SNEAK PEEK AT PLAYIN’ DIRTY
Prologue
Jesse
I’ve watched her get walked on, over and over again, still she goes back for more. This is the second time I’m witnessing the shithead, she calls a boyfriend, with his arm around a blonde that is definitely not Maddie. Fuck…what am I going to do? Yes, I am the asshole that didn’t tell her that I saw him the first time and now this. It’s not for a lack of trying though, I’ve hinted, never coming right out and saying it. I’ve been trying to spare her feelings, thinking she needs to see it with her own eyes. You know the saying…seeing is believing. Tonight might just be the night that changes everything.
Feelings have developed for Maddie that I didn’t know I was having until they slapped me right in the face. Unfortunately, that happened when I overheard her telling her girlfriends about this great guy she started dating. But I won’t fuck up our friendship, so for now, I’ll sit back and wait until she realizes it all on her own, she’s dating Mr. Wrong and could have Mr. Right, who is standing in front of her. We’ve become close over the last couple of years, and seeing her hurt is going kill me, but at least she’ll finally see what kind of guy he really is.
Tonight is Wednesday, our weekly dinner date. We’ve been meeting here for the last six to eight months: same time, same night, same place. It’s seven o’clock and any minute she’ll be coming through the door.
Justin, her so-called boyfriend, is sitting in the far corner of the bar when she walks in. His back is to her, so she doesn’t notice him and he doesn’t see her either. If I point him out to her right away, I could look like a jackass…though if I don’t point him out to her, I’m definitely going to look like a jackass so, pretty much by the end of the night I’m going to be fucked.
She looks incredible, as always. As her tiny frame comes closer to me, I’m not the only one in the bar that takes her in for a moment. I see heads turn and a few guys nod in her direction. Her long blonde hair is pulled back into a ponytail that hangs to the middle of her back, and the smile on her face goes all the way up to her light blue eyes. Grinning back at her, I glance at her entire body and stop at her legs, which are exposed in the cargo shorts she’s wearing. Damn…there are no other words.
“Hey, Cupcake, how are you tonight?”
“I’m good. You been here long?”
“Nah, got here a few minutes ago,” I say, as the guilty feeling starts to set in.
We sit at the bar like we always do, ordering our food and drinks when there is giggling coming from across the room. My eyes travel to the sound then back to Maddie. She glances over once, twice, and then a third time, before she starts to slide off her stool.
Walking behind her, I follow closely. I’m not sure how this is going to end, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be good.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me out with the book. From Pink Ink Designs that made my beautiful cover, Karen Hrdlicka that edits and puts her special touch to all my words, Juliana Cabrera who formatted it, making it look pretty on the inside as well, to my book friends that help me out. And of course to my family, for the understanding of my late night writing sessions. I couldn’t have done any of this without you all.
To the reader of this book, thank you for continuing to believe in me and my stories. There is so much more to come.
