Creepin' 2: A New Orleans Love Story Page 9

“Why would you say something like that Rainey? And what tape are you referring to Mia?” Von asked sounding hurt. “You girls and Tank are like sisters and brother. This breaks my heart to see y’all fighting and carrying on like this. We could have sat down and talked about whatever problems y’all were having like a family.”

“Fuck Mia! She ain’t no family of mine,” Rainey screamed to Von’s surprise. “Everything is not always about her. It’s not my fault that she had fucked up parents. The world does not revolve around Lamia Walker.”

“Von you better get that lil bitch before I let Mia tag that ass again,” Nina said angrily.

Nina didn’t care that her man and Rainey’s father were best friends at one time. Rainey was being disrespectful, and she wasn’t feeling that. Lamar didn’t engage in petty female drama, but Nina didn’t mind. Whatever problems Rainey and Mia had were all on them to work out. Rainey shouldn’t have said anything about Mia’s parents. That was a cheap shot in her opinion.

“Go to the bathroom and clean yourself up, Rainey. We need to sit down and have a serious talk,” Von instructed.

He hated to hear how Rainey felt about Mia, and he hated to see his two favorite girls fighting most of all.

“We don’t have shit to talk about. Mia was always your favorite anyway. You probably won’t even know that I’m gone,” Rainey spat.

“That is not true,” Von shouted. “I’ve always treated you and Mia equally. I never did more for one than I did for the other. Where is all of this coming from Rainey?”

“You never treated us equally. You’ve always favored her over me and it always showed. Everybody picked up on it, but you were in denial. It’s cool, though. I’m done with all of this drama in my life. You won’t have to worry about me anymore,” Rainey promised.

She grabbed her purse and headed to the front door with Von and her friend hot on her heels. Brandis grabbed Mia and pulled her into one of the spare bedrooms in the back.

“Bitch you are crazy,” Brandis whispered to her girl. “Didn’t I tell you not to say anything to her?”

“I didn’t say anything to her. I just silently beat that ass. I kept my promise because I didn’t open my mouth,” Mia said seriously.

Brandis burst out laughing, but Mia didn’t crack a smile. She seemed to be satisfied with the events that just took place as she sat down on the bed and pulled out her phone. Mia knew that Von would be coming to talk to her soon, and she was prepared for the lecture. She was hoping that he didn’t bring up what Rainey said about her and Tre because she wouldn’t know how to explain things to him. She hated to act out and show her ass in front of Von and his company, but she couldn’t help herself. In her mind, Rainey tried to punk her by showing up there in the first place. If she never knew it before, she definitely knew it now. Rainey hated her, but she didn’t know why. Honestly, she really didn’t care at this point. Just like Tre, this would be a Thanksgiving that Rainey would never forget.

“Ahhh shit!” Mia screamed and panted as the room spent out of control.

She’d been screaming and hollering so much that she was getting hoarse. She was on all fours in her king sized bed while Ricky had his entire face buried deep within her cookie jar from behind. Moonie was out with her friends, and the kids were staying the night with Mitch. Since Cheryl was at Von’s house, Mia planned to spend her Saturday night at home relaxing, but Ricky had other plans. He asked her if she wanted to chill and watch movies, and she happily agreed. Before Mia even had a chance to pick a movie from her Netflix collection he was pulling her out of her clothes. It had been months since she had any kind of physical activity, and she didn’t put up a fight. She really wasn’t ready to be intimate with anyone right now, but she didn’t deny him of his dessert. And by the way, he was sucking and slurping he must have been enjoying it just as much as she was. Almost an hour had passed, and he was still going at it like he couldn’t get enough. Although Mia was loving how he made her feel, she didn’t know he was as much of a freak as he was. She’d been with Tre for over a year and he never even came close to putting his mouth anywhere near her back door and that was fine with her. He went down on her more times than she could count, but he never went that far with it. Ricky, on the other hand, had his mouth and tongue all over the place reminding Mia to never kiss him again. He was cool, but they hadn’t known each other that long for him to take it there, not that she was complaining.

