To hear him tell it, she was a sex goddess in her prior life. And she was starting to suspect those tales might be to make her want to live up to that reputation. If that was her handsome new husband’s motivation, though, Maddie would greatly enjoy trying to do that.
Hawk led her to the edge of the dance floor, then stopped to tip up her chin to loud whistles and catcalls from the crowd. “I love you, Maddie Hawkins, and no matter what happens, I’ve got your six, baby. Relax.”
Maddie swallowed hard and nodded as he took her hand in his and put his other at her waist. The music started, her heart pounded in her ears, and she stumbled when she heard the first notes of the song.

Maddie’s eyes filled and she forgot about counting her steps. She stumbled again and knew she looked like a fool, but suddenly her feet left the floor and she floated in the arms of the most charming and romantic man on earth.
I would fly you to the moon, if you asked me to, so we could be together and find peace.
Rhett Hawkins didn’t have to fly her to the moon, or anywhere else. She knew exactly where to find her peace. In this man’s arms.
