“Aye, in about six months.” Meggie wrapped her arm around him as both men clapped him on the back. “Diana’s father has designed a cottage for us. It should be built by then. Our own house finally. We thought to borrow Campbell for some of the carpentry. He did a nice job on that bed of yours.”

“’Twould be an honor,” Campbell said.

“You’ll be a wonderful father, Sam,” Meggie said.

“If I stumble a bit, I know where I can find a bit of help.” He glanced once again between them, then studied MacGregor. “I thought for a while you’d lost your mind. Is this what you envisioned that day on the dock?”

“Not quite as idyllic as this. I thought I’d be dead by now.” Meggie gasped, and MacGregor slid an arm around her waist. “’Tis true, love, and well you know it.”

“I thought I’d be dead by now as well,” Campbell said with a laugh. “Though I suspected there would be a bit of murder involved.”

Meggie threw up her hands. “Am I the only one who envisioned a happy future?”

Both men’s jaws dropped. Campbell began to stutter as Sam burst into hearty laughter. He dropped a kiss on the top of her head.

“Our little Meggie has tamed a dragon and helped a man back to the land of the living. How could anything but happiness come from that? Now that you’ve wedged yourself between two Highlanders, what do you plan to do with them? They’re stubborn as they come.”

Meggie lifted her face to his. “I plan to love them, Sam. Just love them.”

Sam glanced at the baby’s face and ran his finger under Duncan’s chin. “Well, my wee babe, you’ve caught yourself a hell of a family of sorts. I hope you’re prepared to deal with this lot of thickheads. Life may never be normal in this cottage, but it will always be filled with love.”

Meggie smiled. “And many, many tomorrows.”