“Stop running,” Ricky mumbled with his mouth still attached to Mia’s goodies. He grabbed Mia’s hips to stop her from squirming, but that didn’t really help much. She felt drained, and a good nap was definitely in order.

“I can’t cum no more, that’s enough,” Mia panted trying to push his head away. Fuck tapping out, she felt like she wanted to pass out, but he kept going.

“Yes you can,” Ricky said flipping her over on her back. Before Mia could push him away, his mouth was on her again. It was like her pussy was a magnet that kept drawing his mouth right to it.

“Ricky stop, please,” Mia begged weakly. She was so happy when her phone started ringing again. It had been ringing for the past half hour, but she ignored it. She was ready to answer it now. She needed some kind of distraction before her bed mate literally sucked all of the life right out of her.

“Who is blowing up your phone like that?” Ricky asked while coming up for air.

“I don’t know, but I need to answer it and see,” Mia replied.

She hurriedly scooted away from him and rested her back on the headboard of her bed. She grabbed her phone, but it had already stopped ringing. She scrolled through her missed calls and saw that Jabari and Tiara had called her multiple times. When she saw two missed calls from Dalvin she knew that something had to be wrong. He never called her phone and the only reason she had his number saved is because Moonie told her to.

“We’re not done so don’t get comfortable,” Ricky said smiling at her.

When he started taking his clothes off Mia wanted to tell him that he was wasting his time. The oral roller coaster was fun, but that was as far as she was willing to go. Sex was too complicated and she found that out the hard way with Tre. She put her heart on the line only to have it broken by the only man that she loved. Mia was getting ready to call her brother back, but he was calling her again before she had a chance to dial his number.

“What’s up Jabari?” Mia asked when she answered the phone.

“Mia where the hell are you?” Jabari yelled back.

“I’m at home. Why are you hollering at me like you’re crazy?’

“It must be something important if I keep calling your stupid ass,” he spat angrily.

Mia let the stupid comment go because obviously something was wrong. The butterflies started doing their dance in her belly just like they did every time when she was scared. She dreaded hearing the answer, but she asked the question anyway.

  “What’s wrong Jabari?”

“Moonie is in the hospital. Dalvin called me a little while ago, but I had to get the okay from my boss before I left work. I’m on my way up there now.”

“Oh God Jabari, what happened?” Mia asked as she jumped up and started putting her clothes back on. Ricky was looking at her like she was crazy, but he could kick rocks for all she cared.

“I don’t know what happened. I could barely understand what he was saying. Where was Moonie at and where are the kids?” He asked sounding worried. Mia ran down the whereabouts of everyone before she assured him that she was on her way and hung up the phone.

“You alright baby girl?” Ricky asked her. When he saw Mia get dressed, he followed suit since he knew that nothing was popping off between them.

“No, my mama was just rushed to the hospital. I don’t know what happened, but I have to get up there,” Mia answered in a panic.

“You need me to drive you?” Ricky offered.

“No, but thanks anyway. Sorry about our date being cut short. I’ll
call you later,” Mia promised as they walked out of the apartment to their cars.

“Don’t sweat it. We’ll have plenty of time to finish what we started. Go check on your people and call me when you get a minute,” Ricky replied.

When Mia saw him leaning in to kiss her she started coughing and turned her cheek to him. He was never putting his lips on her again and she meant that. If he did to other women what he just did to her then his lips were off limits indefinitely.

“You good?” He asked while gently patting her back. When she nodded and said she was okay, he kissed her cheek and watched until she got into her car and pulled off.

Ten minutes later, Mia was rushing through the emergency room doors in search of her brother. She spotted Jabari at the nurse’s station while Dalvin paced up and down the hall on his phone. He was talking so loud that other people were staring at him strangely.

“You heard anything yet?” Mia asked when she walked up to her brother.

“No, I just got here. The nurse is going to try to find out something for me. That clown Dalvin ain’t even come over here to tell me nothing. I don’t see what Moonie see in his childish ass,” Jabari frowned.

