A Handful of Wolf

Megan wound both arms around his neck and pulled him close for a kiss. He had to tell her now, before instinct took over and he pinned her to the bed. “Megan, Cariad.”

Her breathing was rapid, he heard her pulse skittering. “Yes.” It sounded like a squeak.

Still he hesitated. He knew the words were absolutely right, but he worried about blurting them out. Mentally crossing his fingers for luck, he framed her cheek with one hand, caught her attention and smiled with a confidence he didn’t feel. “I love you, Cariad.” I’m scared you won’t take me seriously. “I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy.” She opened her mouth to reply, but he touched her lip and shook his head. Don’t shoot me down in flames. Not yet. “I know it’s too soon, but you need to know what you mean to me.” He hesitated. “We’ll work it out. You’re here, so I know you feel something, we just need to figure out the details.” He ground to a halt, helpless with longing and unsure if he was on the verge of another fuckup.

Megan pushed his hand away from her mouth and pulled him closer, reaching up for a kiss. “Sasha,” she whispered against his lips, “This is big and scary, and I’m not sure what the hell I’m doing, but I know one thing.” Her eyes widened and her breath hitched, He tangled their fingers together and hoped. A smile emerged. “I love you too.”

  Chapter 29

Sasha’s wolf rolled over and over, giddy with happiness and for the second time that day he wanted to punch the air in triumph. There was something more important first though and he couldn’t wait any longer. He had too many clothes on. The T-shirt went first, hauled over his head. The jeans dispensed with. He helped Megan to peel the tiny panties down her legs and then he reached for the new box of condoms he’d bought. His fingers were clumsy removing the cellophane and he ended up ripping the box apart in his haste to get inside.

“Let me.” His Mate plucked the shredded carton from his hand and extracted a single foil packet. “I’ve never done this before. You know, put it on.” He helped, and showed her how to smooth it across his heated cock, making sure it fit snugly.

  “Another first. I’m honored, Cariad.”

This wasn’t their first time together, but it was special, and when he stared deep into her eyes he saw her love reflected back at him. Jesus, he was a lucky bastard. How close he’d come to not meeting her, and then to losing her, and now to be here with her in his bed. In his life. His wolf pushed him, impatient, and he acquiesced. He kneeled over her and indulged a little longer in the delight of her silky, soft skin, petting and stroking, sampling with his mouth and loving her more with every touch.

His dick ached and he could wait no longer. Easing into her on a smooth glide was a form of exquisite torture. Hot, slippery and incredibly tight, she gripped him, sending a series of tremors up his spine. God, he would never tire of this, of her. Every push drew a gasp, every time he slid out, she moaned. He wanted more. Slipping his hands under her gorgeous ass, he lifted her and his next thrust went even deeper. “Sasha,” she whispered, “that feels so, so…” In-fucking-credible? He rocked back and forth, picking up his speed with his wolf urging him on.

Megan wrapped her legs around his waist and now his hands were free. He tangled his fingers through hers with one hand, the other tunneled into her hair. He couldn’t touch her enough, he wanted to be everywhere. He nipped her earlobes and nibbled the side of her neck. The taste of her skin was like a drug to his wolf, and he craved more.

“Sasha,” she whispered again, squeezing him tight inside and out, “I’m close, baby.” He had a moment of clarity and then instinct took over again, pumping into her and stealing her lips, again and again. Megan was making little mewling noises and he knew she was nearly there. It was an almighty struggle, but he stopped, sucked in a ragged breath, and slipped out of her, kissing away her surprised cry. He needed to place her Claiming mark again. It had faded from her skin.

“Turn over, Cariad.” He was breathless, and oh God, if he thought she was amazing from the front, taking her from behind was mind blowing. He shook with the force of holding back, and tried to slow down. Her skin was damp, slicked with perspiration and sweet as the caramel of her scent, and his fingers danced up her spine making her tremble. Was there anything better than this? He held her close, one hand playing with her breasts, the other teasing her clit and making her squirm and grind against him. The moment he sank his teeth into her she arched her back, and tightened impossibly around his cock, crying his name as she came. He was already battling his own climax and this tipped him headlong over the edge, pumping until he was spent, physically as well as mentally.

Long moments later, he curled around her, exhausted, yet excited. He felt his cock twitch as he spooned against her ass and chided himself. She was asleep. There was time. They had all the time in the world.

There were decisions to be made, but at least he could go back to Wellington with her if she couldn’t stay this time. Connor would ensure he had a work permit and Jake had been enthusiastic about the idea. Not for ever, but for a year or two. He’d planned to be part of Tammy’s crew when she started work on the Pack Retreat this spring, but he knew she’d understand if he went overseas. Mates came first, and she had that to look forward to when she found her own.

Sasha admired the Claiming Mark on her neck again, and dropped a tired kiss over it. Megan stirred in his arms. “Sasha, can I ask you a question?”

He kissed her nape before answering. “You can ask me anything.”

“Uh-huh.” There was a pause and so he kissed her some more. “If we wanted to, in the future, would we be able to have babies? Or does that not work between wolves and people? It’s not important, I just wondered.”

He felt like his heart was going to explode with pleasure. “We can have babies, Cariad, as many as you would like. They might be shifters, they might not. It kicks in at puberty.” For most wolves, at any rate. He thought again of Tammy, his beloved twin. For some reason, one they’d never understood, she’d never been able to shift. They didn’t love her any less or treat her any different, but he knew she felt less of a wolf because of it. An outsider. Perhaps if she found her Mate it would help? “We will love them no matter what.”

She’d gone back to sleep and he closed his eyes to join her, his thoughts consumed with the Kiwi girl who’d stolen his heart and how he planned to tell her that, every day of their life together.
