Terra felt Nathan’s presence. Smiling, she hurried to the door and pulled it open.

Nathan stood with one fist raised to knock, his eyes wide with surprise.

“Come in.” She pulled the door open.

Nathan shook his head and smiled. “So, there are some lingering effects from your ordeal.”

“Looks that way.” She nodded toward the kitchen. “I was just fixing tea. You want some?”

“Your company is all the elixir I require.” In one motion, he slipped off his jacket and draped it over the edge of the sofa, then followed her into the kitchen.

Terra took a mug from the cabinet, unwrapped a teabag, and dropped it in. She stood with her back to the rest of the kitchen, waiting for the kettle to whistle. She wanted to ask Nathan where he’d gone after she left the hospital, but she wasn’t really sure she wanted to know the answer. All inquiries into the real identity of Austin Williams had been dead ends. Somehow, she suspected that she’d never see Austin—Eric—again. Remembering the way he looked as he closed the door on her in the warehouse, that thought didn’t bother her.

Although she knew Nathan was close, his hand on her shoulder caused her to jump. He ran his fingers down her arm, then placed a gentle kiss in the side of her neck.

“Are you wearing a new perfume, my sweet?”

  “No.”

“You smell delicious.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her shoulder more adamantly.

Terra smiled at the shiver his attention caused, and pressed herself into him, a little surprised by the bulge of his hard-on pushing against her buttocks. Nathan was large to begin with, but he seemed to be sporting a monstrous erection tonight.

  “Missed me, huh?”

He laughed softly. “More than you can imagine.”

With the vibration in her belly spreading through her body, she closed her eyes and leaned her head back against his shoulder.

He caressed the front of her body with the expert touch that could only be produced by centuries of practice. How could she ever expect to enjoy a mortal man as much? As his cold fingers cooled the burning skin under her shirt, she groaned. He ran his hands up to her breasts and rubbed both nipples tenderly, easing the hardening nubs around in circles as he moved his mouth to her ear.

“You, my dear, are more of a treat than I deserve.”

She reached back and traced the bulge in his pants with the back of her fingers as Nathan slid one hand down into her warm-ups. He scratched his nails up the outside of her panties, and Terra’s knees shook.

Nathan held her around the waist, pulling her back to him, and eased his hand inside her panties. He licked a line up the side of her neck as if savoring her skin, then slid his fingers gently into her crotch.

  Terra gulped.

As his fingers ran over her cunt, she felt him spreading her juices in a slow circle.

“Yes,” he said softly, obviously as surprised as she was at her quick response. “Perhaps you have missed me, too.”

  She smiled.

His stroked her slowly, deliberately, until she whimpered, then his eased his fingers into her waiting cunt. Terra reached back, grabbed the side of his pants in her fist and pulled him closer as desire mushroomed inside her, lighting a fuse that ran up the backs of her thighs.

“Damn, Nathan,” she breathed, “that feels great.”

He locked his mouth onto the top of her shoulder as he slid his fingers deep into her and withdrew them, synchronized to the rhythm of her body rocking against him. She waited for the prick of his teeth, her body trembling in expectation.

Instead, he continued his sensuous strokes, tightening his hold on her waist.

Suddenly, more than her body met his—her thoughts reached out for his and found his desire, and hunger, and tenderness. She felt the beast, but wasn’t afraid, and she felt Nathan in a way she never had before. For a long, sensuous moment, they were fused into one being, wrapped in lust.

Terra pushed against the counter with one hand and reached up to clamp the other around Nathan’s neck as her body stiffened, every muscle swelling with the promise of release. Her breath came in short, fast bursts. “Oh…God…I’m…coming.”

Her body exploded with pleasure, sending her head back again as she cried out, release lifting her from the ground into a haze of ecstasy. On and on the pulses went, shooting through her. She clamped down on Nathan’s fingers and arched her back with each, unable to stop.

He continued without mercy, pulling more waves of release from her body than she thought possible, until she felt as if her very soul would burst.

As her senses finally returned, she found Nathan’s palm pressed against her cunt, his arms cradling her, his lips curving into a smile against her skin. It took a full minute to realize that the scream filling the air wasn’t her own, but steam blasting through the kettle’s whistle.

Panting, Terra turned off the stove, then dropped her head back to Nathan’s shoulder again. “Okay, I’ll admit it. I missed you, too.”

  “Indeed,” he whispered.

  “Want to sleep over?”

He chuckled. “Sounds quite tempting, my dear. However, I don’t wish to overtax you on the road to recovery.”

Terra turned to face him and found his eyes glowing a soft blue. His fangs dented his bottom lip as he smiled at her.

She raised her arms to encircle his neck and laughed. “I can’t believe I’ve fallen for a vampire.”

“Trust me, my pet, you are just as much of a surprise to me.”

  “Oh?”

“Yes. And I’m old enough to know better.”

She laughed again as she leaned into him and rubbed herself against his hard-on. “I’ve quite recovered, you know.”

  “Have you?”

“Oh, yeah. I think I can even spare a half a pint.”

  He raised one eyebrow.

Leaning back enough to focus on his face, Terra frowned. “Nathan, seriously, what will happen to us in the future? I mean, when I’m old, you’ll still be just the same. The thought of you leaving scares the shit out of me. What-“

He silenced her with one finger against her lips, then scooped her into his arms. “My dear Terra,” he said, as he strolled to her bedroom, carrying her without any hint of effort, “I plan to enjoy one or two more of your delightful orgasms before this night is over. Let’s discuss the future at another time, shall we?”

  She smiled. “If you insist.”