“C’mon, I’m going to ask him what happened,” Mia said pulling her brother along towards Dalvin.

“That’s my mama. Common sense would have told him to come talk to me when saw me,” Jabari fussed.

Mia only nodded before she walked up to Dalvin and started talking. “What happened Dalvin?”

“Let me call you right back,” Dalvin said to whoever he was on the phone with.

  “Is Moonie okay?” Mia asked.

Dalvin looked like he zoned out for a minute before he surprised Mia and broke down crying. That act alone scared her into thinking that the situation had to be something serious.

“Them hoes jumped my girl and killed my baby,” Dalvin cried like a baby.

“She lost the baby?” Mia asked as her heart sank and the tears started flowing from her eyes as well. She had just gotten used to the idea of having a new baby around and now that was all over with.

“Yeah, they said she was bleeding too much and it was too late for them to save it,” Dalvin replied wiping his eyes.

“Who jumped her?” Jabari wanted to know.

“I know it was that bitch Paige, but I don’t know who else was with her. That bitch gon’ get dealt with and I put that on my mama. My first baby and that bitch took it away before I even got a chance to see it,” Dalvin fumed.

“Your first baby?” Jabari questioned. “I thought Paige had a son for you.”

“That bitch know that ain’t my baby. I asked her for a blood test years ago, and I ain’t get one yet. The only reason he looks like me is because he’s probably for somebody in my family. Besides me, my cousin and both of my brothers hit it,” Dalvin confessed.

“Family of Mya Walker,” A nurse yelled into the room. Mia and Jabari rushed over to where she was and informed her that they were her children. Dalvin was standing there like he was supposed to be acknowledged, but they completely ignored him

“How is she?” Jabari asked what he’d been dying to know since he got there.

“Aside from having a complete miscarriage and being a little banged up, she’ll be fine. I’m sure the doctor will want to keep her overnight, but I can let one of you visit for a few minutes. This is emergency so only one person can go back. I don’t know how long it’ll be before she gets put into a room,” the nurse replied.

“You can go Mia. I’m sure she wants to see you,” Jabari suggested.

“That was my baby that she lost. I think I should be the one to go back there,” Dalvin shouted.

“Sir, I need you to keep your voice down please,” the nurse scolded. “And I’m sorry, but only immediate family is allowed to visit until she is put up in her room.”

She gently grabbed Mia’s hand and led her down the hallway through a set of white double doors. Once they got to the fourth door, she opened it and ushered Mia inside before closing it again.

“Moonie,” Mia whispered walking over to the bed. Her mother was lying on her side, but she turned as soon as she heard her name being called.

“Hey,” Moonie whispered with a pained expression on her face.

“Oh my God Moonie, look at your face,” Mia burst out crying.

Black and blue was the perfect description of how her mother was looking. Her right eye had a broken blood vessel and the left one was almost swollen shut. Her lips were twice their normal size with dried up blood at the top and bottom. Not to mention the bruises that accompanied it all.

“Don’t start that crying Mia. It’s only bruises. I’ll bounce back from this just like I bounce back from everything else,” Moonie said.

“I’m sorry about the baby,” Mia said sitting on the side of her mother’s bed and grabbing her hand.

“Everything happens for a reason Mia. Having that baby would have only caused more drama in my life. Dalvin was so sure that it was his, but I wasn’t even sure of that.”

“I know, he just broke down crying about it a few minutes ago. He’s talking about what he’s going to do to Paige when he sees her. Who was she with when she jumped you?”

“Honestly Mia, I don’t even know. We were at the bingo hall when she walked in with about four or five girls. We didn’t say anything to each other, but she kept looking at me. After about an hour or so I got up to go to the bathroom and that’s when it all went down. I was beating the brakes off of that bitch when two other bitches jumped in. They knew they had to jump me in order to win. Thank God the cleaning lady came in when she did.”

“And I’m sure she knew that you were pregnant,” Mia replied.

