulled back and wiped the tear off her face with his thumb.
Connar. Here. Gazing down on her with a stupid look of adoration he hadn’t worn for her in years. He was talking, but it took a full minute for her to be able to hear anything other than buzzing in her ears.
“...I knew it was a mistake as soon as I saw her in bed with my good friend Jet. Fortunately I stopped the papers just in time. I knew you would be waiting for me. I understand you selling the house. You were right to be angry, but I’m here now, and everything is going to be all right baby. No more crying. Let’s get your stuff and I’ll take you home. We’ll have to stay at my parent’s place 'til we can get another place, but it shouldn’t take too long. Mom says a cute little bungalow just around the corner from them was up for sale.”
Connar had held her encircled in his arms but when he moved to steer her into her apartment she finally snapped to, trying to digest everything he just said, and finding it unpalatable. Stepping back she pushed his hand off her.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” That got his attention. Now he was the one gaping at her. The old Delia that he knew would have never have used such language.
“Delia, what’s gotten into you, honey?”
“What’s gotten into me? Are you joking Connar? Have you forgotten your love child or your Korean whore, love of your life for the past two years? Forget about that? There is no taking me home. I am home.”
He had an incredulous look on his face. “I just told you the kid wasn’t mine. Do you want me to grovel? Is that it? Well, I’m sooorrrry. I didn’t really love her, but I thought I was finally going to be a father. Then I caught Ling screwing Jet and I knew that kid wasn’t mine. Turned out Ling was just using me to get to America. As soon as I told her my plans to stay in Korea she let me know who the kid’s real daddy was. Sad thing is it wasn’t even Jet. I thought to myself, ‘Delia would never have played me like that. Not my sweet Dels.’ That’s why I stopped the divorce papers from being processed.”
“You what?” She was sure her eye was twitching. She could feel a red haze of anger and panic sweeping over her. “Are you telling me we’re still married? How? I turned those papers in myself!” Oh God, she was going to be sick. This day was getting worse by the second.
“Yeah, and you would know that if you hadn’t taken off so fast. My dad told me you packed up and split, leaving them to sell the house.”
She could feel herself shaking, her fury so great. How dare he cheat on her, rip her heart to s
hreds, show up in her new life and cry, “whoopsy”.
He must have seen the flare of rage in her eyes. He backed up a step as she poked him the chest.
“You are either the stupidest man alive, or you have balls of steel. I’m thinking it’s the first one since you haven’t been able to stand up to anyone but a poor, broken little girl, in your whole pathetic life. Get those divorce papers processed, then get the hell out of my life. I never want to see you again. I never want to talk to you. Don’t come here again. Don’t contact me. Hell, don’t even think of me. You double crossing Son. Of. A. Bitch!”
“Damn Delia, you’ve changed.”
She let out a huff of a laugh.“I’ve grown quite a spine since you left. I should thank you, that letter was the wake up call I needed. You never loved me, and the truth be told I never really loved you. Not the real you, because the real you is pathetic and weak and completely lacking honor.”
“Spine? Is that what they're calling bitch these days? You’re lucky I’m finding this sassy act kinda sexy, and I’ve been missing you so much. Imagine my surprise when I get home and you are nowhere to be found. It took forever to track you here. I’m tired and ready to go home. Go get your shit and I’ll try to forget your little tantrum.”
She couldn't believe what she was hearing.“Go to hell, Connar!”
His eyes turned colder than she had ever seen. Something snapped inside him, contorting his face. “I said, get your shit, now!” Grabbing her arm in a punishing grip he propelled her forward toward her door, giving her a hard shake and snapping her head around like rag doll when she started struggling. Pulling his arm back his open palm cracked across her cheek, momentarily stunning her.
Her face stung. She watched in horror as he pulled back his arm to do what she had never thought him capable of doing, a second time. A large hand wrapped around his forearm swinging him around right into Jake's fist.
Connar’s face snapped in slow motion. Blood sprayed from his face, spattering the ground. With a roar, Connar whirled back around. He body slammed into Jake tumbling them down the stairs. Fists flew from both men as they fell in a tangle all the way down. Jake gained the upper hand, somehow grappling Connar face down. It was only seconds before Jake had Connar’s wrists handcuffed behind his back, while she stood stunned at the top of the stairs.
