Without the prompting of many people, this story would still be residing on a backup drive where I stored it after writing it while my husband was in law school and I spent about sixteen hours a day alone after getting laid off from my job. Indeed, I have probably forgotten half the people who persuaded me this is a story worth letting others read. Call me crazy, but I have to thank my cats as well. They lie on my desk, entice me away to play, and just offer me cuddles when I need to calm. In memory of my foot-warmer, Tangelo, who was taken from me much too young, to Chili Pepper, my most faithful desk-sitter, and to Ford, for coming into my life with such youthful exuberance, even if that means I often end up with weird messages in the middle of my manuscript from your attempts to help me write. Most of all, I thank my husband, who solves my computer issues and is the reason I can write romances with sincerity.
