“You made a fair number of promises,” Millie said with a laugh. “I hardly believe he went through all that nonsense.”
“Not enough. I have another pledge for you that he didn’t ask for.”
Millie lifted her eyebrows. “What more would you say?” Her voice was sultry, smooth as calm waters.
Edwin’s arm slipped behind her on the carriage seat. His lips touched her ear. “I promise to love you for all of our days and every minute.”
Millie touched his cheek. “I think you should take me home. We should get started on that.”
About the Author
Jo Noelle is a Colorado native but lived in several other mountain states--Idaho, Utah, and California. She has two adult children and three small kids. She teaches teachers and students about reading and writing, grows freakishly large tomatoes, enjoys cooking (especially desserts), builds furniture, sews beautiful dresses, and likes to go hiking in the nearby mountains.
