Guardian Angel Trilogy

by John Davis

We will not forget what happened here, and we will never allow future generations to forget. Failure to study history sentences you to repeat it – and that cycle ends with me. Through my prayers, I know my purpose in life is to begin preparations for the next great war. It always has been.

As we begin rebuilding our world, I may eventually find time to begin writing of our struggles and triumphs. Until that day comes, please never forget what happened here. One November day in the year of our Lord, 2087, a race known as the Ancients descended onto our planet.

Without a first message between our leaders, they began a relentless assault onto our people. Now, what remains of humanity – we will study our foes carefully. Design weaponry to fight them more effectively the next time around.

In the end, humanity will prevail. Our desire to live on will always best the confidence and aggression of this alien race. They should have killed me when they had a chance. In taking everything from me, they left me with but a single purpose. Revenge.

  And I will have mine.

If not for myself – for the small child which grows inside of me. I could not protect Jackson when it mattered, but I will protect his child when the time comes.

I will be his or her guardian angel.