“Of course she did,” Moonie answered. “That bitch was acting a fool when she found out.”

“Did you call Mitch?” Mia asked.

“No, and don’t you call him either. I have to think of something to tell the other kids before they see me. I’m just so tired of this Mia. It’s time for a change and I need to start with Dalvin. I don’t want him and I don’t think I ever did. It was more about what he could do for me than anything else. I’m just all fucked up. You and Jabari hate me and I can’t pay my younger kids to even listen to me. They respect you more than they do me and that’s all my fault. You were more of a mother to them than I ever was. I don’t even know why Mitch still wants me,” Moonie said as she cried silently.

“We don’t hate you Moonie. We just hate some of the things that you do. And Mitch loves you and you love him too. I’ve never seen you as happy as you were when you were with him. Tootie and the rest of the kids are still young and you still have time to get control over that situation. You can’t just let them do whatever they want to do. You have to stay out of the streets and be home with them more.”

“I know I’ve said I’m going got get myself together before, but I mean it this time. I’ve had enough of the street life to last me a lifetime. Mitch and I have been talking, and we’ve decided to work on us being a family. I want to get my GED and find me a decent paying job. Mitch said that I don’t have to work, but I really need to. I’m thirty-six years old and have never had a job in my life.”

“I’m so proud of you Moonie. I really feel in my heart that you and Mitch are a perfect match. He’s always been there for you even when y’all weren’t together. And you know I got your back in whatever you decide to do,” Mia smiled while cuddling in the bed next to her.

“I know, you always do. You’ve always been my ride or die,” Moonie laughed.

Paige sat outside of the drab looking brown building waiting for her nieces to get out of their GED class. They’d been going there for a little over a month and it seemed to be working out fine. They only went three days a week for four hours per day. Since she’d been staying with them for the past few weeks, she’d been dropping them off and picking them up. Her brother moved from the apartments they used to l
ive in and rented a three bedroom house in a nicer area. Thanks to Paige’s younger boyfriend, Dino, she got evicted a few weeks after he left. Not only was Dino selling dope from Paige’s apartment, but he threatened a few of her neighbors when they complained about it. Once word got back to her leasing office about what was going on, they put a note on her door the following day. Paige was no longer working, so she depended on Dino to keep her bills paid. After she got put out of his temporary trap house, as he called her apartment, he found another older woman to spend his time and money with. Paige ended up putting her furniture in storage and moved in with her brother. Money was so tight for her that she barely had enough to keep the storage bill paid. She tried calling her children’s fathers for help, but those deadbeats were worse off than she was. Well, all of them except for Dalvin. He was too busy spending his money on Moonie and her kids to give a damn about the son that they had together. Then, to make matters worse, he went and got that bitch pregnant. Knowing Moonie, he probably wasn’t even the father. That didn’t stop him from going around bragging to everybody though. When she confronted him about helping her out with their son, he basically told her that Moonie’s child was his first unless a blood test said otherwise. To Paige, that was a low blow, even for him. When she saw Moonie at the bingo hall a few weeks ago everything came rushing back to her mind like a flood. Every ugly word that Dalvin had said to her was replayed over and over in her head. The hate that she had for Moonie and her daughter was enough to make Paige kill her with her bare hands. She was happy when Moonie went to the bathroom by herself because her chance had finally come. Unfortunately being pregnant did nothing to slow Moonie down. She was still as wild as ever and Paige found that out the hard way. Thankfully her brother’s girlfriend and one of her other girls had her back and the three of them quickly took Moonie down. She didn’t set out to make her miscarry her baby, but she would be lying if she said she felt bad about it. Dalvin was out for blood, but he had no idea where Paige was living at now. He’d been calling her phone threatening her every day, but she wasn’t really bothered by it. He had to catch her before he could do anything to her. A few of her old neighbors told her that he had been asking questions about her and where she lived. She was happy that she didn’t tell anyone before she left. Money would have been the motive for a lot of people to rat her out.
